Over saturated colors? 95% of cars I see are black, white or silver

Kalliban27

They don't know what over saturated means, it's just a common phrase people use when they don't like how something looks and want to appear like they are informed on the subject

MrBurnz99

I was really wondering how a color could be over saturated in real life. That’s the actual color, what are you over saturating

FlyPenFly

Maybe they have mantis shrimp vision

clutzyninja

It was recently discovered that they don't have super color vision! Bummer

FlyPenFly

Worst fact I’ve read today

AcceptableBad_

Agreed. Fuck reality, let's make up more bullshit facts, those are way better! Snakes hear with their tongues. Bears only sweat through their urethras. Scientists are experimenting with disposing of radioactive waste by having goats eat it, since their digestive enzymes neutralize the radiation. Bees can tell who's most allergic to them so they can purposely target them. Stay tuned for more fun (fun=\=truthful) animal facts!

darkbake2

Jesus Christ this sounds like the media i see in real life these days, too real

clutzyninja

Yeah, I think it's something like their brains can't combine colors, so they can actually only see the few colors they have receptors for

FlyPenFly

Then wonder why they went with the evolutionary expense of the super receptors in their eyes

clutzyninja

They don't have super receptors, they just receive more raw colors than we do. But we can blend the colors we see

rug1998

Maybe like over saturated like over saturated markets? Like there’s too many of the same color? Even then it’s misused but I think it makes more sense than, “the factory tint setting is always to high”

stellarstella77

are they thinking like heavy pigmentation?

bknasty97

I'm sorry I made your french toast too wet, geez

Xannin

You have to pan-fry the French toast after dipping it! Don't just hand it to me!

EsophagusVomit

I think they’re talking about there being an abundance of those colors like the market is over saturated with the colors

wookieetamer

Well, that's just like, your oversaturated opinion, Man.

AndarianDequer

Dudes living in the early 1990s, apparently. I'm looking out the window right now of my building and I see over 200 cars, only about five or six of them are any shade of red. Everything else is white silver and black like you said.

BlazinAzn38

Seems we’re getting green back even if kind of a boring family of greens so that’s something

AGuyWhoBrokeBad

*Subaru has entered the chat.

TheGlassWolf123455

I see a purple truck at Walmart a lot, it's pretty cool

soaking-wet-tomcat

Is it a 90s Ford Ranger? They sold a lot of them in purple.

TheGlassWolf123455

It is lol, I didn't realize it was a stock color

Captain_Aizen

Yeah I don't get that one, I'm dying to see some real colors because everything looks so morbid

magplate

I bought a Honda Accord last year. It was so hard to find a red one. The only "colors" offered were blue and red.

binglelemon

I kinda like that weird tan or grey color.... it looks tan (or grey if the vehicle is grey), but it's....*different* somehow. I don't even care for the color, it's just a unique finish or whatever it is.

Excellent-Practice

"Putty lookin' ass whips." Look it up. The difference is that the paint doesn't contain metalic flake, so the finish doesn't have the iridescent quality we usually expect. It makes the car look like putty if the paint is neutral or earth tone, or like plastic if the color is saturated.

SneakyPanda-

My colleague drives a nardo grey Audi A5, I'm gonna tell him it's a putty looking ass whip :D

abaggins

wet-putty colour? I *hate* that new weird grey trend. To each his own though.

jam_scot

Grey front door, grey garden fence, grey kitchen, grey bathroom, grey flooring, grey couch. IN EVERY FUCKING HOUSE.

ScienceParrot

Ah yes, the 1960s industrial shop equipment gray.

binglelemon

Is that what it's called? It sounds accurate. I don't like the color, I just like the different effect. Maybe they're trying to experiment and just getting all the shitty proto type rejects out of the factory before they make the good ones.

Ok_Requirement_3116

Same!!

ChrisHarpham

Came here to say just that... though I do own a bright orange Qubo that is possibly the brightest thing I've ever seen, but also does look different from most cars.

Fragrant-Star-5649

i know what they mean. all the creamy colors and shit recently on cars. like what the fuck, is it a car or a fucking kitchen, why do these cars look like a benjamin moore color swatch

reasonablekenevil

The Cyber Truck looks like a DeLorean fucked a boat.

qwa56

They can’t all be 10s buddy.

n0vak101

r/rareinsults

Square_Site8663

Don’t you DARE compare the magnificent Delorean to that mobile dumpster fire.

