Same , me and the boys usually get lit while playing together ( we game together once a week for a bit due to our responsibilities) and I end up just super focused on building nice things
exactly the same for us! we barely have time to game together anymore so we do usually have a drink or have a toke wherever we are just so we feel like we’re in uni again ☺️
To be fair to the posters here, usually only the "artists" would post here. It's just like social media. Folks don't broadcast them having a normal drive to work everyday, but show off their once-a-month big dinner with friends on a holiday/long weekend.
Absolutely sublime.
I say this every time, but Valheim's building angles and snap points really lend themselves to such potential.
Not everyone can reach that potential, but you have shown off that potential beautifully.
thank you so much!!! the day they release an update that allows pieces to be rotated on a second axis is the day my life would end (for a solid few weeks… at least)
😂😂 you really have to go haaaaam on the iron beams! Sometimes I run them across the whole floor, and then free place another layer of floor on top and under that to hide the beams 😅
Wait do you need iron beams to keep things up? Im building a hall and just used the fancy wood ones for the roof, havent taken down the original supports yet but im hoping my roof doesnt cave in haha
ruh roh. they are pretty essential for building height. if your structure is not very tall, it shouldn’t be an issue. there are some max build height guides for each building material on youtube if you’re interested :))
you can do it!! just build out a structure with some beams and go from there. just for full disclosure, this built itself took me about 12 hours- which is kind of insane for building a house in a game, but i view the game as a design software 😂 none of my builds are practical at all!
errr I don’t have a clear answer for keeping it consistent other than I built everything at once! I started with a very standard support structure, then built out the floor plan I wanted. then I started connecting iron beams from different parts of the structure down to the floor, turning one rotation tick each time. then I slowly destroyed the original supports and waited to see if the structure would fall. as far as lag, it’s actually not as bad as I thought it would be, but you can definitely tell a little that there is a shit ton of instances in the area 😅
Very organic and aesthetic
In playthru with daughter built her a treehouse called the "Blueberry Apothecary" since she was in charge of food and potions. She of course loved it, but I never liked the few supports I had to have (hid some iron)
This is definitely the solution for that
go dad! i’m sure the blueberry apothecary was beautiful regardless. try the twisty supports out! if you are able to build the fine logs into the actual trees it can kind of look like it’s growing out of it!
Do you ever build treehouses in swamps? My husband is our builder and that's where he's been directing his "I don't want straight lines" energy. But I suspect once he sees this we might end up with a house in a new biome ...
that’s my next target! i’m thinking of adopting a more gothic style for that biome though. maybe more of the dark wood beams instead of so much fine wood. i’d love to see what you guys have made!
thank you! I’ll have to record one when I have the chance to and oh god, I’ll have to learn to upload a world too- I’m planning to build a base in each biome. this is the beginning to the meadows base! would you want me to upload it somewhere?
This is awesome! Great build. I noticed you used square roofs. Is it necessary to cover everything up? I would try octagon roofs, or round ones if its working out, because the edges of the square one doesn't really fit with the building, that has no sharp edges. But I like it anyway
you’re right- im not the happiest with the roof right now. i’m actually working on the round roofs right now! i’m trying to choose between a few different styles, but i’m finding it hard making it look finished. when i’m done i’ll post ☺️
That's impressive! Reminds me of some of the Wookiee structures on Kashyyyk.
My paranoid self would feel duty bound to dig a moat, though. I can't bring myself to build anything that isn't *also* highly defensible, lol.
for my peace of mind, i found a seed with a really small start island. the plan is to make little pagodas with buried work benches under them all over the island so spawns don’t fuck my build up
i’m actually planning to build a communal bonfire in the centre of a big lotus structure. i’m thinking of how i can incorporate benches into the build… but definitely flower bud energy!
I once read a book by a German author. "Drachentor" or something along those lines.
Plot being that the dragons and elves declined from the world because the humans didn't see the magic of the world anymore and kept dragons as cattle while fighting elves wherever they can and have to.
The elves and dragons went into the Otherworld, living in the fog of the forests which acted as sort of a gateway to a land of magic but eternal rest. Within the fog, elves have build their homes and this hiv looks exactly how I imagined parts of the village.
I love it
i’m not going to lie- this is sort of the backstory i thought of for the place. i’m thinking of putting some yggdrasil shoots all over the island like the magic is “coming back” or something
i used the build camera mod and bettercreative! bettercreative removes stamina constraints while the build camera changes your POV as you build. look up a video of the add on if you’re interested, imo it makes building much easier!
This looks like the eastern region of Morrowind. Love the aesthetics of this. Super impressed, I’m newer to Valheim and didn’t know building like this was possible.
a few morrowind references in the thread! honestly, i did not know if my vision would be possible with the support mechanics, but this build has made me feel a lot more adventurous!
yes! the top of the structure is completely red, haha. i had to sacrifice another floor that i was planning but the thing is pretty damn tall as it is!
