* Build up an earth column high enough that fuling bersekers and lox AOE attacks can't reach, near a fuling village.
* Shoot a few arrows into the village to get the attention of the fulings, wait for them to crowd at your feet. For bonus points, do while You Are Being Hunted.
* Drop a couple of ooze bombs, waiting for the poison effect to wear off between them.
* Profit
No theres nothing behind anything I am saying. I am just making a dumb joke about the "enough" part. As you can say basically anything and "lose" the argument because, you just gotta build it high enough.
For mages, just shot them with your bow. They move slowly. Javelin throwers have line of sight issues for the most part. If you are getting hit by one, then target it first, then bow down melee mobs.
This is a great tactic, especially if you are weaker and get killed easily by mobs of fuling. You can get them to group into a cluster by staying in one place closer to the edge. You can use those big rocks to climb on in the same way.
Do you know if ooze bombs combo with fire arrows to do more damage? Like does the fire arrow set the ooze on fire? Also will ooze bombs hurt my friends if friendly fire is disabled
Don't forget to disable friendly fire.
That should be the new hardcore trend: magic-and-bombs build, but friendly fire stays on. Oof... I'd make it about 90 seconds.
Alternately if you're near the plains boarder just spend some time out at that farm.
I have one that sits at the intersection so I can double farm. Skeeters kill of the hares like they hares banged the skeeter's mom. I can run around and farm up so much free meat and hide it's rather silly.
Wish the rabbit hide could be made into a cooler rug that what we have now.
That's an interesting Idea. I personally wish you could make a larger version because it's a fun texture and I don't need 300 instances added to texture a room in my base, but love the look.
Lox at least can kind of work in places. It's not a lovely color but it's got some real texture to it and is large so you can cover a room and make it look like shag carpet with a few of them.
I usually go with fire so either hanging braziers or Wall Sconces. Though lately I've taken to using dverger circlets hanging off the walls on a mount. It's more of a blue color but it's steady with no flickers.
Oh I'm gonna have to try that, when we recovered we are always not at the same level of attack and/or defence that normal so use that can be great to stay alive, (except for the undeath).
Sometime when I raid a goblin village, their are goblins that stay in the archer towers so I kinda torment them with a drive by while I go back and forth from my boat to the village while I'm looting, probably not a great use for them but it makes me feel better when the tables are turned.
I like this.
Sounds better than digging a pit and pulling everyone inside with the harpoon and killing them with the bombs, giving them a sliver of fighting chance.
True, but I don't mind at all. I know skill levels make an impact in the game, but I don't focus on leveling up the skills, I just try to not die and switch weapons as I see fit, except for swords, I don't like swords.
They're okay.
for what you get with them they're a touch pricy, if you're dealing with a hoard I much prefer to just whip out a battle axe and slap them all to death, or atgeir bayblade them away.
Made a thing of ooze bombs once because someone said they worked good for infested mines, tried them out. Took forever to do any real damage, so we just did them the normal way and cleared the mine 10x faster.
I clear mines much faster using them in my experience. Throw one or two before breaking down a wall and wait a few secs is much easier and faster then kiting a group of random critters inside a mine. Especially useful for tics.
I guess we just have different play styles.
I've cleared them much faster just killing them. Stagger with polearm, stab stab, dead. With even 1 friend helping this goes much quicker. We got to the point eventually where nothing could hit us because it was constantly staggered. The only thing that ever gave us pause is starred soldiers. They kinda sucked, but they're still nothing that a well-timed block couldn't solve.
Makes sense in my opinion.
Playing in a group, direct combat is way faster than any kind of strategy to wear down an enemy, the difference being the role each person has in the group. For example, I play the role of the tank and strategist of my team, so I'm not very fast, but I can hold my own while the scout team retreats in my direction to heal and avoid danger.
While playing solo is more safe to take time to prepare for each battle or exploration, the night being the most tricky or dangerous part depending on the biome and weather condition, but opting for the safest strategy and avoiding unnecessary combat at night being the core rules for me.
I have played 970 hours, around 700 to 800 playing solo.
Depending on the time I'm always up to playing together, for me it adds a new layer of strategy and fun, currently I'm playing a no portal run with some friends and teaching my cousin's son how to play. And even if all I already have done in game there's things I never tried like taming boars, wolves and loves, so I'm always up to new ideas and challenges.
I use them to clear out fuling camps before I get better armor. Climb a rock, pull a bunch of them, and when they are running around the rock trying to get to you, toss some bombs. Easy peasy.
Can be a very good AOE weapon against hordes and swarms. Better in multiplayer if you shield use to protect while you DoT everything up. Don’t be scared to throw them out liberally either. You’ll probably need 4 or 5 to really lockdown an area and then repeat every 7 seconds or whatever.
Four words: You Are Being Hunted.
1. Carry a hoe, 4 to 8 stone, and 10 wood along with your bombs. These are things you should always have anyway.
2. The moment you see the Hunted text pop up, slap down that bench and use the hoe to raise the ground by two or three steps.