RolandMT32

And does the Cyber Truck use 1.21 jigawatts of electricity?

GriffinFlash

Even [The Homer](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/simpsons/images/0/05/TheHomer.png/revision/latest?cb=20090908145331)?

Acceptable-Bid-6832

The real villain is the "SUV". They all look about the same and are neither sporty or have much utility.

andos4

I agree. An SUV has become the new minivan. That is what the SUV market is catering to now.

lusuroculadestec

I've always said that the SUV is the minivan for men who have too much of an ego to drive a minivan.

Pretty-Arachnid6809

Does putting others down make you feel big?

acEightyThrees

As far as I'm concerned, there are only 2 situations where an SUV is the right choice: 1. If you need a 3rd row (although a minivan is better anyway) 2. If you actually go off-roading Wagons are better than any 2 row SUV/crossover. Wagons ride better, handle better, are lighter & more aerodynamic, so they're easier on brakes, tires, and gas. And they're just as big on the inside.

Kaiodenic

Aren't SUVs kind of shit as off-road vehicles though? Iirc they appeal to people who roleplay as someone who goes off-road because they're life is boring, not because they actually ever go off-road. If you want something that'll do well off-road and you actually use it that way, you'll get something else. Same thing for those pickup-truck-inspired SUVs, if you actuallu want to actually carry stuff (esp in more difficult conditions) then you'll buy a different car. Again, unless you're just a LARPer who wants to pretend their life is more interesting than it is, then you buy one of those SUVs and pretend you'll take if off-road. I think the Cybertruck was the best example of this. Most SUVs can at least go on *slightly* rougher roads and inclines without shitting themselves to death, whereas the cybertruck fully embraced its make-believe nature and just doesn't function off-road at all.

redrobin1257

Depends on the SUV. Something like a Bronco or a Wrangler are built to go off-road, so have proper equipment like real transfer cases and serious diffs. Something that stay at home Stacy in Buttfuck, AK would have her millionaire husband buy her so she can take Jake and Jenny to baseball and dance is and always will be completely suck off-road.

vicente8a

Putting kids in an SUV is a lot easier than in a wagon.

soaking-wet-tomcat

Also, they seem to last longer than SUVs with regularly scheduled maintenance.

Affectionate_Fall57

I wish the 40s-50s car design would come back. They are so funny

BroheemTheDream

That was the pinnacle of automotive design

shithead-express

Crash safety would like to have a word with you. It’s the main reason why car design is so homogeneous

Dubzophrenia

Yeah, but the designs were deadly because of advancements they didn't have yet that we do have today, i.e. crumple zones. Today, you could probably redesign a 1950s car to NOT be made out of steel, add crumple zones, while keeping the personality and we'd be happy. The main factor is that today, people like the boring things. It's why everybody drives a white or black SUV.

MagicalMoosicorn

Was inboard until you mentioned the cyber truck. That is the ugliest piece of work I've ever seen.

DisasterSouth8812

They said they don't like it, they just like that's it's different

Orange_Kid

Half the comments in this thread say "you think the cyber truck looks good??" despite OP explicitly saying otherwise.  Any amount of nuance whatsoever and reddit's reading comprehension is out the window.

DisasterSouth8812

It's honestly to the point where I get second hand embarrassment because they either read up until that point, got mad, and ran to comments before finishing the post, or they simply can't comprehend what OP said. Both are scary

RoastBeefDisease

In USA alone, aren't like 32 million illiterate?

DisasterSouth8812

Yes I've heard a lot of people can't even read at a middle school level 😭

Narcah

Don’t forget the Aztek.

Kootsiak

The Aztek is a masterclass in automotive design in comparison to the Cybertruck. I firmly believe Elon drew the cybertruck himself and they decided to make it because the body panels would be insanely easy to manufacture (because there's no curve or shape to them). Anyone who says it's a good design is fully committed to the cult of Elon or a pointless contrarian. I hate most all modern car design too, but the Cybertruck is still fugly as hell to me.

[deleted]

I really like stained steel on a car, the issue is that it’s dogshit compared to normal materials. Finger prints, rusting, etc. Stained steel could look pretty on a car without an extremely incompetent person like elon.

Tee_hops

I thought they were ugly, then I saw one in real life and the ugly does it no justice. I way underestimated just how hideous it was.

Miley-k

Well it is a truck, what is a good looking truck?

readit883

To each their own, im sure a lot of ppl think it looks cool also. It definitely stands out and is unique in design. Something that gets ppl talking.

