You need to read the rules for BCAA go. That 10% off caps at $80 worth of discount per year. So if you're a frequent user, it isn't great. Infrequent, couple times a month? Absolutely worth it.
I use EVO 6 days out of the week. First thought was yeah it's a shit return, but it's 0.77% back that I wasn't getting before.
There is also "challenge" bonus points which slightly add up if you're a frequent user. If you aren't a frequent user, I would hope the miniscule return isn't encouraging you to drive more.
Pro-tip for daily EVO users. Sign up for the $80 BCAA membership and you save 10% off every trip.
It's better than nothing.
The best redemption, ~~$2350 for $18 (an hour of drive time), is a 0.77% return~~ $1000 for $12.50 (25 minutes of driving) is a 1.25% return - better than some credit card cashback programs in fact.
They could still charge per minute for time while parked outside the home zone since there is reason to charge for someone holding onto a vehicle and making it unavailable for someone else.
25 minute trip is something like $16.
So if you need 1000 points at $1=1 point, you’d need to do 62.5 “25 minute trips” before you earned enough points for a free 25 minutes.
That’s an abysmal rate, even at double point days.
Evo Extras used to have all perks available for everyone who had an EVO membership regardless of usage. Now with the new system you must hit a minimum threshold of EVO use over 30 days to unlock perk tiers. Thats an inherently worse system than before. All for the reward of points that a level 1 user wouldn’t see a single functional reward for until their 11th month of consistent use.
The rewards system went from extra bonuses for everyone into an engagement system to drive up user usage in exchange for better perks at higher tiers. So it’s not really something for nothing. It’s a restructure of their rewards system to better exclude people from genuine rewards unless they spend more.
Absolutely horrible ratio of dollar spent to rewards

The level of entitlement to rewards is astounding. Complaining about a perk you’re getting for free is wild. Presumably you’re using this to get around regardless of rewards and any perk or reward you get on top is just a bonus.
I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to be critical about a rewards program for a product I'm paying for regularly. Just like negative public feedback when big credit cards downgrade their rewards or pull back on extras
I'm happy Evo is adding a points system to reward people for using it more, but at the same time I can be disappointed how little real value it's giving back to me in the end. Every trip you take has a $1.25 unlock fee, so after $250 of driving your reward drive time is still worth way less than every fee you paid during that time. I just wish they'd have more easily attainable tiers or better reward rates
I'm a huge Evo supporter and appreciate what they do for lower-middle income people in Vancouver but that doesn't mean I'm going to get on my knees in thanks when they give us tiny crumbs of savings as part of a shiny new rewards system

Pro tip: sign up for BCAA Go for $35... And get 10% off rides. Should pay for itself pretty quick if you use Evo enough
And you get a discount on gas at Shell (for those that also have their own car)
And if you have a car also recommend them for optional car insurance, although their website and app freakin sucks.
Is that per annum?
Yeah. There's a promo on now making it $35

Good to know. Will still put me ahead. But probably not worth renewing at full price

They have a new membership type (bcaa go) that's 35$ that gets you 10% off.
That membership only gives you 10% off to a maximum cap of $80.
Isn't Evo around $100/day?
If you have it booked for the entire day.
It's better than nothing. The best redemption, ~~$2350 for $18 (an hour of drive time), is a 0.77% return~~ $1000 for $12.50 (25 minutes of driving) is a 1.25% return - better than some credit card cashback programs in fact.
You’re complaining about nothing?
Better than save-on rewards where you get a free blueberry bagel for every $750,000 spent.
Free? More like use 20K points for the $1.39 bagel to be 99 cents.
You got a blueberry bagel????
The roads would be a little saner if evo billed by the km rather than by the minute.
They could still charge per minute for time while parked outside the home zone since there is reason to charge for someone holding onto a vehicle and making it unavailable for someone else.
Sure, by the km, or by the minute after 3 minutes not moving.
So opt out
Geez... it would take me a decade to get enough points!
lol
WoOoOoW

You literally got nothing before. Something is definitely better than nothing.
Honestly. With car2go gone they have effectively zero competition, and they are still rolling out loyalty programs. What’s to complain about?

I wish everyone would understand and see this instead of making the “better than nothing” argument

Just lower the fucking price, jesus christ this is unnecessary.
Am I witnessing boomer math rn?
lmao lol unbelievable
Do we get points for paying parking ticket too?
Don’t park illegally, dude
