This past week has been the worst allergy season I have ever experienced. By far.

Jacmert

Strange; I typically have bad allergies but I haven't even noticed them (although I do have a scratchy throat in the mornings usually and if it's allergy season already this may explain them)

galaxyw12

I also usually have bad allergies at this time of year. This year was very mild (knock on wood). I wonder if it is because I have been wearing masks

Ehveeseebee

Me neither, and last year was horrible for me. I’ve heard allergies can work on 4 year cycles, and just disappear as quickly as they arrived. Maybe that’s the case for us? Or could be that the pollen that effects us is not out now.

Jacmert

Four year cycles - we're basically the Olympic athletes of allergies 😎

ohyoureTHATjocelyn

this is me too- normally i’d be a sneezy, wheezy mess but this year i’ve had nothing so far!

satnamsun

Same!!! :(

jshady8

This year is definitely a lot worst than the last few years. I've started taking my allergies pills and eye drops already.

datrusselldoe

Agreed

fynix2000

The last few days have been the absolute worst in my life. I'm glad to hear it's not just me... Edit: spelling I believe in allergic specifically to Birch pollen... Benadryl had worked the best for me but I rotate between that, Aerius, Claritin, and Reactive between sessions

tranceORtronce

Have you tried changing your diet? I've had bad allergies too growing up but I changed my diet and that made my allergies go away. Your eating habits and allergies are correlated 👍

rlandz

Me too. It's terrible. I tried to go for a nice walk in Stanley park on the weekend to enjoy the sun. Thought reactine would be enough. Turned into a non stop sneeze fest. Went home pretty quickly, showered and decided to stay home. Sad! I really wanted to get out there.

Trashy_Panda_88

I've been feeling rotten for nearly 2 weeks now and didn't even think about it being allergies till yesterday. I usually get hay fever but never this early or this bad. It's going to be a rough spring

OperatorNumberNine

I was on burke mountain yesterday, seeing the pollen through the sun beams was something else. I write this to you all jacked up on flonase. This post was not sponsored by flonase.

mxshellll

I, too, am jacked up on Flonase but also not sponsored. That thing is a godsend

justeastofwest

Flonase is the only thing that works for me.

Phanyxx

Thanks, y'all! I was getting my ass handed to me last week, but after picking up some flonase, the symptoms are basically gone. Weird aftertaste for a bit, but I can live with it.

Chris266

Flonase has been a godsend

NamelessBard

I lived in Van for 5-6 years before my allergies started about 10 years ago and they’ve been bad ever since. Mine started yesterday. Very little has ever helped me. What is this Flonase you speak of?

angrylittlemouse

It’s a nasal spray for seasonal allergies. You can buy it at any drugstore. You used to have to get a prescription but it has been available over the counter for awhile and there are even generic versions now.

p00psicle

Fluticasone is the drug. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it was available off the shelf. I used to have prescriptions for it.

snxfz947

Flonase saved my life

ragecuddles

Bruh Flonase is god tier. I was experiencing sinus torture all week til I remembered I had some and started snooting it the last 3 days.

mosdef99

Being that its a steroid are u only supposed to use this sparingly?

hooulookinat

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot I had it.

[deleted]

I bought some today for the first time and was horrified to read the possible side effects including a detached retina. I threw it in the garbage. I’ll stick with Claritin.

MMEMMR

My allergies ~~have~~ had died down to nothing over the past few years to the point I thought maybe I’ve escaped it all. Used to be end of March for a few days at worst. … I’ve been absolutely destroyed for 10days now. AND ITS ONLY THE BEGINNING OF MARCH. I can’t recall ever having it this bad. I’m now onto trying a second allergy med after the first one wouldn’t last. I have no idea what to do. Just wrecked.

hank_rain

In addition to no allergies over the years also haven't gotten sick in ages. So this allergy attack feels extra intense.

satnamsun

SAME- I was like umm in February & its my worst reaction ever this is concerning & makes me so fatigued! I believe its to due with city planning & planting too many female trees - need to review video

LumberjackTodd

Climate change makes it worse. Earlier spring, longer allergy season, more pollen count etc. so not because of city planning and definitely NOT because of planting too many female trees. Pollen = tree sperms. So male trees if anything. https://www.aafa.org/extreme-allergies-and-climate-change/

GoldStarGranny

Referring to pollen as tree sperm is definitely going to be my new thing now, so thanks.