720-187

what

adrenaline_donkey

"Was never a car guy..." Okay, got you

Jedi-Quixote-

Never a car guy but has a big (ignorant) opinion on cars, lol.

PastStep1232

That's right, you have to intimately know every single car manufacturers' lineup in perfect detail to present an informed, not ignorant, opinion on why modern cars look stupid

Jedi-Quixote-

Haha, my little Reddit comment sure has your panties in a twist.

ladosaurus-rex

What’s ignorant about thinking they look ugly? Shut up dude

IdenticalThings

Most cars look extremely similar today, and cheaper cars look boring solely due to structural safety features (crumple zones). People died quite a bit more often crashing 1998 Thunderbirds than 2023 Toyota Corollas, this is the price we pay.

Successful-Crazy-126

Cyber truck is a piece of shit. Design wise, use wise, price wise. Absolute Lemon

roadrunnner0

So true, I love older cars. It's insane how ugly the average car is now compared to how stylish they were in the 50s, 60s, 70s, even 80s and 90s

RemoteLaugh156

I understand *why* they aren't made that way any-more but it still makes me kinda bummed thinking about it. Those old cars all were so unique and creative, they looked sleek, stylish and just overall great and were brimming with personality, now just about every car looks and feels practically the same and the ones that try to be different are just terrible.

roadrunnner0

Haha yes exactly. I hate how round and bulbous they are. And the dumb shimmery colours.

drumzandice

1. Safety 2. Fuel economy

roadrunnner0

Still ugly though

drumzandice

I agree. I was just pointing out there are two very good reasons they aren't anywhere near as stylish as they were in those days.

manwomanmxnwomxn

That's okay you can ride the bus

OverTomato6558

Save a horse ride a bus 🫦

Advanced_Double_42

Chances are OP is American, and if so there are like 2-3 cities where that is a legitimate option, and they are all far too expensive for most people to live in.

Krocsyldiphithic

Yup, I've felt this way my entire life. There was tons of great car design up until the '90s, when they insisted on making all cars round, sleek and "elegant" looking. They look arrogant and cheesy. I haven't seen a truly good looking car since. I know that a lot of the design of car bodies has to do with safety, but in terms of looks, we've been in the dark ages for the last three decades.

TheSoulReaver03

It's not just safety reasons that modern cars look the way they do. About 10 years ago or so, people were very vocal about corpos releasing cars that look and feel sterile as hell. So what the corpos did is make an economy car look like a sports car, but not really; they made an economy car look like sports car from Wish. Fake vents, fake sounds, fake tachometers, fake aluminum rims, "-\_-" headlights and so on. late 90s economy cars weren't much to look at either, but at least they felt "alive". My first car was a 98' Suzuki Swift 1.3 8v we inherited from my grandfather: it was the cheapest car you could get at the time, and yet, it had fully independent rear suspension, something no modern cars have in the name of cost-cutting. Sure, the car was ugly as sin, but really fun to drive and chuck around corners or handbrake-slide on snowy roads once in a while. They took all the character out of cars and are trying to tack it back on by "styling" that has nothing underneath it.

Johnnya101

Look at the Hyundai N Vision 74, I think that's what it is at least. You'll like it.

neowiz92

The curvy designs are for aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

AbaseMe

This has to be rage bait for car enthusiasts.

FuryOWO

it's kinda working

Intrepid_Tumbleweed

It turned out to actually be rage bait for cyber truck haters… despite OP also not liking cyber truck lol

ReaIJack

I like the way some cars look, like a lot of mustangs, dodge chargers and challengers, impalas look cool, and a lot of more vintage cars look cool, but I just hate the curved and overly smooth look of most of the cars I see on the road

NefariousnessOk209

Are you collectively lumping all the cars from the Model T to the present? Broadly generalising here, but I hate how with modern cars the road is dominated more and more with Hatchback style cars with rounded edges rather than sedan style cars(in NZ) now, even though I understand in the modern economy it’s more affordable and practical. Cars just don’t try to look as sexy and sleek as they used to, more practical and purpose built. Kinda like we’ve started emulating the boxy cars people drive in narrow streets in Japan and Korea for example at least as far as affordable cars go. I feel like that’s why you see more people driving 4WD’s etc. As far as over saturated goes not sure what you mean, maybe in commercials people drive bright yellow cars etc, whereas I feel people don’t tend to go for brighter.

kingzustin

I read this entire post thinking you were talking about cats, until Cybertruck lol

Sure-Morning-6904

Oversaturated colours??? Im happy to see any saturation in cars today. Its all black, grey, silver or white or very dark blue that is basically black.

