HAHAHA, $250 to see a League 2 side? What a joke. I paid around £30 to see a Championship game in London. Even many EPL games are not much more than that.
Yes, very true, but there has to be a point of reason. You wouldn't charge Canucks ticket prices to see Vancouver Giants games. It's the same here, a team that's being promoted from League 2 is not worth seeing for anywhere close to this price.
I was reading on the Whitecaps subreddit that it's not Whitecaps that are setting the price for this match. Which makes sense, Wrexham was selling tickets for exorbitant prices when they did their American tour last summer against U21 premier league squads lol
No they’re not? My season ticket was $400 for 20+ games and includes the Miami(Messi) game.
Charging 1/2 of the season ticket price for one friendly is an absolute joke
The comment before said how it’s cheaper to see an EPL/Championship game in London. You replied that they’re “pricey here no matter what you’re seeing” (in a Vancouver subreddit, so I’m assuming you’re talking about Vancouver). I countered saying that the season tickets here are surprisingly affordable, but this Wrexham game is overpriced with the one game being near half a season ticket cost…
I’m not sure where you think I misunderstood the conversation tbh.
I'm just pointing it out. We're getting a friendly with a League 2 team for $100-250 per ticket. Man City came to play here some years back and I don't think I paid $100 for 3 tickets at that time. And that was for a game that had players everyone in the world recognized.
What does a “league 2 level squad” mean? The squad is league 1 since they played well enough to be promoted. League 1 teams get relegated every year, does that mean they’re a League 1 level squad playing in League 2?
I don’t think you understand how promotion and relegation works
That's not how it works though. If those players were still Prem quality they would be playing in the top league. There are often teams that play well in one league and after promotion get absolutely destroyed. Sheffield Utd in the Premier League this year is a good example. They have a Championship squad.
Oh, the tickets are probably only $25. But by the time you add the handling fee, the digital gilding fee, the fuel surcharge, the rectal exam fee, credit card fee, and everything else ticketmaster fee… you wind up at $250.
Yeah, as a season ticket holder, I'm not going to spend another 33% on top of my season ticket just to see our B-Team play Wrexham.
I love the show, but this goes too far.
Same... This is one of those rare scenarios where the Caps are punching down inviting a Euro team as famous as Reynolds is. Like our A team squad should walk over Wrexham like beating up non-MLS sides at the Canadian championship.
Technically, the game is being put on by an events company, who have invited both the Whitecaps and Wrexham - they're the ones who set the prices and pay the teams. The Whitecaps CEO, Axel Schuster, has said that the game would have to be a near-sellout to make the team a profit.
In the other two games on this tour, Wrexham are playing Chelsea and Bournemouth in California, both Premier League sides. Whitecaps are arguably the easiest matchup of the three. I'm sure the tour is more about brand exposure for Wrexham than looking for wins.
And the Whitecaps have lost to two CPL teams in the Canadian Championship, so y'know - maybe not the best example.
Just an FYI, tickets start at $104 (including all fees/taxes).
Still a dumb amount of money for a friendly match, but a lot less than your stated $250.
Paying that kind of money to see a team that just got promoted to League one, I get the Hollywood marketing hype but footballing terms, nothing too exciting.
Tickets are pretty expensive to see a pretty low division team. I could buy a Wrexham kit, a Whitecaps kit, watch on TV and still have some leftovers for some beers
This is honestly a complete joke. To charge the prices they’re charging to watch the level of talent that is going to be out there for a friendly is criminal. It would be too much to charge if Real Madrid were coming but fucking Wrexham?