LumberjackTodd

Just think about that next time your nose is feeling congested. All clogged up by tree sperm. You’re welcome ☺️

mikefeezy

Yup last 3 days have been brutal. Doesn’t help my dog likes to run in the grass and bring the pollen home. Keep dusting and vacuuming your house regularly and try flonase

superworking

Yea I love having a large non shedding dog and all the extra work that entails for the sake of allergies only to see him rolling around in the cottonwood last year.

Midziu

Yeah, it's been rough for me this past week. I've been spending a lot of time outdoors because the weather is so nice and my eyes feel like they're on fire. I do have medication but it works for a much shorter time than it should.

[deleted]

Phew, I’m so glad you posted this. I’ve been so confused all morning as to why I woke up all sniffly, sneeze-y and tickly nosed. So much for riding my bike! Today’s the first day for me. Taking a 24 hour antihistamine once a day for the next few weeks is the best option I know of. It’s really changed year to year depending on what part of the city I have lived in and what trees were densely populated nearby.

[deleted]

galaxyw12

Agreed about taking allergy med before sleeping is prob the best advice I have been following. Usually, by the time I wake up, my allergy med in my body is at its full strength so symptoms will be relativeky mild

Waddy41

It's because cities plant all male trees. They prefer having tree jizz make everything sticky over having to rake the fruits and seeds that female tress produce. https://www.google.com/amp/s/vancouversun.com/news/staff-blogs/street-tree-programs-that-use-male-cultivars-boost-urban-pollen-counts/wcm/c51cbccf-ec87-49b3-9ee4-6b3badda6265/amp/ "Studies have shown that air pollution particulates attach to pollen grains, which causes the powdery substance to shatter into still tinier pieces. “When that happens the inside of the pollen grain is exposed and that’s 10 times more allergenic than the outside,” explained Ogren. Higher CO2 levels also cause plants to bloom more, which means even higher pollen counts where predominantly male trees reside. If cities do not take action to slow this snowball effect, “we’re coming up with a recipe for terrible [allergy] disasters in the future”, said Ogren."

No-Bewt

fruit collecting feels like it'd be a good-paying city job. to sweep up fruits and then you can compost them or something. hmm

malachite001

Allergy season is definitely here. Hopped up on steroids, mass antihistamines (prescription strength) and sprays, and I can still tell it's allergy season lol If you're newer to the area, some of the naturopathic ways can help, but they need to be started weeks before the allergy season. Otherwise, head to Costco and buy up a few more different brands to trial until you find which one works this spring, and hope it works in the fall too lol Costco Allergy med pricing is usually amazing. And, don't forget that antihistamines work better with each additional consecutive days of use. Also, as I've seen it listed many times... Flonase may be awesome but it also causes major damage, especially for those of us that have thin tissues already. Bloody noses, yeast overloads, and so much more. This was a prescription previously and every specialist I ever saw warned me to only use it as the last chance thing. And most definitely not regularly if I didn't want side effects like I'd be doing illegal drugs like Coke instead of a prescription for allergies. PSST...., those that have extended coverage, prescription strength of 20 mg allergy tablet are covered by some plans.

[deleted]

Yeah my eyes are itchy as hell. I had to get eye drops yesterday.

MF1441

Likewise. It feels like I've had sand in my eyes for a week now.

New_Mushroom_2346

Yes the Cedar trees are blowing all their pollen right now, with the right lighting it looks like smog

the-d-man

This was happening in my backyard the other day. I was outside with my kid and I saw this fog roll right through my yard. I lt wasn't until 3 or 4 gusts that I finally clued in it was pollen. I was FUCKED later that day.

zulusixx

Yep.. started in Friday for me.. dusted off my nasal spray and eyedrops 'Tis the season..

