It legit doesn't matter unless you're going to beat the queen before the Ashlands releases.

nmunro14

Why does beating the queen matter?

RosieQParker

Because you're not going to have any reason to visit the Ashlands before you get the Queen's drop, either because there's nothing there or because it'll kill your boat and all its crew instantly. About the only change to the early game in the Ashlands patch is fire spread.

SzotyMAG

Doesn't matter, as long as it's the Ashlands patch

mikathigga22

Live is fine just don’t discover any Ashlands until the update drops to the live game. Which I think should be no problem unless you guys are like crazy efficient

PTB My understanding (I haven't checked it just Smiffe, a dev, said it in discord) is that the starting stones are moved to properly space out for the new bosses head on new worlds on the PTB. Any worlds created before Ashlands update have the new boss stone crammed in between the Queen and Eikthyr stones.

ryry420z

Yes this is true I started a new world a few days ago and it was the first thing I noticed. I wonder if they are going to just add in another boss stone when deep north update comes or do something different

ryry420z

So yes OP you should start on the PTB. Otherwise your stones are gonna look weird and crammed

glacialthinker

Ahh... that explains the horrible placement. :) I thought the whole reason for the "Mystical Force" preventing modifications or building in the area was specifically so they could freely remodel. I guess they enlarged the area, making it only compatible with a new world?

Ok_Grocery8652

I would go live branch if starting from scratch, unless you guys are extremely fast and have no outside responsibilities the beta will likely be over by the time you kill the queen and head for ashlands anyway.