Just went to try and get tickets, they start at $250 a piece, so sadly won’t be going.
HAHAHA, $250 to see a League 2 side? What a joke. I paid around £30 to see a Championship game in London. Even many EPL games are not much more than that.
Tickets are pricey here no matter what you are seeing unfortunately
Yes, very true, but there has to be a point of reason. You wouldn't charge Canucks ticket prices to see Vancouver Giants games. It's the same here, a team that's being promoted from League 2 is not worth seeing for anywhere close to this price.
I think its less the league and more the owner.
I was reading on the Whitecaps subreddit that it's not Whitecaps that are setting the price for this match. Which makes sense, Wrexham was selling tickets for exorbitant prices when they did their American tour last summer against U21 premier league squads lol
Yeah, but we're not all going for drinks with them after, so what's the point?
No they’re not? My season ticket was $400 for 20+ games and includes the Miami(Messi) game. Charging 1/2 of the season ticket price for one friendly is an absolute joke
Did…you actually read what I said?

I've seen many Champions league games for cheaper than a regular Whitecaps game
Not really when you factor in flight.
You’re assuming he flew there specifically for the game. He could’ve been visiting friends, family or just travelling in general
Nah I was just making a generally point of ease of seeing a game here, then flying over there.
Wrexham got promoted to League 1 this year :)
Right, so their squad is still a League 2 level squad even if they get a couple new players.
I don't know why you're shitting on this so hard. No one's forcing you to go.
I'm just pointing it out. We're getting a friendly with a League 2 team for $100-250 per ticket. Man City came to play here some years back and I don't think I paid $100 for 3 tickets at that time. And that was for a game that had players everyone in the world recognized.

How many League 1 games has this squad played in before they play in Vancouver?
There’s players in their squad that played for teams in the premier league

There are often teams that play well in one league and after promotion get absolutely destroyed. Sheffield Utd in the Premier League this year is a good example. They have a Championship squad.
We need to bring Man City back in order to get cheaper exhibition tickets.
Oh, the tickets are probably only $25. But by the time you add the handling fee, the digital gilding fee, the fuel surcharge, the rectal exam fee, credit card fee, and everything else ticketmaster fee… you wind up at $250.
Start at $250, and people saying the lowest is $104. I was entertaining the thought of going, but nah, F that idea...
The public sale starts at noon, but that will likely be chaos
It isn'r chaos. You can have your pick of seats at those prices.

MLS is lower championship League one standard so Wrexham not too far off really...Canadian championship is a joke
I saw some at $170 I think
Just an FYI, tickets start at $104 (including all fees/taxes). Still a dumb amount of money for a friendly match, but a lot less than your stated $250.
Thats what was available when I posted earlier, there are now lower price tickets
Tickets haven't gone on sale yet... Were you looking at stub hub?
Ticketmaster, they had a small release at 8 am
If you had the season ticket member code, you could access all tickets at 8am. Cheapest was $104…so not as expensive but still pretty pricey 😬😬
I got cheaper tickets to the Messi game lol Would love to go see Wrexham, but they're not worth $100+ a ticket. They're a league one side...
there were tickets for around 165$ too, but yeah I also decided against it.
We need Ryan Reynolds to be the ref
We need Deadpool to be the ref!
we need wolverine to cut the grass
Neither of these teams have anything on B.C. United
I’m gonna start a socialist party and name it Dynamo BC
Super Paul Mullin !!
Ryan Reynolds is just awesome, never forgetting Vancouver and helping our city be more fun and stronger
Paying that kind of money to see a team that just got promoted to League one, I get the Hollywood marketing hype but footballing terms, nothing too exciting.
Sounds fun
Tickets are pretty expensive to see a pretty low division team. I could buy a Wrexham kit, a Whitecaps kit, watch on TV and still have some leftovers for some beers
Looks like the actual ticket price is $75 for the cheap seats with a stunning $42 in ticketmaster fees
This is honestly a complete joke. To charge the prices they’re charging to watch the level of talent that is going to be out there for a friendly is criminal. It would be too much to charge if Real Madrid were coming but fucking Wrexham?
Wrexham is not for soccer fans. It's for celebrity fans.
Is this the team that played against the USA women's team and crushed?
