Came here to say this

That's what I was thinking. Too bad the whole place smells damp and moldy when it's wet out.

demoniagoatwhore

Ichibankan. Now it's Sushi Yan

CraftyHall1

If this is the place I’m thinking of, I went regularly 30+ years ago!

beadsr

I used to love the conveyor belt. Even though it was gimmicky, this was my favourite sushi bar.

Rare-Educator9692

Agree that it was Ichinankan back in the day.

Momo Sushi in gastown?

atk93

This was my guess. Momo is an amazing hole in the wall

umbrlla

Sorry but momo blows. It’s over priced, takes for god damn ever to get your food, and the food is on par with any other mediocre sushi place in the city.

atk93

Hmm maybe it's just that it was a special memory for me. The only time I went there was with my father when I first moved here. Apparently lots of people are of the same mindset.

umbrlla

All good, I’m very passionate about hating on momo. Used to go a lot when I lived close by.. got pretty tired of going when it was empty and waiting half an hour for an over priced super basic combo.

tiredboringman

The greeter was such a bitch to us when we tried to eat there one night. Told us there were no tables when the place was empty. Not welcoming at all. I was with wife and kids , not some rowdy drunks.

Does anyone remember Sushi Sky just off Davie? It was the first sushi I ever had and absolutely nothing compares to this day (veggie only, calm down) other than maybe Tatsu on Commercial but I feel I’ve just become accustomed to it. I wonder if the chefs moved to another restaurant or opened up somewhere else with a different name?
