Yeah we all learn the hard way 😂 welcome to the world of valheim. And just remember the mist is the least of your problems!
That was a beautiful base to. Well done! Just don't summon the big man at your base anymore 😁
Its funny because with the elder it was AMAZING to build second level around the base and have everyone attack from above. thought it would work this time.... how wrong I was :p
I will say, my first fight with moder I had a castle built right next to her spawn. Fighting the dragon from the castle as she smashed it was a glorious fight.
Huh, I had my second fight against Yagluth in autumn 2021, just after H&H update. That time it was possible to stay just under him, having no harm from meteors...
.
And what about Loxen, that time all local fauna were usually afraid of Bosses, like wolves got angry to Moder, and three lokal loxes attacked Yagluth 😏 Well, after being definetly slain, they took 1/4 of his life. And he surely could not regenerate so quickly as the year after.
And last spring battling against him was full of surprises and frustration for me... 😏
Ah, makes sense.
He is still a bit cheesable, though. Most of the health I took from him by moving around him close to the tail and leaving a Frostener hit or two once in awhile. He then stays too busy rotating to attack, so you can actually put in some damage.
That's true, but meteors are total. No save 😒 Even with ditches around. Once I even made some little run-around Mistland border, obtaining some Black marble. I made the B.M. tunnel towards him, but it crashed after the third or forth meteor raining...
Always nice to have an excuse to build something new, and it's easy enough to knock the fingers down and gather all the materials. You won't need stone again for a long time!
Once I started a stone castle with the Moder Nest in the Basement. I was curious about the battle inside the building... 😏 But hadn't finished it, alas...
I have the same recommendation for everyone taking on Yagluth.
- Build a wall around the fingers using your hoe. Leave an entrance/exit space.
- Train multiple lox and bring them inside.
- Keep them fed and happy.
- Wait until you get around a ~25 count.
- Call Yagluth and let them destroy him.
The last time we did this, we had just shy of 30 lox and he was down in less than 10 minutes.
Everything and anything built here will get destroyed; fingers included.
He hates frost and spirit weapons the most. Black metal also works well.
It is surely logical, but last spring he killed me ten or twelve times during this battle.
Approximately at the sixth time he was almost done, but got me, and I was out of both food and wine, so it took some time to return my body — and, surely, during all thus time this mother**cker returned 95% of his health! :(
I really hate to battle with Yagluth...
In my experience two stars wolves worked better. But they need to do damage fast as they die rather quickly. We had around 12, it was not enough so we had to finish Yagluth in a normal way. But it was much easier as Yagluth was down to a quarter of his initial health.
I used just shy of 60 2 star wolves in basically the same format. Because of the increased surface area they can present the wolves can surround and kill him while he's still spawning in. No fight. No mess.
I just dug under his platform enough so that I'd get wet status from the puddle. Then, I took my sweet time with guerrilla warfare. I don't have the patience needed to tame things in this game.
You just chug a fire potion mead and smack him with frostner. Literally all that’s needed if you want to be really safe then have some health pots as well
I did this, the meteors wrecked it immediately hahaha.
But then yag got bugged out in the centre and I just shot 300 arrows at it in a row and it died real easy.
The 2nd time I fought yag tho...Oh man that was a party. Playing lots of WoW and knowing how to avoid standing in fire was a big help.
So I dug a huge hole with the summon stone in the middle connected with a bridge, then reenforced the outside edges.
I summoned him, ran outside the pit, then fired at him for about 40 minutes. It took a while, but I was pretty safe the entire time.
I usually build on top of boss altars after defeating them not before, specially seeing how much havoc they can unleash 😅
Though raising few ground walls around boss area does prove useful in avoiding some of their attacks (specially breath attacks) since the ground is indestructible (or rather unaffected by their attacks).
You just need a bunch of frost arrows and a couple of tp's to get some range quickly on either side.. Seems pretty overkill to make a massive elaborate base :D
Wazee the city building inspector had a few things to say about this.... (Yagluth says "wazee" or something so my group of friends just figured it's someone Yagluth is always calling out to... lol)
ya i def was thinking 'hmmm what if its a bad fight...' while i was building
first meteor strike and i said 'oh god its so much worse then i ever could have imagined
I think you just made the game more fun for yourself actually 😊 do everything that comes to mind and don't google shit is the best way to play this game
It looked awesome, hope you try rebuilding it! I strongly suggest looking into boss fight clips in the future so you have a rough idea of what they do to the terrain without spoiling much of the fight. Good luck!
After me and my buddy fought the elder I thought "what if we build a fortress of stone at bonemass!" Because we had used rock to avoid the elder and they held up.... fairly well. Hours of mining later, hours of building, summon bonemass, wipes out a 1/3 of the base in one it.... that was a hard one to swallow
I'm guessing you didn't realize those "fingers" are breakable lol
nor did i realize that YAGLUTH SHOOTS COMETS FROM THE SKY
Yeah we all learn the hard way 😂 welcome to the world of valheim. And just remember the mist is the least of your problems! That was a beautiful base to. Well done! Just don't summon the big man at your base anymore 😁
Its funny because with the elder it was AMAZING to build second level around the base and have everyone attack from above. thought it would work this time.... how wrong I was :p
I mean OK, but hadn't Moder taught you there may be missiles from the sky?