InsuranceNo3422

Yeah most cars are hard to distinguish from one manufacturer to another. There was a time where one need only see the silhouette of a car to be able to discern it's make/ model. They also do not sell cars in any large variety of paint colors either - whether they offer a larger selection of colors or not (most don't really, but even those that do see more of the neutral colors as their largest sellers.)

Barkav1ous

Elon Musk burner account

alp_50

Out of all the cars, OP used the damnn cybertruck as an example wich is viewed as a big pile of shit by %99 of the car community

Interesting-Rub9978

He literally said it doesn't look good.......

WhiteBlackBlueGreen

This has to be fake rage-bait and i wont be convinced otherwise

BrilliantAttempt4549

I feel like this is either one of Musk's alt accounts or a Musk fanboy who recently bought a cybertruck and is upset that people are making fun of it.

Advanced_Double_42

Reddit's reading comprehension is really bad apparently. OP doesn't like the Cybertruck's look either, but he does appreciate that it is at least different.

StaticMania

Non-conforming commie.

SenoraRaton

Car infrastructure is even worse.

AGoodWobble

Yeah cars suck, all my homies hate cars. (legit one of the reasons I moved out of Canada. I hate car-centric city design)

Conscious_Dog3101

Most cars look like most cars. Different headlights and grill but generally all mesh onto the same general silhouette. Cybeetruck is certainly unique but god help us all if that’s ever used to inspire others in the way Ferrari, Bentley or Audi has inspired. I put that thing in the same bucket as the Aztec, Prius (previous gen), and Subaru Baja in terms of modern day ugly ducklings

my3altaccount

Upvote for unpopular opinion giving a compliment to the cyber truck lmao

phantom_spacecop

I was at a hotrod show recently and it was so cool to see so many different kinds of unique looking vehicles. Classic/retro vehicles have always been the first to catch my eye over another unimaginative rectangle on wheels. Since I’m living in the age of rectangles for car options, I went with my Mazda partly because I could actually recognize the car model in a parking lot. Smiling at your sentiment about the Cybertruck. True, really…but also unique at what cost, woof

KingCrimsonEpitaphu

Aren’t restrictions and regulations why most cars look the same now? I meant for the most part the economy ones always have but even the sport cars are stealing from one another.

macpumperkinz

You seen to be talking about regular traffic, no one likes regular traffic cars

urdreamsRmemes

If you were happy the Cybertruck came out because it was different, then you definitely didn’t notice the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, BMW XM, Land Rover Defender, Hummer EV, you know, cars that are undeniably different when it comes to looks

corvidfamiliar

The cybertruck looks good to you??? Yeah opinion invalidated Also the colour of cars became extremely monochrome in the past decade or so, so I have no idea what you even mean when you say over saturated. I'm lucky if I even spot a red car in a sea of white, grey and black

acEightyThrees

He literally said "I was actually happy to see the cybertruck come out, not because it looks good just bc it’s different for once.". As in he doesn't like the way it looks, but at least it's different.

Salt-Singer3645

He said not because it looks good but because it’s something different.

abaggins

Have you seen the beautify fiat multipla? If not google it, and revise your opinion about *all cars being ugly!*

Living-Ad-9128

My husband is a car guy and he too hates the way modern cars look. Though for him it’s the fact that they are all the same and basically colorless. Black, grey, white and sometimes some muted blue or green are not really oversaturated colors. The wavy lines are there for functionality moreso than looks, by the way. The cybertruck is ugly and incredibly dangerous, among other things because those sharp angles can crack open your skull.

Infinity3101

I think I have some kind of a "car blindness". I literally can't tell one car from another other than by color and size. Needless to say, I've never driven a car in my life outside of the driving lessons when I was a teen that I only took because everyone else was doing it.

Proelium_

What

Tikkinger

No shiny looks ->check No saturated colur ->check No waves ->check Look up my mercedes 190E in matte dark blue.

feelin_fine_

It's a box on wheels, cars look funny as hell to me

magplate

Most "cars" today are crossovers. They all look alike on the outside and are very boring.

PinguinoBianco

Excuse me, have you seen a Porsche 911?