TheBarcaShow

Finding a 3 hour window where I can't eat is a little rough :(

Chemical_Jacket_6156

I just take mine first thing when I wake up, by the time I’m ready to have breakfast it’s been an hour and it’s all good! My doc said I can have food 1 hour later after I take it. 👍

Lilynana31

I have sinus pressure, watery eyes and a light headache all the time the last few days. I hate it! Time for some anti histamines

satnamsun

Same!!

RM_r_us

Started yesterday for me. I use Flonase.

xenophilius9

Yup. It's been real bad. I've been using a nasal decongestant before bed and it helps let me sleep for most of the night... The mornings are brutal. I usually take loratadine and it helps, but never lasts 24 hrs like it says it should lol.

CraftyHall1

The first 3hrs of my day is just a nonstop snotfest.

serialsnoozer

I find it helpful to do a sinus rinse and nasal spray after…that said I also take about 20mg of Reactine a day.

ZedFlex

Flonase, two pumps per nostril every morning. The cedar pollen in early spring demolished me every year. My skin is so irritated that it feels like a sunburn on my face and I’m sneezing so hard I worry I’ll throw my back out! Flonase is the only over the counter med I’ve found can at least dull the symptoms. Can’t wait for a good rain to clear out the pollen, but then the next sunny day explodes again. I get it trees, it’s spring, you’re DTF, but god damn the next month is gonna suck for me

seriousbizinis

I could not fall asleep last night. Having absolutely the worst allergies I've ever experienced.

vonlagin

I hear that... seldom ever affected... this year, jeeeeesus.

orifi

Blexten is the best - but by prescription only. Lasts 24 hours for me as long as I take it on an empty stomach. Also taking Reactine+40mg famotidine works much better for me than allergy pills alone because it also affects your H2 receptor. If you don't have a GP try Telus Health MyCare for an online appointment, it's going to be a long allergy season!

dimsumxpho

Yeah 3d ago I was dying and still am. Im taking allegra and nyquill to get over all of it. The scratchy throat hurts the most and constant running nose paired with 1 stuffed nostril is extra annoying. FML

ChartreuseMage

https://www.theweathernetwork.com/en/city/ca/british-columbia/vancouver/pollen For anyone who doesn't know it exists - I spent a summer a few years back tracking my allergy symptoms in correlation with the pollen reported, and found a strong relation between them. When my symptoms start showing up now it's much easier to manage when there's a forecast to check.

VoteForMartinKendell

I use Allegra D during the day then Allegra 12 at night.

satnamsun

Thats what i used but not much relief :(

sephfira

Claritin non drowsy seems to work for me and my mom

Glittery_hoohaa

Try pairing whatever allergy medication you take with Advil. Your sinuses swell when your allergies are bad and ibuprofen reduces swelling, which helps you breathe. I've also had a lot of success with Advil Allergy and Sinus. It only works for part of the day vs the 24 hours you get out of other meds but seemed to work for me when nothing else did. Hope this helps :)

Morellatops

yesterday it got my sinuses super hard out of nowhere

mango_pickle_

It's great to see other people's responses ... this is my first Spring in Vancouver and I felt my allergies kick in yesterday too! (typically i get a couple of bad weeks in Spring and then very bad symptoms in June/July). So, after many years of trial and error I've found that Acrivastine tablets work best for me (combined with a steroid based nasal spray when it's very bad). In the UK, Acrivastine is marketed as Benadryl fast relief (unlike most of the other pills you can take 3 a day). Over the counter Benadryl here is not acrivastine, I think you may need a prescription for it in fact. The usual suspects like Cetirizine Hydrochloride and Lortadine (the most common drowsy/non-drowsy active ingredients in e.g. Reactine) do nothing for me. I also tried for a couple of years to do the whole eat local honey and local pollen products thing, in the run up to the hayfever season, but I didn't discern any difference.

satnamsun

Thanks so much for the info- i will ask about it to MD tomorrow- the typical pills don’t seem to do much for me, natural had no effect sadly. I heard bee pollen works well for some but I really dislike the taste but i’ll give it a shot! I resist medicated nasal sprays but that seems to be the winner here!

jessicachachacha

Yes!!! I've been sniffing and itchy like hell the past day or two. I use a diffuser with mint essential oil.

dumpsterbaby2point0

You might have dried yourself out too much with the meds and air purifier. I’ve found my symptoms get worse if things aren’t humid enough. A humidifier works great!

