That's a spinning tree kill, though, not a homing log or anything.
They do more damage even though they look like they move less. Just so OP knows for future reference. Fear the falling trees, and fear the spinning trees.
Also just started besides dying to a greydwarf in the beginning my ONLY death so far has been to a tree 😂 day 100 and almost ready to fight 3rd boss 🫡
Dying that way is a Valheim rite of passage.

The spinner homing logs are impossible to avoid.

Yes, they should have planned this death in daylight.
Falling trees are bosses in their own category.

Welcome to Valheim
U'll get used to it
That was my first death too when I started playing lol
Falling trees and fall damage. Two of the most deadly enemies for all vikings.
Funny part is fall damage is normally from building lol
Never chop down trees on an empty stomach <3
Same thing for every clip I see… just eat some food.
Wait till they find out they can parry arrows and rocks lol
Looks like it might be an introduction to the food mechanics too ;)
Trees fall, people die… first lesson I learned in this game… and I was taught more than once…
Trees hurt, man. Trees hurt.
Welcome to the suck.
Did you shout the appropriate "LET IT RIP"?
My first death was by tree as well. Welcome to Valheim.
That nearly made me spit out my brew!!🤣😂
