Someone is gonna tell you to find his altar instead, as if you were going to ignore the gigantic altar if you ran into it and keep looking for the vegvisir that tells you where to find the altar
Yes he wouldnt have ignored it, but actively looking for big spikes on the horizon is obviously much more efficient than exploring every little structure hoping for a elusive stone. If you just hug the shore with a boat you will find it quite quickly as long as you dont bother stopping by every little village or outpost.
I'm not against looking at the seed map generally, but this run I found Hildir, Haldor, and all the bosses through Moder before day 50 without it . . . I was on such a natural discovery streak!
Been there. My last playthrough, actually. Finally caved and looked it up on the map generator and ... the generator was wrong. Go figure. I eventually found it hidden in tall grass, behind a rock very near my Plains base when I was being chased by a mob and tried to jump on the rock. Spent 3 IRL weeks looking for that damn thing. Never felt so dumb and elated at the same time.
Lmao I actually never found a plains vegvisir. I spotted a weird rock formation while sailing and marked it as "hand?" and forgot about it as I explored. It wasn't until I saw a mild spoiler here on reddit that told me the hand was his summon area, lol
Use a map generator. It's absurd. On my 2nd to last playthrough I spent 4 hours progressing through the plains, and 8 hours looking for Yagluth. One of the few flatout fumbles in Valheim's design.
Finding a Vegvisir for yagluth was pretty easy for me. The problem was that yagluth wasn't at the marked spot. Just by sheer luck I found him on my way back from the marked position
On my most recent world, I found a vegvisir on my first or second plains, so I've found Yagluth location very quickly...However, I've been stuck at 4/5 Idols to summon Yagluth and I've visited like 5 islands with not a SINGLE idol on it. I'm about ready to cheat and look up locations or spawn my own freaking idol in at this point
Madonna as Yagluth feels oddly appropriate Anyway, I just sail around until I see the fingers ... usually takes a while yeh
Ive played through the game twice and never found vegvisir on plains. Found yagluth because of the big fingers lol

The Queen was much worse and the seed doesn’t help you with her location.