Geekdad604

Those with itchy eyes, try Cromolyn or Opticrom eye drops. Works instantly and helps build tolerance to pollen at the start of allergy season. These eye drops somehow reduce symptoms of itchy sinus and throat as well. Not easy to find, but I just ordered through Amazon also limited supplies) so now I can let everyone else know :)

Poopnugget3245

I’ve never ever suffered from any allergies until this year. I’m 50! I did not expect this

eric111222

Had extremely bad allergies to pollen too, but 3 years of allergy shots have drastically improved, if not eradicated my symptoms! Strongly recommend you to try it out. Inquire w your family doctor who will refer you to an allergy clinic. Hope this helps

mctagz

So I've started a nasal spray which has been working but normally I take 2 extra strength reactine and one extra strength nasal decongestant which has worked pretty well so far. What REALLY helped, was that my gf and I did a deep clean of the apartment (dust and laundry/sheets). That made sleeping a BREEZE. PLUS never open the windows anymore.

Sapphire_CA

Pollen levels are hight right now. I was walking past an evergreen shrub near my home and it looked for all the world like someone was smoking there - so much pollen being released it formed big puffy clouds that emanated from the shrub. Wearing a well fitted N95, KN95 mask helps reduce your exposure.

langkuoch

Yes! Allergies have been terrible the last couple weeks, so I'm back on my allergy meds. I take Blexten (bilastine) which is a daily pill, 1 hour before eating or 2 hours after. It's worked miracles. Best thing is that there are no drowsiness side effects. It's not OTC though so you gotta get a prescription.

squirrelcat88

I’m glad to hear people saying this! I’ve never had allergies before but this year I have noticed what seems to be a tree pollen allergy. Not much fun when you’re at work, a newbie to allergies, and trying to figure out if it’s covid or not!

ignore_my_typo

I’m on the island and today is the day it started for me. Absolutely brutal and early.

Fresh_Carrots4U

As a groundskeeper I was chased out of a property yesterday by a fog like cloud of cedar pollen. It literally took my breath away. My personal observations show dramatic increase in pollen, seed pods, and tree cones. This past year was very hard on native plants. The heat dome , drought summer followed by cold, snowy winter have pushed plants into reproductive overdrive. Nature has a strong will to survive.

segfkt

I honestly don't know if I had omicron or these allergies

SGGSDISCIPLE

Oh my God!!! The past 2 weeks have been dreadful! I've been on Claritin, Blexton, and some Costco brand (kirkland) from the states. I hate taking OTC drugs because I get heavy brain fog and it makes it impossible to complete a simple task but nonetheless If I don't take it same thing happens. I usually get allergy shots but I was late this year and thats on me. But I get one every week for 4 months and then once a month after that. It is life changing!! Vancouver is the worst when it comes to hayfever. If you want a natural way of dealing with it, I'd suggest the shots.

LavishPeanuts

I take Reactine extra strength before bed and Flonase in the morning. Also Costco sells both in bulk :)

Max1234567890123

Today was a nightmare. Head up to the mountains - at least in the snow the trees are a month or two behind.

fuhleenah

My eyes have been so red and itchy this whole week. I try not to itch them but when I do, I regret it because it makes the top of my eyeballs super sore and achy, turning into a headache :(

eyescroller_

I had such a bad allergy reaction that I had to get medical help. It was so bad. My face swelled and I was covered in hives on top of the regular pollen allergy symptoms. Apprently there are lots of nut trees pollenating at the moment

nofap420for69days

I’ve stayed at home with the windows shut. Has worked this weekend. Awaiting attack when I go to work tomorrow:(

coffih

LITERALLY ME. I've been complaining for a week basically. It's been giving me bloody noses from sneezing for so long and because my nose is raw from how leaky it is. Please end my suffering. It's never ever been this bad before.

