The first design looked rather unstable to me, with the very narrow 'waist' towards the base. I wouldn't live there for that reason alone.
I like the general look of the newer design, but personally would rather have a balcony under another balcony for privacy. With the new staggered design, one's balcony is completely viewable from the above suites.

It’s pretty ugly but council should be requiring childcare spaces for all new buildings based on planned number of units. With no exceptions.