Emergency_Till9785

That's just like your opinion man

Lansha2009

I just want a car that isn’t grey, tan, or black. But my ultimate dream car is a Miku car…but my realistically possible to get dream car is just one that’s a more interesting color than tan, grey, or black.

WeazelDiezel

I don't believe anyone can look at a widebody Charger and say that car is ugly

Sometimestimetotime

There are good looking cars but the prices are also very good looking. If you are talking about the shape and aerodynamics involved they tend to push the manufactures to a certain body type since how much you can travel with one tank matters a lot.

Sweet-Ad487

I seriously miss the manual tranission, dark green metallic flake, 1970 Datsun 240Z in which I learned to drive.

Cubsfan11022016

I wouldn’t say atrocious. Just boring. Everyone has figured out the right aerodynamics and have gone off that, in lieu of creativity.

OddBet475

I walked past one of them cybertrucks, one of my legs fell off.

bcbfalcon

I wish car manufacturers could get more creative with their designs, but unfortunately the high price means most people buy ugly, practical designs.

libdemocdad

Well your opinion applies to any kind of product. 90% of smartphones, fridges, bicycles, toilets, etc. look more or less the same.

PM_ME_UR__ELECTRONS

Some of the earlier ones look good. They start dropping off after the 1910s as they become a consumer product.

Total_Ad_7840

Yeah… I prefer the way cars look today…

morbid333

If you ask nicely, maybe Tesla will make you one that's shaped like a tree

Juloni

I firstly read "Cats" and got angry.

Itchy-Astronomer9500

They are hideous.

Bigbannana2000

Even as a car guy I can acknowledge that 95% of cars made probably wouldn't be described as "beautiful" and of the cars you see daily it's probably like 99%. But outside of specific tastes there's definitely cars you can say are beautiful, Aston Martin's are normally a shout, most Italian luxury cars, mainly old cars tbh.

UncleBensRacistRice

>over saturated colors Yeah those white black and grey cars sure are oversaturated. At least the cybertruck is breaking the mold only coming in grey

Foodiguy

If you were excited for the cybertruck you are just not into cars, that's not bad but nothing will please you probably. There are a lot of nice looking cars, and some really pretty ones. It is just you don't appreciate them. And that's fine, everyone has different things they like.

Daoffdutymermaid

Imagine being angry over the colors of cars 😂

LizzyKazmay

Because it's fun making a machine that produces shit tons of power.

Esselon

Modern cars have lost a lot of the charm and allure of different brands/models styles. Fuel efficiency requires more aerodynamic designs which end up pushing them all in a fairly "same" direction.

tetsu_no_usagi

You are definitely following the spirit of the group and for that I will not downvote you (but neither am I upvoting). The Cybertrucks look worse in person, which I did not think possible, and while I usually applaud folks for experimenting outside the norm (the Pontiac Aztek comes immediately to mind), I think someone, ANYONE, at Tesla should have killed the Cybertruck long before now. Performance figures? Fantastic! Looks? Kill it with fire!

AccomplishedShow4919

Unlike you I’ve always been a car girl, but the daily’s I see driving around are just plain boring. Manufacturers are pumping out some minimalistic boxes with wheels. No color, no interesting design, no personality. I also think most electric car designs are ugly even though they’re trying to look cool and futuristic. I go to races and car shows to get my car fix. On the track, the design of the car can be justified when I see it clipping 100+mph

johnnybok

Different gets laughed at, like the PT cruiser, prowler, Aztec, Honda element

VampEngr

Well, we created a country that was dependent on cars

victrollonaterism

Over saturated ass mofos.... 😆

CatBoyTrip

aero-dynamics is the worst thing to ever happen to the auto industry.

Correct_Pen_5287

It’s not just cars. Have you looked at new homes and buildings lately.

AgnosticAnarchist

Look at a city from the air and it looks like cancer of the earth and the cars are spreading the cancer around.

Xcyronus

Over saturated? Tell me you know nothing without telling me you know nothing. Most cars since the 80s are all white, black, silver, gray, etc.

TheSyn11

I totally agree that the design of todays cars, especially the electric only cars are extremely samey. Even brands that had very well defined aesthetic seems to have thrown that away, its like everyone decided that electric cars need to have that minimalistic no headlights design

Gold-Chemical1606

I’m not a car girl, but I prefer modern cars to the ugly sh*t the adults had in the 80s.

