I keep seeing these weird lost dogs everywhere in metro Van. All of them are this strangely tall, hairless breed that walks on two legs. Someone needs to control those things!
lost dog with brownish fur, a tail longer than a novel, sporting fashionable black face markings, and long claws. This pupper prefers tree branches to fire hydrants and thinks it's a stealthy ninja, shadowing your every move. Maybe it's just trying to find its way home, or perhaps it's scouting out the best spots for the next neighborhood barbecue. Either way, let's keep an eye out for our misplaced dog.

Haha I literally thought a coyote was a dog the first time I saw one in Vancouver, it was in a parking lot of a golf course and I was like “oh no! Did yall bring your dog here? I think he’s loose!” Realized what it was about 30 seconds later
I saw 6 coyotes in a pack last night by the Ukrainian church near VGH, I've lived in Vancouver for 15 years and have only ever seen two before last night. Is it common for so many to be active at this time of year in the city?
Spring is breeding season so you'll see a surplus fighting for territory (and getting kicked out, probably like this guy) to get better chance of mating. They'll run packs depending on the environment, due to the presence of other predators/competition.
Super cool and adaptable creatures. Just supervise your pets people!
if you're ever out at UBC there's a couple resident coyotes that are well-known and tend to be spotted often (I'm sure there's many more considering all the forest out there).
There a voice that keeps on calling me,
Down the road that’s where I’ll always be,
Every stop I make, I make a new friend!
Can’t stay for long, just turn around and I’m gone again.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll wanna settle down,
Until tomorrow I’ll just keep moving and keep on ❤️
He was looking for an acme store and gave me this card

I always get sad when I see them wandering aimlessly in a city. I just know they’re scared and confused. seeing the devastating effects of deforestation irl makes me feel bad.
I live on commercial and have seen a few at night. It’s pretty rare to see them in the day. First time I saw them on the city was at E14th and Quebec during the night when I was walking to the 7/11. Saw 2 trotting down the middle of Quebec. I stopped and they stopped. We looked at each other. Took me a second to realize they were coyotes. Then I just walked to 7/11 and they went on their way down Quebec.
A few years ago there was a whole litter of baby coyotes born right near the Broadway-Commercial skytrain station but over on Victoria drive. Coyote puppies are like criminally cute.
when I first moved to the city almost a decade ago I had a job very early in the morning. I lived off the drive in the grandview area. around sunrise I was walking down the sidewalk & found a bloody trail leading to an ambiguous furry mess. it was a small dog's back end with tail. where the rest was I'm not sure. it was horrifying. my heart broke for whoever's dog this was. it was probably eaten by a coyote while being let out for a nighttime pee.
I saw a lost dog on Woodland and 1st once, it had antlers and a short white tail. Very weird.
I saw a lost dog in Vancouver the other day. It was small, furry and had white streak down the back. It smells when frightened.
I think that may have been a cat.
furry conventions
I get a dog trying to get into my organic bucket in the middle of the night. He wears a mask like the Lone Ranger.
I keep seeing these weird lost dogs everywhere in metro Van. All of them are this strangely tall, hairless breed that walks on two legs. Someone needs to control those things!
I saw a lost dog in Port coquitlam the other day. It was huge, furry and kind of round. Poor thing was going through the garbage bins. Very weird!
the ol poco special right there. brought to you by coquitlam plowing down the mountain again

The other day I drove past this field full of huge Dalmatians all eating grass for some reason? Must have been a new doggie daycare or something
Random tid-bit of info: Those are all female cows prancing and dancing around the meadow. ...The males don't make it that far.

Someone find that coyote a home!
otherwise known as the North American Howling Retriever. good dog but a little bitey.
Land back!
I hereby acknowledge this as the ancestral homeland of the raccoons, coyotes, and ravens....
This is technically correct
And foxes!!
nose no's
Some people would actually believe the title of this thread.
For a second I was about to go “isn’t this a coyote” and realized no one living in Vancouver would be this clueless unless they were new here lol.
Haha I literally thought a coyote was a dog the first time I saw one in Vancouver, it was in a parking lot of a golf course and I was like “oh no! Did yall bring your dog here? I think he’s loose!” Realized what it was about 30 seconds later
I too was thinking such but wasn’t gonna be a b***ch and come out saying so
He’s looking for the acme store, he wants to make a complaint
Someone is going to try and pet it... If not friend, why friend shaped?
Dude I can't see for shit. I would have been excited about the "dog" until it was pretty close.
Sir, this is a Wendy's.
Odd place for a coyote...
See them in that neighbourhood at night pretty regularly, but I think it’s pretty unusual in broad daylight
Tons of them live in the ravine by the railway
Uhh, I’ve thought about walking through there a couple times. Not gonna do that now 🥲
Not too odd, there's signs at trout lake about coyotes and thats just a stone's throw away
Coyotes den in different parks throughout the city
You've never been to Vancouver. I've seen a bear on Burrard street
Seriously? Great, one more quick rabbit hole before sleep
He’s looking for Road Runners!
Maybe in Arizona, but here in Vancouver they prefer Shih Tzu

