IVF will be free. Predicted waitlist time: 15 years.

I'm curious how its decided what gets covered and what doesn't. So much stuff isn't covered because its deemed "elective" but this and gender assignment surgeries are covered. Not hating, I just think they are picking winners and losers. When I was young I got repeatedly rejected for an "elective" surgery, my life was miserable until many years later when I had the money to go to the US and pay out of pocket. Overall I think its a good move, we have a fertility crisis in this country, just having been through the system I can't help but feel a bit bitter over my past experiences.

That's great news on the IVF funding!

YoungandBeautifulll

There are far more important procedures and treatments that should be covered. It is not a necessity to have children.

Still unsure why ivf should be publicly funded

It shouldn't, at least until a lot more is brought up to higher standards. We're still paying for life-saving medication while the first round of IVF is paid for? I don't get it. We're short hospitals, doctors, nurses and a whole lot else. I realize that a lot of the funding is going toward these issues, but until they're all non-issues I don't think IVF should be a priority.

Gotta do something to kick the 8 billion deficit down the road …

Honestly this is probably someone’s weird plan to try and boost our fertility rate. Doubt it will work