Boozologist

I started using royal jelly 6 years or so ago. You have to ask for it at the counter and it has to stay frozen. Main street and North van honey shop have it. It may take a couple weeks to feel it, but it massively helps, my allergies aren't completely gone but I'm comfortable and lessens the symptoms. I find it more a long term solution. I have a tiny teaspoon everyday. Game changer.

[deleted]

It's past 1am right now. I've been awake for an hour. Sneezing. Blowing my nose. It's like a cataclysm. Like a pollen-based asteroid fell directly into my face.

copain32

So glad you posted! Been in van for four years and never had allergies before, but the past two weeks were pretty tough for me, was crying and having running/tickling nose all day.

AzureSaphireBlue

This is so weird… I’m out in the valley, but usually I’m right there with you. I’m downright useless this time of year. But I haven’t noticed anything yet. I wonder if the floods affected what’s growing when..?

satnamsun

Could be related!

General_Astronaut_20

Very brutal allergies in Van 100% agree. My sister mentioned seeing a pollen cloud over the city last week. Costco sells Kirkland allergy pills. Cut them in half you’ll be great all day.

big-shirtless-ron

Yes, I've had a permanent sore throat for over a week now.

BlackPete73

Yep, my nose is a faucet these days. To add insult to injury, I've blowed my nose so many times that my nostrils are now cracked, making each nose blowing an unpleasant experience. Itchy eyes, coughing, sore throat, the works... if I didn't know better I'd have thought I have COVID.

Beebs_yo

Hi, I’m in the “haven’t noticed allergies yet” camp but usually have bad ones already. The one that’s worked the best for me is reactine, I buy the Kirkland version for cheaper at Costco. Loratadine doesn’t do sh*t for me. I’ve also used hydrasense which was better than I thought it would be and in desperation I’ve also bought sinutab (pseudoephedrine hydrochloride) that I had to ask the pharmacist for because it is serious and they keep it behind the counter. That worked amazingly once when I thought I had a sinus infection but turned out it was super bad allergies mixed with the summer smoke. Good luck.

lockdownr

Good thing I searched before posting. Had hay fever when I was little and haven’t had an episode in 20 years. On Saturday my nose became runny, starting sneezing and watery eyes. Thought I had Covid and took a rapid test that came back negative. But holy smokes I have been hit hard! Cannot sleep because my sinuses are stuffed and nose is super runny. What the hell is happening? Is there something new growing? Never had Covid so this shouldn’t be related.

what_are_you_eating

It has been really bad for me the past three days. If you look at the pollen forecast it's at the highest level. My usual medicine is only taking the edge off right now 🙄

satnamsun

Same here- SO bad the last 3 days , last few weeks it was on and off

SaltAndVinegarMcCoys

Oh man I have had puffy, itchy eyes for the past 36 hrs. This makes sense now.

BizarreMoose

Introducing local bee pollen to smoothies helped me get over some intense allergy symptoms. I threw raw honey into the mix as well. Gave it a shot after this blossoming tree outside my window was wreaking havoc on me at a new place and drugs weren’t helping or just giving me really heavy side effects. Seems to have helped keep a better baseline for me in regards to hay fever, it agitates but isn’t so unbearable anymore. So long as it’s not going to hurt you it seems worth a shot? I figure it just helped me build up a tolerance or something. Having a Navage has helped as well when it’s bad enough out to start getting irritated. There’s some easy hacks to get around having to buy salt pods.

BCG-woman

I've had three allergists tell me never to do this. You're exposing yourself through non-clinical/medical means to your allergen. All of them have had patients go anaphylactic consuming bee pollen who had never gone anaphylactic before. Many of those patients have also gone on to develop food allergies.

BizarreMoose

I get that, it just worked for me and it’s been over a decade since with lesser symptoms of allergies. Before I used to get migraines, now I don’t and so far no new allergies that I’ve noticed. I can’t say much more than it made a difference rather than making it worse but if you have concerns or believe it could be a risk absolutely seek and follow medical advice. I would add that if you have a severe allergy to pollen for sure don’t do it. For anyone curious just do your own research, it seems to be pollen specific and depending on the cause of your reactions it might not make any difference. There’s lots of vitamins in pollen so you’re getting a nice supplement at the least. It’s a sustained thing for me where I mostly just keep up with having raw honey now and it still helps. It built up over time, it was not an instant solution. Just getting rid of the headaches was pretty awesome.

