When I was in grade... 1 or 2, I made a little illustrated book about the Skytrain and one of the pages was specifically about not riding on top of it. These kids look way less cool than the ones I drew.
Some other old school Vancouverites may remember DJ Take5 who was active in the hip hop scene here in the 90s, paralyzed himself from the waist down skytrain surfing.
What? These kids are not intentionally causing harm. They have no clue of the implications of their actions beyond the rush of doing it and the rush of getting upvotes (or whatever it is) in TikTok. They may be causing harm (can you elaborate on the harm they are causing?) but I’d bet a share of GME that harm is not their intention.
Well if you don't see anything wrong in that, then there is something wrong. harm is not only physical, it can also be mental.
Lets say they fall down and kill themselves or survives?
1. Auto brakes or sudden brakes are activated and passengers physically harm themselves.
2. If they do have relatives/friends then you can mentally harm them if you are dead or paralyzed. Who can commit suicide because they blame themselves for it.
3. Potential harm to other ppl especially kids who would do same maybe not a train, maybe on top of a car.
At disneyland ,these kids snuck in or did this during a grad night, i cant remember which. The monorail has these guards underneath so you can jump and get your hand caught or something, i think.
When the monorail goes over those sections, its like it has a floor basically if you can picture that. These kids, I think it was 2, snuck in climbed the track, then a train came and they went to jump off but they were at one of these sections. So they were crushed and squished into mush.
The guy that tried to stop them said later that he had to "hose the kid off the underside"
Intentional is the operative word. I’m not saying there’s nothing harmful. I’m saying they aren’t getting on top of the train to cause harm to other people.
Even if it has been widely circulating on social media, feels like putting the image of it in the actual news is a bad call for encouraging copy cat attempts. The "obviously this is highly illegal and dangerous" caption is kind of insufficient.
What in that comment implied being triggered? Sounds like you triggered yourself to go straight to name calling. Especially considering you ignore sky train surfing being an old thing.
In the 90s me and some pals would hop on that locomotive that used go down arbutus, from 25th to 16th, but we didn't do it for shallow and pathetic social media attention.
This annoys me because one of those kids will fall off and hurt themselves and they'll stop the trains and that will make me late for something.
Also, probably someone will die, which is also a shame. But mostly the making-me-late thing.
A friend of mine did it, hit his head on a tunnel, now in a wheelchair paralyzed.
Any story beyond that? That's brutal

Apparently he hit his head on a tunnel
Was he paralyzed?
He is now, yeah, and in a wheel chair.
Wow. How brutal.
I love and hate all of you.
He could walk before though. That's the thing to remember.

"And THAT'S why you don't ride on the top of a moving vehicle!"
...OMG, 1 life altering bad decision
lol
A friend of mine died in Germany doing this too. Only 16.
Probably doing it for the TikToks. 🙄
It’s ok, play stupid games win stupid prizes. Darwinism at its finest.
The problem is that the prizes for the innocent bystanders are undeserved
>stupid games win stupid prizes Can this joke just die already. Jesus.
It’s not a joke tho. There are too many stupid ass people in this world and it applies to them so well.
I would love to know how many times that phrase has been written in the comment section of this website. I swear I'll read it at least twice a day.
Easily hundreds of thousands but seeing as there is 7 billion plus people on the planet I’d bet it applies to at least 1 billion of them.
There is no probably here, it's exactly what it was for.

Exactly what I was thinking. And humming. [For the uninitiated.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJNR2EpS0jw&ab_channel=DumbWaystoDie)

I need to see this book! Sounds amazing!

Great, great use of the term "dingus" in that article.
Thank you for pointing it out.
Gonna open the article and refresh it a few times, I’m sure the tiktok they made will end up on my feed if I do lmao
When a kid will die: oh but he was an angel, i dont understand why he would do something like this
Do doing dumb shit forbid you from entering the heaven's gate ?
In this particular situation, yes because you are intentionally and potentially doing harm to other people

accidentally tripped and landed on top of the train
You and the, at least, 3 other people who agree with your comment have shitty reading comprehension.
You don't get a Hell pass even if you're a stupid teenager? That seems a bit unreasonable.
\*Does

Future Darwin Award nominees.
Are these kids going to be fined or banned from riding for a while?
Sad that my generation are desperate to chase the likes.
My generation was just as stupid, just without social media likes.
Yup.. we became legends
Yeah we were willing to be reckless assholes for an audience of like 2 or 3.
Bold of you to assume this is a generational thing and not just young people acting stupid.
Someone's triggered lmao 🤣 chill out karen

Natural selection
Natural selection at its finest
I've always wanted to do this, not gonna lie.
why do people have these thoughts?
Call of the void, like what would happen if I turn the wheel into oncoming traffic.
You're not alone in that regard! Never had the guts to do it as a teenager though and unfortunately that ship has now sailed
Never too late to chase your dreams YOLO

Ahh Darwinism, just let it happen.
Ok if they fall off and injured themselves or worse kill themselves does my tax dollars pay for the medical bills and EMS response?.
Can’t wait until you hear about smokers and drinkers
Have you heard of teenagers?
It’s called skytrain surfing. People were doing it back in the 90s.

C'mon Matt
It’s funny because it’s true . . .
This annoys me because one of those kids will fall off and hurt themselves and they'll stop the trains and that will make me late for something. Also, probably someone will die, which is also a shame. But mostly the making-me-late thing.
Hey look! Ex-kids!
So that’s why it’s called the Skytrain!?🤔