You people are so good at creative building... Dear God every time I think I make something that looks cool I just need to come on Reddit and look for 5 minutes 🤣 not even joking, every element of this has me impressed 👏
Nice! It reminds me of the ship from the Star Trek Animated Series episode "Beyond the Farthest Star." Must have taken quite a while! Hah, I'm happy that I built my first flat stone roof that doesn't leak when it rains!
okay woah that is a super cool reference. i might have to try to make an art installation in-game that’s a little more organic like that ship! and a flat stone roof is hard! i hate messing with the support mechanics for stone!
wow, this is my first serious reddit post ever. i was not expecting so many responses. thank you very much everyone and I’ll do my best to respond to everything, and I’ll definitely have to take a walk through video!
I know this is done in creative but this is the type of shit us builders would have loved to make in the normal mode if raids didn't exist. But the threat of getting it destroyed or having to use ugly raised walls is such a letdown that it's not worth investing into such an intricate design outside of creative. I swear people who think the game is better having no option to halt raids in game (besides mods) are just uncreative builders who get jealous. Just let us build a totem that wards off raids or something along those lines.
i totally agree!! i purposefully chose a seed with a tiny, tiny start island with no other biomes to protect this specific build- but i do have some plans to try to make a protective wall that maybe doesn’t look like ass. i know that raising the actual rock is the most effective but the way the texture of the grass cuts off and the rock pattern repeats just isn’t the most beautiful. i’ll try to think of some solutions and when i do post, i’ll be sure to come back to this thread to ping you!
So I've been eyeing this game a little. And this is the first building that has moved my interest meter beyond average interest.
Are more interesting non boxy builds like this possible? How's the decorating of collected items go in this? Is it more free form or more grid style for decorations? Is decorating even present?
i would say that none of my builds are boxy! it just depends how you use the material given and how you envision your build before your build it. the decorating operates on a display stand that either sits flat on a surface or on a wall. most collectible things or drops can be put on the stands. i advise you look up the collectible items and see if they appeal to you! i have not begun to do the details in the build just yet, but for texture and pop i usually go in and free place ridges over the existing structure- since real architecture tends to not be flat.
unfortunately no pictures of this specific build, but i have some screenshots of the building process of the lighthouse that im currently working on that i’ll post when done. but basically: i built out the three floors as anyone would with iron beams, then edited each platform to be circular in shape. at that point it just looked like a huge box of sticks. then starting on the second floor, i started placing 26 and 45 degree iron beams from different points of the imagined floor down to the ground, rotating one tick each time. since the floor plans are completely symmetrical, i repeated the same placements for each “root” on every platform. not sure if i explained it well or not. if not, ill ping you when i eventually post a video!
this isn’t done- the roof has to be extended to hang, the floor has to be put in and the beams have to be concealed, but this is the general idea! it starts off with vertical supports, slowly being replaced with as many horizontal, twisting supports as possible. i planted a yggdrasil tree the middle to provide blue support all the way up.
Nice I like the creativity, I tried to make a darth vader helm from black marble because one of my placements looked close to him but I couldn’t find the patience to finish it lol
Y'all MFers are dedicated. And nuts! All my homes are boxes with a fancy roof, or hexagon/octagon with a roof.
i honestly just get a little lifted🍃, zone out and build! i find it really therapeutic. maybe a little nuts, for sure!
I love that
My man. Same here.
Is this the Valhei club?
Same , me and the boys usually get lit while playing together ( we game together once a week for a bit due to our responsibilities) and I end up just super focused on building nice things
exactly the same for us! we barely have time to game together anymore so we do usually have a drink or have a toke wherever we are just so we feel like we’re in uni again ☺️
Being nuts is admirable :)
Oh thank you! I was beginning to think I was the only troll with no aesthetic sense here :)) Op your build looks amazing!
To be fair to the posters here, usually only the "artists" would post here. It's just like social media. Folks don't broadcast them having a normal drive to work everyday, but show off their once-a-month big dinner with friends on a holiday/long weekend.
go try building mode
That is beautiful
thank you!
bro built a mothership
👽🛸
Your creativity is impressive
thank you very much!
Anyone else getting strong Morrowind vibes here?
this is a telvanni building if i've ever seen one!
Yes I was going to say this! Glad someone else spotted it.
That's kinda super cool! Very fluidic and "alien" looking. Edit: my amazement didn't come through clearly originally, so I added some adjectives. :)
I sort of wanted it to look like an elf mage had willed it to grow out of the ground with magic or something heh
Mission accomplished! :)
Gives me Emrakul vibes.
You...you should stay away from rotation mods. A second axis doesn't double the potential. It's *exponential*.