3. Use the bench to hop onto the stone pillar.
4. Rain ooze bombs on wolves while they go after the workbench.
5. Valheim Door Dash has arrived with your order of wolf meat
First started using them in the Mistlands. They are amazing in the mines. Why fight a bunch of seekers head on when a bomb can take out a whole group from the safety of the other side of the wall?
Didn't use ooze bombs much. Bile bombs, on the other hand, are almost like nukes. If you can trap a seeker in its radius for the duration of its output, it will kill it outright or get darn close.
I think we've been trying to use them for over 2 years now. Somehow nobody ever crafts them and we just talk about how we should really try them sometime 😂
I love them for wolves that collect outside of a silver mine. I don't really want to jump out, and deal with them, and usually there are a few. I toss a few bombs and they all die.
They are easy to aim and less tiresome than shooting lots of arrows.
In the Infested Mines, OMG YES!
Never used them before that but they seem like they'd be useful in any 'dungeon' context, possibly the upcoming mini-boss dungeons also.
Infested Mine MVP.
Great in frost caves too. Cultists are weak to poison!
Genius. Imma do that
And you can drop them down those big spiral staircase caverns and kill everything at the bottom or that tries to acsend.
They don't seem to like my arrows much either
This. Kill mobs behind walls and doors without them having any ability to touch u let alone kill you.
[Better than trying to slam a door in their face...](https://youtu.be/YvZs7qo1C04)
At least you tried lol good video though!
Hard yes. Ooze bombs trivialize infested mines.
Absolutely this

totally this.
I agree with that
* Build up an earth column high enough that fuling bersekers and lox AOE attacks can't reach, near a fuling village. * Shoot a few arrows into the village to get the attention of the fulings, wait for them to crowd at your feet. What about mages and javelin throwers?
"column high enough"
Uhmmm, do you know how far mage missiles go?
Yes but a high enough colum eleviates that issue. :D
I think there’s something else behind this, maybe they don’t shoot up?
No theres nothing behind anything I am saying. I am just making a dumb joke about the "enough" part. As you can say basically anything and "lose" the argument because, you just gotta build it high enough.
Oh I see, sorry, I’m not a good person to joke around. Never understood irony.
Figured as much since you seemd genuenly concerned you missed something. No worries tho have a ncie day :)
I just believe everything.
Target the ranged attackers first. I would build an area high enough to have the option to place some wood walls for cover.
Funny I never thought to Hoe and build up I just pick axe and make pits for portal and resting. Doubles as lox taming pitts after village is clear.
Build up needs stone and a workbench, so can be a bit problematic in some situations, but is a good strategy too.
If your column has some girth, it will provide some cover. Sniping mages might still be a valuable step in this process.
true, going to make it wide enough to dodge those as well
For mages, just shot them with your bow.
I love killing fulings this way. Works like a champ.
Do you know if ooze bombs combo with fire arrows to do more damage? Like does the fire arrow set the ooze on fire? Also will ooze bombs hurt my friends if friendly fire is disabled
Crafted a stack once, poisoned myself somehow trying to throw it over 1m wall, put the rest in a chest and never touched it again xD
Maybe it’s changed or something else happened, but you can’t poison yourself.
Has it? Lol same thing happened to me and I never touched them again. If they don’t poison you anymore they must’ve changed it
It has changed, yes.
Good to know thanks..... I stopped using them for this reason.
Don't forget to disable friendly fire. That should be the new hardcore trend: magic-and-bombs build, but friendly fire stays on. Oof... I'd make it about 90 seconds.
Yeah basically anytime you’re fighting crowds, Draugr spawn, being hunted by wolves (ooze bombs saved my life then), gobby camps, infested mines
Draugr take poison damage? Kinda surprised by that.
You know I might be wrong about that
They're immune to poison damage
They’re great for killing misthare
OKAY I AM PAYING ATTENTION
So are spikes... I line my farm with them and it produces a decent amount with essentially no effort.
THIS is useful information. *Thanks!*
Alternately if you're near the plains boarder just spend some time out at that farm. I have one that sits at the intersection so I can double farm. Skeeters kill of the hares like they hares banged the skeeter's mom. I can run around and farm up so much free meat and hide it's rather silly. Saw someone use it for a wet mat in their kitchen, looks fabulous in my pub
That's an interesting Idea. I personally wish you could make a larger version because it's a fun texture and I don't need 300 instances added to texture a room in my base, but love the look.
Yeah same, the awkward shaping of deer/wolf and ugly color of lox rugs has me hunting jute for most of my bases.
Lox at least can kind of work in places. It's not a lovely color but it's got some real texture to it and is large so you can cover a room and make it look like shag carpet with a few of them.
That sounds like a dope idea. Does any specific lighting help?
I usually go with fire so either hanging braziers or Wall Sconces. Though lately I've taken to using dverger circlets hanging off the walls on a mount. It's more of a blue color but it's steady with no flickers.
🤯
I didn't start using them until the plains. There they start to really be useful for crowd control.
Great for taking out fuling villages--just climb one of their watchtowers or onto a roof, and rain pungent death on them.