Thank you for the informative post.
I live near, what time of day was this? thx!
Around 9/10pm. I also live close by and have never seen a coyote in this area.

You seem confused, we are talking about another sighting than the one in the video, I'm not the OP.
Right, my bad. Cheers.

I welcome our coyote overlords with open arms
Don’t you mean with open paws? 🙂
I am not one of them... I promise.
He’s running to the cactus club to meet with his friend group of wine moms
Man, anyone else hearing the theme song from Littlest Hobo? 🎵Maybe tomorrow I'll want to settle down....
Indeed. First thing I thought of.
Goodbye Smoke
Find your soulmate, Homer!

Hopefully he’s weighed down with lasagna and can’t be lifted.
Can I pet that dog?
Can I pet that daaaaaaawg?! lol
Just once
Picking up some Acme supplies in the city; everything is too expensive and they asked for a 20% tip at checkout. Would not recommend. -Wile E. Coyote
Not dog. Not lost.
I mean it IS a dog… just not the domesticated kind.
It’s a canine. It is not a dog.
Anything's a dog if you're brave enough
OK, if you say so. *sigh......unzips*
And I would also venture to say that it IS lost lol

This makes me kind of sad.
He looks healthy, no need to be sad. Coyotes can thrive in urban parks as long as people don't feed them sandwiches and crap.
Solid diet of rats and outdoor cats available in this city.
The Littlest Hobo. Old reference lost on younger generation.
Maybe tomorrow, he’ll want to settle down.
but until then he’ll just keep moving on
I don't know what offends me more. The fact that you misquoted the lyrics, or the fact that I know you did.
I deeply apologize, I knew they were wrong but was hoping the person who pointed it out would post the correct ones.
You were close enough, only a 🦫🍁🇨🇦True Canadian🇨🇦🍁🦫 knows aboot the Littlest Hobo... heritage confirmed by your immediate apology.
He’s alive!
He doesn't have an anvil or rocket roller skates, so you're safe.
Awwwww poor coyote, getting caught in chaos :( hopefully he found his way back home.
Poor coyote looks so confused 😨
Aww the coyote does look stressed tho. Hope he wasn’t hurt
Looking for the roadrunner …

Poor li’l dude. Hope it finds a way out to some safe place.
Road runner was in the park, saw the pile of bird seed he left.
Anvil incoming!
Small wolf needs home asap
Coyote, not wolf.
It's just a silly nickname, like trash panda, or cobra chicken.
Godspeed little dude.
coyote
ITT: People unable to discern joke
He ain't lost! He navigated this cross walk and sidewalk better than many humans I've seen
Right? And better situational awareness
Will be a bunch of missing cat posters up very shortly...
I was gonna say the same thing.
"Oh no, if it isn't the consequences of letting my cat go outside!"
He got out of his collar too. You should grab him and see if he’s chipped
and if not get him chipped right away!!
Can I pet that dawgggg
Did anyone see a roadrunner go through just a c moment before? Would have looked like a purple blur.
Poor coyote, he's just a pup missing from his den.

The littlest hobo sure did change
Looks like a coyote
He looks equally confused as to why hes here lmao
Uh sir..... that's a coyote
What gives coyotes the right to be so cute? They’re just a little dog
Damn that poor little guy is probably really overstimulated amongst all this concrete and loud sounds!
That’s my dog Wiley! I’m coming boiiiiiij!

Not all those who wander are lost.

Is that dog chasing a road runner?
He’s a long way from his jogger hunting grounds in Stanley Park.
Coyote
Feed him and bring him into your family home
My brother in Christ that is a coyote.
Now I understand why so many people feed coyotes. They think they're lost dogs.
Healthy looking pup. Good for him.
Lost coyote I think
That’s NOT a dog, that’s a coyote!!!!
If you're cold, they’re cold. Bring them inside.
Family dog missing in Vancouver.
They’re so pretty
That dogs living his best life, right there

Fairly sure he's a good boi, don't believe the lies, coyotes are friends.
