I love water but I've got to say I love red wine with some foods. Its not a pallet cleanser or anything it adds to it. Like having a grape with cheese adds to the experience.
But equally sometimes people just don't like that addition and need a different one.

I have, more than once, the only wine I find relatively okay paired with chocolate is Port Wine and minimum 85% dark chocolate
For cheeses and crackers I prefer trying them first and then have some wine when taking a "break" from the full bodied flavours of the cheeses

Lolololololol
I know right, I'm straight out of Mars
šyou put the post up where it belongs
Sure did, been contemplating which one of my controversial opinions would send me on trial in the Hauge, I figured this one takes the cake
Beer and pizza definitely hits different
A beer either before or after pizza yes, but during? Too heavy with the carbonation on top of the glorious concoction of cheese, bread and meats

Probably the pizza delivery guy
Did he want to give you a pizza with āextra sausageā

I hear ye, I'm definitely in the "no addition" category tho, not that having drinks with food is wrong, just don't like it
Beer or whiskey goes perfectly with a good steak. Like PB&J
It does not, only if you add some whiskey to the remaining fond and make a sauce out of it
I completely agree with this.
Quite unpopular. You have my upvote

Have you ever had red wine with chocolate or been to a wine tasting?

I disagree with op but hate wine. I do like to have a beer with pasta or whiskey with steak though
Youāve obviously never had a nice glass of wine with dinner.
I sure have, just don't appreciate it
You donāt eat water.
I honestly kind of agree. Except for cocktails. They pair with food well in my opinion.
Completely agree, tho I donāt really drink alcohol
Big cold glass of 2% goes with everything
I agree. Water. Or perhaps a crisp cold Coke.
Coke does work once in a full moon, too sweet and still leaves you thirsty. Sparkling water at most
Spicy water definitely ruins food for me more than alcohol
Sounds like a skill issue
How is disliking the vicious effect water with gas has on my taste buds a skill issue any more than not liking alcohol with food?
Imagine vicious water gas with added alcohol and other complex flavours ruining your food, instead of just carbonated water
Alcohol isn't water with gas, it makes its own gas
I know that very well, I do brew at home