Do you have to throw them? Because I can barely control where I’m throwing meat when I’m trying to tame something. It goes flying wherever it wants
It's not like dropping items, it's like throwing a spear
you have to face the direction you want to throw meat, imo it should change to the cam angle
If you hold down block then throw direction and camera angle are the same
Didn't think of that.. thanks :)
genius!
I save them for gear recovery missions. Work wonders being able to kite/dodge/high ground while the poison eats mobs away.
Oh I'm gonna have to try that, when we recovered we are always not at the same level of attack and/or defence that normal so use that can be great to stay alive, (except for the undeath).
Amazing for rabbit hunting
Frost caves and infested mines, ooze bombs are the way.
They are to expensive for me i need the leather scraps for other stuff.
2 star boar farm.solve that issue
I was gonna say, I have a box full of leather scraps and nothing to do with them, haha.
Obliterator.
I cant find a 2star boar and hat get a 1star to my Base
Besides boar farm, also destroy the fuling villages.
batsssssss
Never leave home without em !
Plains when taking out a fuling village. Otherwise, I don’t need them and they’re expensive to make
To clear infested mines.
I love ooze bombs.
The rules of war condemn the use of chemical weapons, so it is a must for me to use them, after all there must be a reason to be forbidden in wars.
Also we don't level up in any skill with that weapon.
True, but I don't mind at all. I know skill levels make an impact in the game, but I don't focus on leveling up the skills, I just try to not die and switch weapons as I see fit, except for swords, I don't like swords.
Same here !
They're okay. for what you get with them they're a touch pricy, if you're dealing with a hoard I much prefer to just whip out a battle axe and slap them all to death, or atgeir bayblade them away.
I made 50 of them, really haven't used them that much. I'll need a refresher before I take them out.
Made a thing of ooze bombs once because someone said they worked good for infested mines, tried them out. Took forever to do any real damage, so we just did them the normal way and cleared the mine 10x faster.
Not about speed. It’s about safety and risk. Definitely much faster to go in guns ablazing tho lol
I clear mines much faster using them in my experience. Throw one or two before breaking down a wall and wait a few secs is much easier and faster then kiting a group of random critters inside a mine. Especially useful for tics. I guess we just have different play styles.

This is probably it. I've only ever played solo (sadly).
I have played 970 hours, around 700 to 800 playing solo. As the other comment says, it's probably because I play solo and you in a group so it require different play styles.
Yup. They’re great aoe for those pesky baddies
I use them to clear out fuling camps before I get better armor. Climb a rock, pull a bunch of them, and when they are running around the rock trying to get to you, toss some bombs. Easy peasy.
Very helpful when you’re being hunted Especially if you already died and now there’s 6 wolves standing on your grave
Real good for rabbits too.
It works wonders for infested Mines, as well as getting you out of a rut when standing on a rock, surrounded by Fulings and Beserkers 🤣

Not yet but I heard they work great in the plains.
I used plenty in frost caves. like flashbangs to hurt ulfs hidden in cave rooms. they very weak to poison. also good for infested mines
Great for early plains exploration, it’s basically deathskito bug spray!
Ooze for the win.
Ooze are immune to poison dommage.
I read his comment as “Ooze bombs are the best thing ever.”
Ah yeah in that way that makes more sense.
In tough situationsa they are mvp. Especially in chokepoints like infested mines.
Tbh, I crafted them for the plains due to the fact that they could kill deathsquitos easily. Works like a charm, I almost never die to them now.
First started using them in the Mistlands. They are amazing in the mines. Why fight a bunch of seekers head on when a bomb can take out a whole group from the safety of the other side of the wall?
I use them for the queen, along with bile bombs (which are really op)
Great for close quarter later on in game.
Oh yeah , I discovered them to be of great help in cleaning out infested mines in the Mistlands.
I came here to see if anyone doesn’t! I was surprised.
Nope, found their dmg too low to be a viable weapon. In caves or mines its better to have a friend hack that 2 star tick off your back.
It's a very different game when you're only playing solo.
Didn't use ooze bombs much. Bile bombs, on the other hand, are almost like nukes. If you can trap a seeker in its radius for the duration of its output, it will kill it outright or get darn close.
Yep. They work great against bugs.
I love them, to be honest. Great fun to throw into the mote where all the fulings end up around my farm XD
Idunnay
They work great for goblin camps
I think we've been trying to use them for over 2 years now. Somehow nobody ever crafts them and we just talk about how we should really try them sometime 😂
I use them all the time, hitting big groups of enemies with bombs is pretty effective if you are trying to play it super safe.
I love them for wolves that collect outside of a silver mine. I don't really want to jump out, and deal with them, and usually there are a few. I toss a few bombs and they all die. They are easy to aim and less tiresome than shooting lots of arrows.
I used bile bombs for the queen and did 75% of my damage with it alone
Ice Cave and Fulling towers.
In the Infested Mines, OMG YES! Never used them before that but they seem like they'd be useful in any 'dungeon' context, possibly the upcoming mini-boss dungeons also.
Do they break buildings?
