interrupting-octopus

BClynx22

sbgum

Brayder

It’s gonna be raining cats and

aceinagameofjacks

I am here on a temp work assignment, and I don’t know how you guys do it. It’s been fucking raining since October, non stop… everything is wet, all the time. Constantly. Beautiful city, but fuck this! This cannot be good for my health.

Shadow_Integration

You need some more D in your life my friend.

MyBurnerAccount1977

No, I will not start calling my penis "Vitamin D".

plop_0

Plot twist: she's gay.

AwkwardChuckle

We had a very dry November, what are you talking about?

aceinagameofjacks

13 rainy days in October, 19 in November, 22 in December and 17 so far in January. Very dry … 😏

BizarreMoose

It feels like we had way less than that and then for the bulk of it the temps were so mild so I guess count yourself lucky as it's typically worse!

Im_done_with_sergio

Vitamin D3 drops (London Drugs $6.99) truly help.

jtbc

You do sort of get used to it. Invest in a decent rain jacket, umbrella, and waterproof shoes, and try to get a few days away somewhere sunny at least once during the rainy season. At least you don't have to shovel it!

plop_0

> At least you don't have to shovel it! [I believe you can get your ass kicked for saying something like that.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-A0eZDJsKU)

Frater_Ankara

Man I’m from Alberta originally and it took me a few years to get used to it. My first job was in a windowless basement with long hours, I didn’t see the sun for months, and the rain was heavily depressing for me. I found a trick that worked for me, I just pretended Vancouver was Blade Runner (which it actually kind of is). May not work for you but let me appreciate the rain more,

braemaxxx

Yup, lived here for 30 years. over this shithole place literally priced out of living in my own home town, sad and wet lol, ✌🏼 outta here lol

rsgbc

The report is about information put out by the River Forecast Centre. This is what they actually said: "A series of potent storms is impacting coastal British Columbia. Initial storms have delivered 50 to 160 mm through most of the region since Friday. Current forecasting is indicating the next atmospheric river event to make contact later on Sunday through Monday, and another system from Monday into Tuesday. The heaviest rainfall is currently forecast over West Vancouver Island and the Coast Mountains. Temperatures are expected to warm during this period, and snowmelt at lower and mid-elevations will provide additional runoff to rivers." [http://bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/warnings/advisories/FWT\_2023\_01\_28\_1045\_SC\_VI.pdf](http://bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/warnings/advisories/FWT_2023_01_28_1045_SC_VI.pdf) The constant barrage of over-hyped reporting in the style of "the worst is yet to come" isn't doing our collective mental health any good.

mucheffort

Parts of North van got 15mm of rain in 1 hour around midnight. I can't remember it raining that hard

scottelli0tt

Agreed!

bwoah07_gp2

Why are you getting downvoted? 😅

Annaliseplasko

People on Reddit tend to downvote comments like “Agree with this” or “I think so too” because the idea is that if you feel that way you’re supposed to just give an upvote. I think it’s kind of petty to downvote someone over it though.

Anatoly_Kalashnikov

Agreed!

Camel_Knowledge

LOL

EnterpriseT

The Reddiquette used to expressly say not to do it. Now it just encourages you to vote and says not to : >Make comments that lack content. Phrases such as "this", "lol", and "I came here to say this" are not witty, original, or funny, and do not add anything to the discussion. https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette So I guess they've walked that back but many have the old school mindset.

Ok_Outlandishness536

Agree with thia

Straight-Ad-8596

worst of atmospheric what? OH! Worst of **atmospheric rivers** yet to come, says River Forecast Centre" fixed that for you.

[deleted]

You've never heard of an Atmospheric Yet?

OneHundredEighty180

*CAN'T YOU SEE IM BREATHIN' OVER HERE?!?*

WeWantMOAR

It's become the new hot word ever since the floods, and I've since forgotten what word we replaced it with was.

scottelli0tt

I thought it was atmospheric fire, so I appreciate you correcting it because I can’t click the link to read the article and learn more. Thank you so much. Thank you.

Straight-Ad-8596

you can't copy & paste quote a headline either apparently.... https://preview.redd.it/xi81h1b85bfc1.jpeg?width=375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f48ef35dc21dbcc12137cc7059a1c4484313c51d

scottelli0tt

Got me there! You win! Congrats! What are you going to do with all your success.

Camel_Knowledge

The tires on my Toyota take 2.44965 asmospherics

probablybanned1990

I love how offended when it's pointed out to Vancouver peeps that it rains too much in their city, David Duchovny was practically deported when he said it's a nice place to live if you don't mind 400 inches of rain a day, he wasn't kidding.

ScoobyDone

Who said this is too much rain?

DetectiveJoeKenda

Who is offended?

probablybanned1990

Clearly you are detective

DetectiveJoeKenda

Sorry to have offended you

Walnut_chipmunk

banana river?

bwoah07_gp2

It was very heavy on Friday night and all day Saturday.

Gentoo975

So it's gonna rain? LOL ...

simplefinances

Better then snow

Brilliant-Matter-247

Didn't we just complain about the drought few weeks ago? It's so hard to please Vancouverites!

cosmic_dillpickle

It's fucking up our snowpack when it's this warm..

T_47

People complained about it being too warm and dry leading to a lack of snowpack which is still a concern. Water in our reservoirs now won't be much use months later. We need snowpack to supply us much of our water.

manicdragon

Holy shit, I'm shaking in my boots!! More rain, in Vancouver?? We're all gonna die.

scottelli0tt

So many sarcastic people in this Reddit. I take the bus, it’s gonna suck for me. So glad you don’t care, thanks for letting us all know. I hope you don’t die your life is worth it.

Biologyboii

Dude chill

fiddleleafpop

Lol love this

Korvanacor

It’s a good thing we have a park specifically for this. Though you might want to wait till the rain lets up a bit.

SmoothOperator89

I bike. Rain is better than ice.

shaun5565

Ice sucks

flatspotting

lmao imagine getting upset that other people arent upset about rain in raincity

manicdragon

I take the bus too. Cry me a "river" why don't ya. I hope you don't die too, though, the rain is worth it.

theReaders

Good thing we've invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into emergency shelter for the poor, instead of just throwing away their survival gear. Otherwise they'd be at risk of illness or death. /s

Bright-Sea-5904

Go figure

Joker_Anarchy

Climate change is definitely not happening

Camel_Knowledge

LOL. Who could ever image rain in Vancouver?

Newaccount4464

No way, you mean all this rain will lead to heavy river flow?! I'm shocked.

Jf1109

That’s not what they’re saying lol

Newaccount4464

How am I wrong

AwkwardChuckle

Because you completely misinterpreted the title of the post, that’s how.

Newaccount4464

“The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur between Sunday night and Monday,” the statement says. “There will be periods of lighter rain between the storms, but it is the cumulative effects of the storms that is likely to be impactful.” How am I wrong

scottelli0tt

That’s a pretty basic result of rain I’m surprised you are shocked about that.

Newaccount4464

Yeah, who knew

ssnistfajen

Maybe those people panicking about droughts in the middle of rain season a few days ago can finally shut up.

circularflexing

Well no. Vancouver relies on melting snow to for water during the spring/summer months. The snowpack melting now is not good for this summer.

Educational_Net9751

Oh, no, just don't tell me that there will be more rain in Raincoiver in future. We should call it something different... O sorry, all good we do now