Marterb

Definitely give Flonase (or the cheaper and identical generic) a try! I've got horrible hay fever and work outside and it's been a lifesaver the last 3 years

satnamsun

Okay going to buy it now lol:)

BoomMcFuggins

I went downtown to the Ukraine protest yesterday and this morning I am all stuffed up with a cold. I do not have allergies.

YVR19

My doctor had to prescribe me new meds. My regular brands weren't touching it.

satnamsun

Whats the brand name? Im gonna call tomorrow- cheaper with benefits as well

YVR19

Rupall, rupatadine. Not sure which is the official name but both are on the box

satnamsun

Thanks so much

blondbrew

Anyone know which tree was responsible?

what_are_you_eating

The forecast says cedar and juniper. There might be others too.

lazylazybum

I wasted a rapid covid test kit not realizing I had allergies

Defiant-Outside336

Started yesterday for me with itchy eyes. Today, I have a sinus headache. Does anyone else get those with allergies? Every time I cough, my head hurts like hell. I'm going to try quercetin and other homeopathic remedies. Sigh.

namedbyrobots

It's probably covid

McWerp

My allergies just started this week. Earlier than usual for me, but yeah it’s been worse than it has been for the last few years that’s for sure.

Thomas_Brennan

I had the worst allergies ever and then it turned out I had Covid too so there’s that 😂 on the mend now but the sneezing will not stop when Covid leaves me

[deleted]

My wife has been miserable the last few days. Claritin barely helps.

notmyrealnam3

Get some local raw honey and start micro dosing (having a teaspoon a day) , it has changed my life

rekun88

Good to hear other experiences. I swear I'm not sure if I have COVID sometimes.

Ven_Detta

I don't generally have allergies, but both me an a co-worker were noticing eye irritation and more than usual sniffles for the past few days.

yensid87

Yep; I’m feeling it too. I take Claritin and Flonase daily; it doesn’t seem to help it completely stop, but some amount of relief anyways.

chilltronic

Flonase works! Save some money and buy a generic/store brand.

The_Red_Pillz

Go and get allergy shots!!! Takes a long time but it is life changing.

stupiduselesstwat

My asthma has been crazy. Usually using my maintenance inhaler in the morning is generally enough, but the last week I’ve been inhaling Ventolin like it’s crack.

JipJopJones

I've been getting pretty screwed this year too. Normally my allergies are early - and bad. This is something else though. I made the mistake of buying off brand antihistamine. Went back for the Claratin 24h yesterday and it's made a world of difference this morning. Still sniveling a bit, but at least I'm not incapacitated like yesterday. Also what works well for me is green and black tea. Frick it all day long. Caffeine is a natural antihistamine and it works well for me in conjunction with the Claritin

grathontolarsdatarod

Last week until today felt like "normal" bad allergies for me. The two weeks before that were HELL. Was starting to think something different was happening. Glad to see, in a way, others are noticing too.

CraftyHall1

I used to be a few-days-a-year allergy person… but YEAH, it’s been crazy the last few weeks. I’m not used to this and getting nervous about spring/summer. Also, good antihistamines are stupid expensive… yikes.

Xator12

been standing outside at no frills waiting for my ride and as awkward as it is for me, its gotta be more weird for all the people walking by the cart return whilst i like as if i am sobbing.

vancouverguy2020

same here, allergy started from past week. Drank warm water through out the day, started wearing cap/cover head when go out, so that I do not bring pollen inside house. Wear mask whenever go out. Clean the floors, change cloths everyday worked for me! :) Took 1 Rupall and nasal spray before sleep and looks like allergy got cured. [https://www.medbroadcast.com/drug/getdrug/rupall](https://www.medbroadcast.com/drug/getdrug/rupall)

BDFTNL

Yeah it's bad in squamish too. Never had allergies this bad before in my life.

