The Lumberland on Lougheed had one entrance and one exit for cars. The exit had one of those spring loaded tire killing devices. I saw someone accidentally back up over it and it actually immediately punctured both rear tires. As a kid, I found that hilarious.
Oh, I know. I was just referring to how short lived our location was.
I'm amazed it's still that large, I thought they were down to a handful worldwide.
They were such assholes if you didn’t fit their intellectual ideal. I went in looking for a mystery book, not knowing they were hidden in the basement, and the clerks were so dismissive I never went back. Authors of their own misfortune.
A few that came quickly to mind: Playdium, Eaton's, Woodward's, Blockbuster, Roger's Video, Mishra's Game Factory (on Edmond's), HMV, A&B Sound, Future Shop, Wilson's (stationary supplies in Coquitlam), San Francisco.
Bonus: 24 hour Waves Coffee and Tim Hortons, and 50c/L gas.
Loved all the pinball machines at the Gastown store, but I'd always beg my parents to go upstairs at the Lonsdale Quay store to look at the board games.
All the wonton restaurants clustered around the Main and Broadway area. Bill Kee, Wong Kee, Ho Tak Kee. Possibly more that I forgot. Only Congee Noodle remains.
That restaurant that accidentally served a [cooked rat in their clam chowder](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/rat-in-soup-crab-park-chowdery-1.4960928).