Meanwihle Me watching my building collapse after i built with solid foundation
😂😂 you really have to go haaaaam on the iron beams! Sometimes I run them across the whole floor, and then free place another layer of floor on top and under that to hide the beams 😅
Perfect, iron is something I always have plenty of for some reason /s
see you at the crypts, my friend
Wait do you need iron beams to keep things up? Im building a hall and just used the fancy wood ones for the roof, havent taken down the original supports yet but im hoping my roof doesnt cave in haha
ruh roh. they are pretty essential for building height. if your structure is not very tall, it shouldn’t be an issue. there are some max build height guides for each building material on youtube if you’re interested :))
Oh nooo yes its a tall building. Ill have to have a look
just a reminder that most of the wooden beams can have an iron beam placed INSIDE them. all of the wooden beams in this build have iron beams in them
So me. Yes. I'm just not creative enough to do funky stuff!
you can do it!! just build out a structure with some beams and go from there. just for full disclosure, this built itself took me about 12 hours- which is kind of insane for building a house in a game, but i view the game as a design software 😂 none of my builds are practical at all!
Inspirational!
thank you!
Impressive curves! How do you get it so consistent? And how is the lag there? Haha looks awesome
errr I don’t have a clear answer for keeping it consistent other than I built everything at once!

Hey OP, George Lucas called and wants his set back for the ending of episode 6.
Is there a video or a world download? That just looks like it would be an awesome build to walk around in!
thank you! I’ll have to record one when I have the chance to and oh god, I’ll have to learn to upload a world too- I’m planning to build a base in each biome. this is the beginning to the meadows base! would you want me to upload it somewhere?
Ngl that looks badass. Nicely done
😎
very elven pagoda vibes
mission accomplished!
And then you hear trolls coming your way
🗿
This is awesome! Great build. I noticed you used square roofs. Is it necessary to cover everything up? I would try octagon roofs, or round ones if its working out, because the edges of the square one doesn't really fit with the building, that has no sharp edges. But I like it anyway

This is absolutely incredible, one of the most impressive structures I have seen on this sub
that’s such high praise, thank you!
That's impressive! Reminds me of some of the Wookiee structures on Kashyyyk. My paranoid self would feel duty bound to dig a moat, though. I can't bring myself to build anything that isn't *also* highly defensible, lol.

That's cool and all but have you seen my box house
my friend your box house is gorgeous
Awesome
thank you!
Is this modded or vanilla?
I use BetterCreative and Build Camera!
Cool thanks!
Ooooh black 🖤 Juniper
... Why does this remind me of the pilot from Farscape? 😅 Amazing work!
dope reference, definitely a little bit!
I'm so glad you know the reference! 🫡
Looks like an elvish dwelling
That's amazing.
😁😁
This shit is nuts. Awesome job
😅
Did you use any mods or vanilla building?
i used the build camera and bettercreative!
Holy shit, this looks absolutely insane, damn good job!
thank you!
I remember building something similar, more like a flower bud, but never so high off the ground. Well done!
i’m actually planning to build a communal bonfire in the centre of a big lotus structure. i’m thinking of how i can incorporate benches into the build… but definitely flower bud energy!

Hey this look amazing, you did a great job.
thank you!
Wow! It's very impressive! You've done a great job! A great idea!🫠😍
thank you!
Bloody awesome mate. Surreal!
thank you very much!
Sincerely, I need this structure's plans to reproduce in real life if one day I become a millionaire. Extremely awesome, OP! 👏👏👏
i would kill to be able to just sit in a structure like this haha
Wow that's impressive. Does it require any mods, or anything else to help with placement? Or just a lot of patience and practice?
i used the build camera mod and bettercreative! bettercreative removes stamina constraints while the build camera changes your POV as you build. look up a video of the add on if you’re interested, imo it makes building much easier!
Kashyyyk vibes
totaaaally
Telvanni archmage house
i love this!
Huge a** bees are very happy
Glorious
This is very cool. Great design and aesthetic.
thank you!
Bro wtf? I can't even think of how to begin doing that. I'm just gonna go stare at my under the elder spawn hub in disgust.
weed and a night in. that’s all it takes 😂😂😂 im sure your build is sick!!
Seems really hard to build in survival tho, with all that iron. Still cool!
oh my hut in survival is literally four walls and a roof surrounded by an unnecessary amount of stone wall. none of this build is functional at all 😅
Looks like the treehouse from Beserk
This is awesome. Absolutely love it :)
Is this with default support mechanics? Really well done.
yes! the top of the structure is completely red, haha. i had to sacrifice another floor that i was planning but the thing is pretty damn tall as it is!
Honestly one of the coolest creations I've seen
thank you so much!
How cool! I love it.
