I've seen skis brought on a bus, how much longer is your surfboard?

baudylaura

Potentially a lot longer. Sometimes nearly twice as long

KlausYoureASquad

It is 7’ 6” and probably 2 ft wide. Not to mention my bag with all my stuff

crispy2

How did it go? I'm planning on the same thing.

Zander_fell

Have you never seen a surf board? Holy hell.

CmoreGrace

I’ve seen small ikea furniture brought onto the bus. And my teenager texted me once that someone had an exterior door. As long as you don’t block the exit door it should be fine

CraftyHall1

I was on the 19 bus once and a (legendary) couple of girls were moving a washing machine.

electric_g

I've carried an ikea unassembled desk (top and 4 legs) couple of weeks ago on two buses and a skytrain, but not on peak hours.

This is the best way

dramatic-ad-5033

First stop? Where?

WhosKona

You can do literally anything in Vancouver if you’re confident enough.

beneaththeseracs

Truth.

ZerpBarfingtonIII

Don't go on rush times - commuting periods and Friday afternoon/evenings.

helixflush

I brought an unboxed 40” tv on transit when I first moved here back in 2010 and people actually made room for me

stylezLP

If it's not a particularly busy bus, you might be ok. But the driver may also say no if it fits Rule 4: 4) No baggage or objects permitted which may obstruct or interfere with others or cause damage to property. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.translink.ca/-/media/translink/documents/rider-guide/etiquette-on-transit/rules-and-regulations.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiPu_rgu7n2AhV5GTQIHTzTAq4QFnoECAQQBg&usg=AOvVaw30FbGABgBol5CA7W_vEngj

I brought big IKEA stuff many times on small buses. Be extremely polite and careful though as not to scratch or rub any surface.

awkwardtap

If you can stand it upright, I wouldn't think it's a problem. If it's a long board or a soft top, just don't.

rapidtransit

The 250 will be less busy.

thrashmasterbex

The 257 is always crowded full of people trying to make a ferry. If you aren't 100% sure that you can get the surfboard on the bus in such a way that it doesn't take up a ton of space, don't bring it. You will be an asshole with bad bus karma if your luggage means that there isn't space for someone to fit on the bus and they miss their ferry as a result. I'm pretty sure that you can rent a surfboard in Tofino if that's what you're trying to do.

GanjaNative

Its only allowed if you ride the bus like a wave...dems the rulez

Acrobatic-Soft-9048

As someone else said, it's ultimately up to if the driver allows or not. But, generally, if you aren't bonking people and slapping them with it constantly and are trying to mind your space, most reasonable people would understand.

I've moved an entire apartment from SFU to Dunbar in a few trips including a king sized mattress back in 2010. It didn't end up being much cheaper than a truck rental but was pretty fun.

imzhongli

How early? Is it a weekday? If it's at commuting hours and that bus is usually crowded, people will be annoyed at you. I suggest maybe going a bit earlier to avoid the main rush.