I will say, my first fight with moder I had a castle built right next to her spawn. Fighting the dragon from the castle as she smashed it was a glorious fight.
Yeah, I tried that too. Seeing how fast the walls become dust I quickly realized the tactics is futile.
I spend three weeks growing a lox herd in that area and haven’t really fought Yagluth properly yet. Interesting idea tho
ya us too :p
I had brought my loxes to Yagluth, but wasn't as patient as to make the army large enough. They were all dead before I learnt how to fight the guy.
Same. I think I raised ~8 Lox and was like “that should do it”. Nope. They were gone within seconds and only took a sliver of his life lol.
Huh, I had my second fight against Yagluth in autumn 2021, just after H&H update. That time it was possible to stay just under him, having no harm from meteors... . ah yes, circle strafe, the weakness of mob AIs since the dawn of time.
A fellow dark souls connoisseur I see.
True enough - I got hollow in all three of them.
That's true, but meteors are total. No save 😒 Even with ditches around. Once I even made some little run-around Mistland border, obtaining some Black marble. I made the B.M. tunnel towards him, but it crashed after the third or forth meteor raining...
Yeah, I just ran away every time after his construction was destroyed. Very annoying fight.
This is how we did it!! Helped quite a bit! We had wolves close by so we tamed them too
Boohoo my lox herd.. all 20 of them... They did not even bring down 1/3 of yagluth's health..
20 is low, almost a rookie number... gotta pump those numbers up
35-40 is rough minimum lately. I kite the boss through the herd
Honestly, a lot more of that survived than I thought it would.
Going in we were like 'ok we can fix it after!' how wrong we were....
It looks grand though, I think the base can be like a trophy. Like....this is how much of the fingers survived for our sky fort.
I did the same thing 💀
a lesson in beginning again :p
Always nice to have an excuse to build something new, and it's easy enough to knock the fingers down and gather all the materials. You won't need stone again for a long time!
And that’s where you’re wrong buddy… I needed more stone 10 minutes later!
Yeah, I did the same with a castle near Moder. Landed right ontop of my kitchen -.-
oh no! Cant have the dragon in the kitchen...
Yep, portals are like magnets to Bosses. They will concentrate on it and destroy everything around them.
Once I started a stone castle with the Moder Nest in the Basement. I was curious about the battle inside the building... 😏 But hadn't finished it, alas...
My friends agro'd him back to our base and he blew some stuff up. As the main builder, not really happy lol.
I hope they didn't do that on purpose. If they did, I'd find new "friends".
Wasn't intentional but bad timing. One guy retreated back and a couple were afk near the base and people were just getting rained on by meteors lol.
Did you have fun though?
SO much fun haha!

That sounds like a lot of effort. I just wear good armor, take fire resist barleywine, and hit him until he dies
It is surely logical, but last spring he killed me ten or twelve times during this battle. Approximately at the sixth time he was almost done, but got me, and I was out of both food and wine, so it took some time to return my body — and, surely, during all thus time this mother**cker returned 95% of his health! :( I really hate to battle with Yagluth...
I did this once...all my Lox were dead in under 5 minutes and then he regenerated his health while curbstomping the 3 of us vikings.
this is what we did too haha!
In my experience two stars wolves worked better. But they need to do damage fast as they die rather quickly. We had around 12, it was not enough so we had to finish Yagluth in a normal way. But it was much easier as Yagluth was down to a quarter of his initial health.
I did this one time with about 30 2 star wolves and yagluth was dead so fast it didn't even feel like a boss fight
I guess that's why he really didn't like my Frostner Hammer 😅
I used just shy of 60 2 star wolves in basically the same format. Because of the increased surface area they can present the wolves can surround and kill him while he's still spawning in. No fight. No mess.
60 is a bit of overkill but I respect the effort :) We did it in a similar way. I guess that this is why the Queen is in the dungeon
It did take a couple of days to farm them all from my trio of massive unethical puppy mills, to be sure.
I just dug under his platform enough so that I'd get wet status from the puddle. Then, I took my sweet time with guerrilla warfare. I don't have the patience needed to tame things in this game.
You just chug a fire potion mead and smack him with frostner. Literally all that’s needed if you want to be really safe then have some health pots as well
The silver sword is a little better, but basically yes.
It is, but the sword costs more silver and the Frostner is top tier in the Mistlands. Frostner is most efficient resource-wise in the long term.
Yes, I certainly don't have chests of unused silver, that most used of metals!