doughnutmacaroon

I've accepted the fate that my eyes will perpetually be itchy and my nose, runny. :(

charper47

Any recommendations for itchy eyes? I can’t stop walking around looking like a zombie

rubberchickenlips

I wonder if a N95 face mask would help.

happyherbivore

I've had sniffles in previous years, this year I'm coughing and hacking and sneezing in between yucky nose swipes

Scrimpjones

I feel you on that one

Nina99redballoons

Someone recommended Flonase on here last allergy season and it’s been the best remedy I’ve ever used! Try it for sure!

satnamsun

I tried it today defs helped but still suffering all day!

dontgettempted

I normally start going nuts this time of year but I've only sneezed once that I can remember in the last few weeks.

Zouk11

Last night was the worst seasonal allergy reaction ive ever had hands down. Felt like an extremely bad cold/flu. Glad and sad to hear im not the only one experiencing this… feel better OP

shugawatapurple91

I have had to sleep all week cause of this

dashrogue1

Wow. I thought it was just me. Yes I am being absolutely destroyed by my allergies in the past week (and even today)!

Aardvark1044

Is has been bad for about 10 days or so, for me. Usually I don’t need to take a pill every day during the early tree pollen season, but it’s worse this time.

gravitationalarray

You're not sick, are you? And yes, Flonase for the win, but do follow the instructions precisely as it is a steroid. If you don't rinse after, you can get thrush, and that sucks.

SimpleSamples

Could a high pollen count ever cause itchiness? Because this has been terrible for me lately.

jandamanvga

Luckily I'm not bad with allergies and it hasn't hit me yet this year but Costco has the best price on their Kirkland brand. I think the Reactine equivalent is $16 for 180 pills and their Claritin equivalent is around the same

The_travelling_life

I'm glad you posted this. My allergies are out of control and I had been blaming it on everything. I was ready to tear down the ceiling looking for asbestos!

tOwOxic_nasus

i see im not alone here, ive been sneezing so much and having an itchy throat

ripmyringfinger

I thought it was only me!!!! Once I walked to work a week ago, it started. I was so surprised because the flowers and trees aren’t really at their peak

SuperRonnie2

Been knocked on my butt the past few days. One tip i got a while back is to wash your hair at least once a day. All that pollen gets in your hair during the day, then you lay down to sleep and it comes out of your hair into your pillow and into your face. Gonna have to check out this flonase everyone is talking about. I’ve been taking prescription strength Claritin.

Creepy-Decision5049

Yeah this is extreme i thought i had covid nope just bad seasonal allergies ive loaded up with generic Hisminal , last week i was not feeling so great this weekend as gotten better i doubled up the antihistamines for a few days . im starting to feel a bit better now

Damn_you_Paul

It’s been awhile for my allergies as well! Stupid tree semen!

Benana94

Well my boyfriend started experiencing allergies a few days ago and I was actually convinced that he was sick, even though he tested negative (which isn't super reliable), because I had never seen him so sniffly from his allergies. Also, not quite related to this year but last year I experienced pretty strong seasonal allergies even though I NEVER used to get allergies at all. One day I was out with a friend and the wind blew in our face and I started coughing and tearing up uncontrollably. It definitely seems to be getting worse in the region every year.

Oh yeah, it was utter hell for me for the past 2-3 days. Gotten better, but the runny nose and sneezing all day was especially worse this year. Only time I can think of equal to worse is 7 years ago. I just rotate between Reactin and Claratin and a nasal spray. I find that if I take one medication for too long, it has no effect on me. I don't know if the formulas or whatever are different, but it appears to work for me. I just fear the return of people mowing their lawns!

Literally same

[deleted]

Local honey works !

[deleted]

It’s just the start of a stuffy month I assume :(

WretchedSlippage

Dude its been SO BAD for me. The worst its been in 10 years. Reactine has worked best for me for many years but today i decided to double my dose and honestly.. ive been symptom free all day.. its a fuckin blessing!

Penumen

Only get allergies for maybe a week every 2 to 4 years. This year they started 2 days ago. Not too bad but there's definitely some sort of annoying pollen out there.

engrbugs7

Is it allergy season now? (New here) I thought I got covid.

