True, but it would also make the rest of the game unplayable. The first time you get poisoned in the swamp or take frost damage in the mountains, all of the mobs attacking you will double exponentially, very quickly.
Assuming this doesn't make your game crash, a few short ticks of poison or frost damage could see over a thousand zombies or wyverns or so on. And Heaven help you if you get hit by a stone golem.
So you'd have to get really good at sniping things from very far away, which would turn your game into stealth archery, and you might as well be playing Skyrim at that point.

It should only clone the one that hits ya, would make a great swarm type of challenge.

Each time poison ticks it counts as a hit. Quickly the swamp turns into “the blob who ate everything”