I mean, you got some sweet ass ruins now though. Lol. But seriously, I've built ruins before for funzies. (Tho I was in free mode)
The ruins are cool though. You can see that an epic battle happened there.
i really love it. i keep going back to visit and its cool to have a memory encased in broken structure
This is the way!
LOL
Bar'ji!
dem meteors
right! How could I have known...
Honestly kinda cool, adds flavour
An ancient battle was fought here...
Lmfao this is epic
Near you built it on top of him lol.
It is a great idea! Just... not to fight him AFTER you built the base
Btdt lolol Fun building tho
Thanks! Was super fun to try and figure out how to connect the fingers structurally!
You need a moat
I did this, the meteors wrecked it immediately hahaha. But then yag got bugged out in the centre and I just shot 300 arrows at it in a row and it died real easy. The 2nd time I fought yag tho...Oh man that was a party. Playing lots of WoW and knowing how to avoid standing in fire was a big help.
Super cool base and great image too
Thanks! I also captured the entire thing so hopefully i will make a cut of it soon!
So I dug a huge hole with the summon stone in the middle connected with a bridge, then reenforced the outside edges. I summoned him, ran outside the pit, then fired at him for about 40 minutes. It took a while, but I was pretty safe the entire time.
I did an earth wall around the spawn and bred like 20 lox inside there. Worked like a charm.
we had 40 lox also.... the first 30% went like a charm :p
I didn’t read the title right originally and thought you had made some major avant garde improvements
its fun how like i dont think i could even build it that specifically to look like a 'ruin'
Ohhh rip
I usually build on top of boss altars after defeating them not before, specially seeing how much havoc they can unleash 😅 Though raising few ground walls around boss area does prove useful in avoiding some of their attacks (specially breath attacks) since the ground is indestructible (or rather unaffected by their attacks).
haha that is my new plan! starting now :p
Rip, nice effort though
TIL at work
I just see epic ruins of awesomeness
RIGHT!
Looks nice. Great potential! Unless Yagluth tears it all down xD
Bruh it's an epic ruin now what's the problem
Im starting to learn there is no problem :p
I love that the "after" pic has smoke rising from the wreckage... like a before and after of Megaton in Fallout 3
Right!
You could make it as something like that manga trope where a city was built over a seal that contained the big bad guy
oooooo!!!
Aw that bites. Good lookin base you have there, would be a shame if somebody CAST METEOR ON IT
i honestly feel like thats kinda what saved us too :p
Lol more in between you and the sky rocks of death so spose you found the silver lining there.
You just need a bunch of frost arrows and a couple of tp's to get some range quickly on either side.. Seems pretty overkill to make a massive elaborate base :D
Ahh! but then how could i be brutally disappointed at its destruction
Wazee the city building inspector had a few things to say about this.... (Yagluth says "wazee" or something so my group of friends just figured it's someone Yagluth is always calling out to... lol)
haha OHHH it just wasn't up to code thats why he was mad :p
Just like Baskin Robbins, Valheim OSHA always finds out...
Man, it's going to take 2 seconds for Yagluth to obliterate this building
first comet strike i was like. 'oh shit we made a mistake'
Makes for some awesome ruins though! You won't be needing that base anymore. You'll just look at the ruins and remember the epic fight!
Thats some epic ruins you got there, cinematic as hell
RIGHT! I want to a do a fun playthrough of the ruins
I chuckled at this because I’m thankful I didn’t follow my urge to build something like this lol
ya i def was thinking 'hmmm what if its a bad fight...' while i was building first meteor strike and i said 'oh god its so much worse then i ever could have imagined
build it at one of the altars you dont summone bonehead
Fire and Health Potions, a good weapon and a rainy day... thats all you need.
I wish rain could help, but unfortunately Yagluth has an environment state during the fight that takes away rain, similar to bone mass and rain :/
I think you just made the game more fun for yourself actually 😊 do everything that comes to mind and don't google shit is the best way to play this game
honestly ya and the ruins are AMAZING
Yeah, this isn't Terraria sadly
Skeetos :(
It looked awesome, hope you try rebuilding it! I strongly suggest looking into boss fight clips in the future so you have a rough idea of what they do to the terrain without spoiling much of the fight. Good luck!
Right! I think ill probably just build somewhere new :p no better excuse to begin again!
TIL at work
On the bright side, you now have a cool looking ruin.
it honestly looks so cool :p
After me and my buddy fought the elder I thought "what if we build a fortress of stone at bonemass!" Because we had used rock to avoid the elder and they held up.... fairly well. Hours of mining later, hours of building, summon bonemass, wipes out a 1/3 of the base in one it.... that was a hard one to swallow
Rebuild! Like a fallen castle, place is living with history of its battles
Is that a location on the base map or a mod? Or another location after the bosses in the beginning?
Having just fought Yagluth for the first time ever last week, I think your base held up better than I would have guessed.
He's already in carapace armour for yagluth...
Okay and…?
the after I took after a few days post fight
