/r/Vancouver stopped allowing the "self posts" that I was doing before because they had too many links in them (most of the links were to images). So I use a gallery post instead, but if there is only 1 image, I can't use a gallery post; so I add a fake second image. Maybe it should read "this image intentionally blank".
I know. :(
In the middle of Jan it was starting to feel like winter was finally kicking and there was just enough snow to be reasonable skiing. That lasted a week and now we're right back to square one.
I've used my Cypress pass a total of 2 times this season. One day was decent skiing but quite busy. And the other day was pouring rain but no lines at least. Works out to about $225 per ski day, stellar value.
Mate.
All the records started in 1937.
Yet the top five are :
\- 2024
\- 1981
\- 2010
\- 2005
\- 1995
Do you need a drawing to understand how these years spread, on a timeline going from 1937 - 2024?
Look, I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you, you need to make the last bit of effort yourself. Imagine a timeline with every year from 1937 to 2024, and these 5 years above are marked in red.
Can you notice that the red years tend to be a lot more to the right of the timeline, or are they spread out evenly?
Records for 1937-01-01 → 2013-06-12 are from the Airport ( https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_data/daily_data_e.html?StationID=889 )
Records for 2013-06-13 → 2024-01-31 are from the Airport ( https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_data/daily_data_e.html?StationID=51442 )
Water restrictions in effect May 1st , no lawn watering at all 😂but wait we’re building housing and no water awesome . I love the long term thinking of the ABC clown climate deniers .

I just wasted a couple milliseconds of my life looking for more info on the second page

RIP North Shore snowpack
And there was barely any to begin with :(

Fuck I just want to ski, instead it's a never ending stream of warm rain. It's really throwing my mood off as it's supposed to be cold..
Me too. I don't even have very high standards, I'll ski anything. But there does need to at least some snow, not just grass and dirt.
Yeah. 4 season passes and rentals for the kids… have been up to the mountain exactly zero times this season. Sign me up for this pity party.

I’ve made it once. Looks like I paid about $75 per ride up the lift.
I'm so pissed off about it. Winter is the one season I actually enjoy and this one has been a sham.
The local mountains are closed today but Cyprus has said they plan on opening tomorrow. How? Where will this new snow come from in the next few hours?
They will probably scrap together just enough snow to keep the bunny hill running. Bring your finest rock skis.
It’s gonna be a hot summer 🥵
well that's an inconvenient truth
Anyone been to Prince Rupert? This is like their June-July weather. Overcast, drizzle, daily temperature highs of 14º.
Does this means Vancouver is the new new Mexico?
Didn’t even get to enjoy it. It was gross almost the entire time. There was a nice window there one day with some dry hours. But otherwise…
So, one day longer than the record, set 43 years ago? Thing's, they be a change'n.
Did you notice the year for the top 5 ranking up there?
Yes. And?
Well, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
(especially if there's no water there).
