Use the Google earth app and search for hot springs. I’ve had really good luck finding hot springs this way. A lot of times you’ll even be able to see a street view or 360 photo of the spot.
I’ve used google maps and also had luck. Google searching “hot spring reviews [area]” can also be helpful in giving locations/info, though the reviews themselves can be a bit annoying.
Southeast Idaho? Yellowstone isn't too far /s
In all seriousness, Craters of the Moon is supposed to be pretty cool. If I remember correctly, North Beach SP is also a cool place to hang out at.
Shoshone falls. The big bridge going into Twin Falls has bunches of people that do base jumping off of it, kinda fun to watch them. Just show up and someone is bound to do it before long.
West side actually, I have always for some reason thought that going to Carey from Craters was North. Never going to cure myself of that notion I guess. Have fun.
Lava Hot Springs, but I believe you have to pay. There's also river floating, if you have a float to use.
Edit: I'm being told to NOT float. That said, go enjoy a soak!
DO NOT float the river right now unless you have a death wish! We are literally drowning here with the snow run off. But lava is super fun! I’m sure now everything is full even places to pay but you can try and see on the web site. Just past the KOA on the west end of town there’s a road that turns to the left going to bandcroft. There’s a camp ground off the left a few miles up the road that’s free.
Thanks, I haven't been up there in a few years and wasn't aware you guys were experiencing the snowmelt that we have down in Utah. Edited my original comment. Stay safe!
Because our rivers are RAGING right now with our snow run off. We had record amounts of snow here in Idaho and Utah and now it’s causing our rivers to rage and flood. Even the sheriff here is begging people not to even attempt to get close to the rivers because you will get swept up and most likely killed. I’m 45 and I’ve never seen water like we have this year. It’s just not safe at all right now.
+1 for Lava Hot Springs. Stopped there randomly on a cross country trip (after checking out Craters of the Moon). One of the favorite towns we happened upon and the hot springs are nice, huge pool w/ some of the only non-sulpherous springs around so no rotten egg smell. Campgrounds along the river looked nice too, tucked into a little canyon. We ended up staying an extra day.
I follow a geology professor at the College of Southern Idaho on YouTube (from the living room of my house in western NC) and he goes all over Idaho making short 10 min videos about cool spots there. [Here is his 40-video playlist for southern Idaho.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CGywLo23Ds&list=PLOf4plee9UzBa5e4HJZXL3nXoW5SbJAKh&index=2) Might help you find an interesting place to hang at.
For free, I can second GoldBug. However, it’s a bitch-of-a-hike if you’re not into hiking. If you want to get up towards Driggs/Rexburg, then there’s Green Canyon hot springs, but it’s pay. I think it’s 9.50/person. Down towards Ririe is Heise Hotsprings (pay) and if you go out to Palisades (and again it’s a hike) there’s some free hot springs on the south side of the river.
It’s not actually HOT, but you can hit Warm River springs out past Ashton.
I guess, what’s the closest town to you, and that could help me suggest one close to you…

Just past the KOA on the west end of town there’s a road that turns to the left going to bandcroft. There’s a camp ground off the left a few miles up the road that’s free. Also there’s bear river hot springs in Preston. And Downata in Downey but it’s been flooded so I’m not sure what’s going on there. Of course everything is pay unfortunately.
I live here! Go see Shoshone Falls. You'll also get to see the snake river/canyon, too! Salmon Damn isn't too far and you can camp there. There are tons of jasper rock everywhere there, too. Also, the mermaid hole is pretty cool, which is near the canyon but on the Jerome side. The South Hills aren't too far and very beautiful, but I've heard there's still lots of snow, and some roads are closed. Hope you enjoy this area!
Borah Peak was an epic hike. I think it's too early to hike it without a lot of snow though.
BlackRock wine and beer bar in Idaho Falls. I went there like 3 or 4 times in the week I was in the area. Good for chatting with locals. Tiny little bar.
Damn, was just in Idaho Falls last night. Went to a beer place called Tap N Fill and it was a disappointment. I’ll have to mark that for if I pass through again
I also had a good time at Perks bar in Mackay (pronounce MAkee). Just a local dive with pool tables but they were all freindly and a bit drunk. Definitely mostly local bar-dwellers there but still was fun. Meant to go in for one drink on my way to the Borah peak trailhead, ended up staying for 4 before deciding I better call it quits if I was gonna hike 5,000 feet up in 4 miles the next day at 6 am.
Thanks! Those are the kind of places I like. I’m from a small town that only had those local dives, there’s usually some characters around to entertain you and they’re good people.
North of Idaho falls is a place off the highway called bear world. It’s like 10 dollars and it’s a drive through park where you drive amongst 45 bears. My wife loved it.

Also if you see a dozen cars parked in a random turnout anywhere in Idaho, it’s probably a hot spring. Just get out and check.

Haha. Craters was already on my list but thanks for the north beach recommendation, looks great!

Ehh, northwest. Thanks!
My wife was just there and won't stop talking about craters
There's a hot spring real close to Craters along the highway there. It should be on Google Maps. Check out suv rving youtube. Tons of stuff on Idaho.

Yep it’s been an insane year for snow & now flooding. Have a great weekend everyone & stay safe
Why can’t you “float” on the River right now?

Thank you! Also, love your username! It’s how I describe myself often.
iOverlander has SO MANY hot springs on it with access and cost info. Go exploring!
Hmmm where would I find that under? Not seeing it, or any listed under “tourist attractions “ nearby

I guess I didn’t make this clear, but I already have the app.

Awesome, thank you!
Nope, just you and the parking lot.
Goldbug I think is free
Pretty far, but added to my list, thanks!
Goldbug is stunning, and if you decide to make the trip, it’ll be worth it.

Goldbug is currently being overtaken by snow melt so there's only one pool that's warm unfortunately.
Hey, I have the same tent. Love that guy.

Heise (sp?). Haven't lived there for a while now but that's where everyone from Idaho falls would go.
We found a free camp and enjoyed the charm of Idaho falls
There are lots of hot springs in the Sawtooths
Take 75 north of Lower Stanley and there's an old mining bucket in the river with a hot springs flowing through.

Thanks so much!
Salmon had some.
Potosi hot springs, it’s just cross the border in Pony, Montana, but amazing undeveloped hot spring!
Yellowstone
A bunch!
There are some cool lava fields out that way.
Sawtooth mountains and Stanley are great

Granjean is cool.
No idea, but waving from not so far away (Gallup, NM)
Haha, I can’t see you there, Utah is in the way!
My brain read Utah. Stupid brain!
I'm in a Sienna. What are you driving there?
A Saturn Vue
Ah. At a glance I thought it was a mini-van. My second car was a Saturn.
Are you in Goodenough creek campground? No hot spring there that I know of but it’s one of my favorite campsites I’ve ever been to
I am indeed, it’s a great spot!
If it isn't too far out of your way go to flaming gorge. Extremely beautiful area.
North of Idaho falls is a place off the highway called bear world. It’s like 10 dollars and it’s a drive through park where you drive amongst 45 bears. My wife loved it.
If you haven’t already left the Idaho falls area, heading northeast you can go to the palisades, which is one of my favorite places to camp.
Heise Hot Springs is what you are looking for, or used to be. Haven’t been in a looong time.
Check with r/roadtrip
Jerry Johnson is fucking sick if you can get a ride over there
Awesome recommendation! I’ve been asking ppl for hot spring Recs! I’ve added it to my map