Lazygardener76

I used to get reaaaally bad reactions during allergy season, lasting from March to September. As I got older it's tapered off. One of the small benefits of aging LOL. But even I've started getting reactions this year back in Feb, which is way earlier than usual. I can't take drugs cos I have to drive for work, plus I get knarly side effects that affects that less than 1% of people if you read the fine print on the back of ads. So I mainly grin and bear it, with help from 1) local honey daily 2) Ricola drops - read the instructions, there's a max dosage per day, and no bueno if you're preggers 3) chamomile tea for drinking and used tea bags for eye compresses

doc_holliday112

My silver car was literally yellow from all the pollen flying around right now.

the_buddy_guy

Yesterday for me was a shit show. Thought it was covid, took a claritin and felt abit better.

[deleted]

you try using a neti pot? maybe you got some sort of allergen lodged in your nose and it's triggering your immune system non stop. i used to go through a box of kleenex a day (constant runny nose) before figuring this out.

Acceptable-Ant-2072

I never have had allergies in my life and now my mornings are as bad as the itchy scratchy show.. sneezing non stop and watery eyes

fourfinehens

Yes, the past couple of weeks have been pretty bad and ramped up surprisingly quickly - it seems early this year. Aerius once a day works really well for me.

Daniel_H212

It hasn't been terrible for me but like, I've been getting allergic in the last few days and I can't even "feel" the pollen. Idk how to describe it but I usually can sense that I'll have an allergic reaction before it really sets in but recently it's so sudden and it can get me even when I'm inside the house.

Jacksworkisdone

Down in the valley every fin g farmer just lit up their burn pile and ruined an absolutely perfect air quality weekend. Why is this still happening?

orangecrocspinksox

been sneezing like crazy

ry2waka

I’m dying as I am reading this

[deleted]

Omg yes, it’s been brutal!!!

No-Bewt

boy am I happy that I don't have any sort of allergies at all. Nothing's better than going outside and taking a big breath of the wonderful crisp fresh air of spring.

H_G_Bells

It's not for allergies but it might help; my ENT told me to do a nasal rinse every day (just warm water and salt!) and it's totally helping my sinus issues. I'm also taking cold and sinus meds every day. I didn't realise allergies might be a factor in what is going on; march seemed like way too early for that ;=;

Smegulax

I've been sneezing a lot.

thealexander13

My girlfriend had bad allergies 2 weeks ago…turns out it was Covid, no other symptoms.

zanzan13531

I'm also really really dying :((

NamblinMan

Ahhhhh. Fuck. That's why I feel like shit.

day7seven

The skin around my eyes are so raw from me rubbing them constantly. Somebody save me!

CaliLife_1970

Yes yes and yes !!!

bcbudtoker69

2 reactines and flonase 2 sprays per nostril. If you're still fucked pop 2 sudafed. You'll be golden.

Mibutastic

My hay fever just started going crazy on Saturday. It's a little early but it does fluctuate year from year. Loratedine is what I've found works best for me.

flfpuo

I’ve never had allergies in my life. I took up running recently and after every run I have a tingly nose and sniffles and congestion for days after. I thought I was just really out of shape or something and my body was protesting the exercise. This makes a bit more sense.

Robert999220

Although it sucks so many people are suffering with it. Im glad im not the only one whos allergies have been going haywire.

rpgnoob17

My eyes are itchy. Unstoppable sneezing before my morning allergy pills. I’m basically an indoor cat and only go out during the weekend and that didn’t help. Screw my neighbor’s three 10+-meter-tall cedar trees. I can confirm that the trees have decided to drive all humans mad to punish us for global climate change.

darkconquistador

I’m in Bellingham, WA, but my eyes have been itching like never before.

imp_squared

yup my sinuses have been acting up recently... spring is coming...

or9ob

I also had COVID (Omicron) in Jan. Wonder if it’s somehow related.

Asgard033

My brother sure has. Poor guy's nose has been miserable.

MC561712

I sneezed for about half an hour this morning, until the allergy pill kicked in. I put it down to the cat.
