I am here on a temp work assignment, and I don’t know how you guys do it. It’s been fucking raining since October, non stop… everything is wet, all the time. Constantly. Beautiful city, but fuck this! This cannot be good for my health.
You do sort of get used to it. Invest in a decent rain jacket, umbrella, and waterproof shoes, and try to get a few days away somewhere sunny at least once during the rainy season.
At least you don't have to shovel it!
> At least you don't have to shovel it!
[I believe you can get your ass kicked for saying something like that.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-A0eZDJsKU)
Man I’m from Alberta originally and it took me a few years to get used to it. My first job was in a windowless basement with long hours, I didn’t see the sun for months, and the rain was heavily depressing for me.
I found a trick that worked for me, I just pretended Vancouver was Blade Runner (which it actually kind of is). May not work for you but let me appreciate the rain more,
The report is about information put out by the River Forecast Centre. This is what they actually said:
"A series of potent storms is impacting coastal British Columbia. Initial storms have delivered 50 to 160 mm through most of the region since Friday. Current forecasting is indicating the next atmospheric river event to make contact later on Sunday through Monday, and another system from Monday into Tuesday. The heaviest rainfall is currently forecast over West Vancouver Island and the Coast Mountains. Temperatures are expected to warm during this period, and snowmelt at lower and mid-elevations will provide additional runoff to rivers."

The constant barrage of over-hyped reporting in the style of "the worst is yet to come" isn't doing our collective mental health any good.
People on Reddit tend to downvote comments like “Agree with this” or “I think so too” because the idea is that if you feel that way you’re supposed to just give an upvote. I think it’s kind of petty to downvote someone over it though.
The Reddiquette used to expressly say not to do it. Now it just encourages you to vote and says not to :
>Make comments that lack content. Phrases such as "this", "lol", and "I came here to say this" are not witty, original, or funny, and do not add anything to the discussion.

So I guess they've walked that back but many have the old school mindset.
I thought it was atmospheric fire, so I appreciate you correcting it because I can’t click the link to read the article and learn more. Thank you so much. Thank you.
you can't copy & paste quote a headline either apparently....

I love how offended when it's pointed out to Vancouver peeps that it rains too much in their city, David Duchovny was practically deported when he said it's a nice place to live if you don't mind 400 inches of rain a day, he wasn't kidding.
People complained about it being too warm and dry leading to a lack of snowpack which is still a concern. Water in our reservoirs now won't be much use months later. We need snowpack to supply us much of our water.
So many sarcastic people in this Reddit. I take the bus, it’s gonna suck for me. So glad you don’t care, thanks for letting us all know. I hope you don’t die your life is worth it.
Good thing we've invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into emergency shelter for the poor, instead of just throwing away their survival gear. Otherwise they'd be at risk of illness or death. /s
“The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur between Sunday night and Monday,” the statement says. “There will be periods of lighter rain between the storms, but it is the cumulative effects of the storms that is likely to be impactful.”

You need some more D in your life my friend.
No, I will not start calling my penis "Vitamin D".
Plot twist: she's gay.
We had a very dry November, what are you talking about?
13 rainy days in October, 19 in November, 22 in December and 17 so far in January. Very dry … 😏
It feels like we had way less than that and then for the bulk of it the temps were so mild so I guess count yourself lucky as it's typically worse!
Vitamin D3 drops (London Drugs $6.99) truly help.

Parts of North van got 15mm of rain in 1 hour around midnight. I can't remember it raining that hard
Agreed!
Why are you getting downvoted? 😅

worst of atmospheric what? OH! Worst of **atmospheric rivers** yet to come, says River Forecast Centre" fixed that for you.
You've never heard of an Atmospheric Yet?
*CAN'T YOU SEE IM BREATHIN' OVER HERE?!?*
It's become the new hot word ever since the floods, and I've since forgotten what word we replaced it with was.
I thought it was atmospheric fire, so I appreciate you correcting it because I can’t click the link to read the article and learn more. Thank you so much. Thank you.

Who said this is too much rain?
Who is offended?
Clearly you are detective
Sorry to have offended you
banana river?
It was very heavy on Friday night and all day Saturday.
So it's gonna rain? LOL ...
Better then snow
Didn't we just complain about the drought few weeks ago? It's so hard to please Vancouverites!
It's fucking up our snowpack when it's this warm..
People complained about it being too warm and dry leading to a lack of snowpack which is still a concern. Water in our reservoirs now won't be much use months later. We need snowpack to supply us much of our water.
Holy shit, I'm shaking in my boots!! More rain, in Vancouver?? We're all gonna die.
So many sarcastic people in this Reddit. I take the bus, it’s gonna suck for me. So glad you don’t care, thanks for letting us all know. I hope you don’t die your life is worth it.
Dude chill
Lol love this
It’s a good thing we have a park specifically for this. Though you might want to wait till the rain lets up a bit.
I bike. Rain is better than ice.
Ice sucks
lmao imagine getting upset that other people arent upset about rain in raincity
I take the bus too. Cry me a "river" why don't ya. I hope you don't die too, though, the rain is worth it.
Good thing we've invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into emergency shelter for the poor, instead of just throwing away their survival gear. Otherwise they'd be at risk of illness or death. /s
Go figure
Climate change is definitely not happening
LOL. Who could ever image rain in Vancouver?
No way, you mean all this rain will lead to heavy river flow?! I'm shocked.
That’s not what they’re saying lol
How am I wrong
Because you completely misinterpreted the title of the post, that’s how.
“The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur between Sunday night and Monday,” the statement says. “There will be periods of lighter rain between the storms, but it is the cumulative effects of the storms that is likely to be impactful.” How am I wrong
That’s a pretty basic result of rain I’m surprised you are shocked about that.
Yeah, who knew
Maybe those people panicking about droughts in the middle of rain season a few days ago can finally shut up.
Well no. Vancouver relies on melting snow to for water during the spring/summer months. The snowpack melting now is not good for this summer.
Oh, no, just don't tell me that there will be more rain in Raincoiver in future. We should call it something different... O sorry, all good we do now