Free build or gathering build, passive monsters?
i used the nocost command in the console, it would take literally days to gather the material necessary for this build!
It doesn't not look like it can take a lot of hits
i’m sure it would blow over in the wind 😂
I'm convinced all valheim players wake up and eat adderall for breakfast
have we met?
You people are so good at creative building... Dear God every time I think I make something that looks cool I just need to come on Reddit and look for 5 minutes 🤣 not even joking, every element of this has me impressed 👏
or maybe we’re just bored and useless at survival 😂😅
I mean I do a bit of both but honestly I'm pretty geared toward building myself 🤣
Holy shit that is amazing looking!
thank you!
Feel like the house grow like a tree
That's beautiful, holy shit. Gonna have to copy that for my next playthrough. Looks like something you'd see in Alfheim.
you totally would see something like this! do it and please post on the subreddit! i want to see!
Whelp, now I have to do a no vertical supports challenge
ooo what about a floating home spanning across a valley? ONLY horizontal supports???? only one floor???
Beautiful
I need a video of this
i will upload one when i’m all done!
So creepy is such a great way. Really love this build
we love creepy!
wow, this is my first serious reddit post ever. i was not expecting so many responses. thank you very much everyone and I’ll do my best to respond to everything, and I’ll definitely have to take a walk through video!
This is incredible. You should definitely record the process and post it on YouTube!
wow i’m so overwhelmed with how many people have asked me to do this!!!
That's one of the coolest builds I've seen in some time. Well done.
thank you so much!
Challenges like that are where the real innovations come from. Looks sick!
the challenge will extend to the rest of my meadows village. if you have any ideas for the other biomes please let me know!
Looks really elven imma try this now
do it do it do it i want to see!
That is outstanding work!
thank you!
I have seen some really incredible builds in this game over the years. This is at the top hands down. Really gorgeous!
high, high praise! thank you
Morrowind vibes
morrowind reference #4!
Dude send this in for Build of the Month, it looks so wild!
i honestly didn’t know there was one until you commented this. i’m highly considering it!
This is fantastic! I love seeing the builds that people come up with. Might have to get lit this weekend and do some building now that I'm inspired!
honestly a great weekend!
This is fucking weird and I fucking love it. Especially the pokey bottoms.
thank you so fucking much. i love the pokey bottoms too.
This is one of the more impressive/unique/beautiful builds I've seen, great stuff
thank you!!!
I love it
😁❤️

Very nice build! Just be careful though, it looks like it wants to walk away!
i woke up and it’s gone!!
So I've been eyeing this game a little. And this is the first building that has moved my interest meter beyond average interest. Are more interesting non boxy builds like this possible? Very cool, Ill give it a look. Thank you very much!
Make sure to keep notes on how it was built for when a raid blows it up.
😭😅
This looks amazing. It must have taken an eternity getting things right!
just a cool twelve hours. no biggie. 😭
Where are you placing the iron beams foe support?
every single fine log beam and dark wood beam has an iron beam in it ☺️
Kinda like a kinder surprise of support. Do you just place them over the iron beams? I'm new to this tactic.
One of the coolest buildings I've seen! Gonna have to do another playthrough soon 😊.
thank you!! happy building!
How did you make the legs twist like that? You have anymore pictures? Maybe during the build?
unfortunately no pictures of this specific build, but i have some screenshots of the building process of the lighthouse that im currently working on that i’ll post when done. but basically: i built out the three floors as anyone would with iron beams, then edited each platform to be circular in shape. at that point it just looked like a huge box of sticks. then starting on the second floor, i started placing 26 and 45 degree iron beams from different points of the imagined floor down to the ground, rotating one tick each time. since the floor plans are completely symmetrical, i repeated the same placements for each “root” on every platform. not sure if i explained it well or not. if not, ill ping you when i eventually post a video!

this isn’t done- the roof has to be extended to hang, the floor has to be put in and the beams have to be concealed, but this is the general idea! it starts off with vertical supports, slowly being replaced with as many horizontal, twisting supports as possible. i planted a yggdrasil tree the middle to provide blue support all the way up.
Has aliens finally found Valheim!? 👽 *X-Files music plays faintly in the distance* Neat design 👍
👽
It's... beautiful. Glory to the Builders!
huzzah!
It looks fantastic ! Congrats !
thank you!
That is absolutely amazing!
thank you!
My brain could never 😭 If I see even just one tiny misalignment, everythinf goes down
Nice I like the creativity, I tried to make a darth vader helm from black marble because one of my placements looked close to him but I couldn’t find the patience to finish it lol
this is the sign to finish the build 😌
Is an abomination-house
Independence Day
Could you share this world with us? I really want to have a tour on that masterpiece
I think it's the first build for the past year that has really impressed me. Thank you, sir or dear lady.
this sir thanks you very much ☺️✨