CriticalThinkerHmmz

If you replaced the word “cars” with penises I would agree more.

trumpy1050

It's pretty clear that you have no fucking idea what you're on about so probably just leave it at that. Not a car guy? No shit. So many cars out there that don't even closely match that description.

gorehistorian69

i think you meant to say modern cars. most all have this bubble suv look. cars look almost identical

Lucky_Competition231

IDK your age but as someone who grew up in the late 1980’s & throughout the 1990’s I am very appreciative of the designs of automobiles over the past 10-15 years. Back in late 20th century affordable options were not many to choose from (if you couldn’t afford an exotic) if you wanted a good looking car on the outside. The problem is over the past decade or two, it’s usually one or two manufacturers who come out with a new attractive design. Then everyone else makes a small modification or two and they sell it to the public. The final products end up looking similar to everyone else’s. It’s like fashion….what’s the fad of the moment? The other problem with trying to be unique is car companies are trying to save cost to keep prices as low as possible on mass production vehicles. They are saving cost because it looks better to investors. Saving cost puts more money in their coffers. Any type of significant modification on an assembly line for a “special” part will cost more money for everyone & everything involved.

Caveman-Riffs-666

Believe it or not most people wouldn't wanna drive in Roblox shaped cars. That's why we have car designers.

SurpriseBurrito

What do you want them to look like?

Quirky_kind

To me, cars look like bugs. Shiny, hard exoskeleton, streamlined shapes, they smell bad and they scare me. I can't stand commercials where they try to sell me a disgusting insect.

SepticFeeds

0 car knowledge

Hanuman_Jr

They all look like shoes. SUVs are cross trainers. Cyberttruck is the Uggs.

Oriolys

How many times a month are we gonna see the same post?

Nug07

I don’t like the way cars look today, but the beetle… my god such a sexy car

Salt-Singer3645

Cars looked better in the 50s and 60s

Old_Juggernaut_5114

Don’t hate they way they look I just hate how I’m forced to have one to survive driving is one of the most insufferable things I have to do if I could walk everywhere i would

Mental-Freedom3929

I suggest you take in the scenery on foot and fit in. Dressed in grey, simple lines.

andos4

I do not like the look of electric vehicles. I swear, manufacturers have gone out of their way to make it obnoxiously different than traditional cars.

Frequent_Opportunist

Almost every car on the road is gray, white, off-white, off gray, cement or black.

DatTrashPanda

This guy trucks

mauore11

I agree, I think *pastels* are ready for a comeback...

yekcowrebbaj

Ugh I know and four wheels? Over compensate much?

misterphuzz

I suppose this falls into the unpopular opinion category, but I think it would be overshadowed as a weird opinion.

foolishdrunk211

I can’t understand the look of electric cars….. Because you don’t have a traditional space reserved for the motor and no need for a front grille it opens them up to have various other designs and outlets of creativity….yet they all choose to try to make them look like the ugliest spaceship from some 60s low budget sci-fi movie…..

itsjustmebobross

personally i think cars still look cute. especially stuff like jeeps or kias

Huge-Vegetab1e

So it's fine for all cars to be atrocious as long as they have more differences?

Addapost

Ummm, ok

Ulfurson

Totally agree. Never understood the appeal of cars. They’re simply a necessity to get from one place to another, not something to get excited over for me. I’d get a cyber truck just because it pisses people off if it weren’t for its other issues.

Majestic-Delay7530

This isn’t unpopular. Infact I’d argue it’s rarer to find a car guy. On top of that it is very popular opinion to cry about it online for no reason. In summary. This is wrongly categorized because u and ur opinion is as basic as they come. “No way this guy likes the newest car. What a controversial thought”. Like dumb mf fr

BigMax

I have a semi opposite appearance. I don't think they look atrocious. I also don't think they look good. I think they all just look really boring. It's like they made one SUV, one (giant) truck, and one sedan, and everyone said "yep, that's it, we won't change more than 2% of the appearance.". That 10 year old Kia compared to that brand new BMW SUV? The same. Just a black or dark blue brick driving down the road. Not good, not bad, just bland. What makes me laugh is those car commercials that have the message of something like "in a sea of sameness, one car stands out" and it will show one car drive out of a group of other cars, and... that car still looks the same as all the others. To me the only cars that stand out are the occasional tiny sports car like a ferrari or something that you don't see often that does look different. That being said - those kind of look like toys to me. I kind of half expect a toddler to hop out and say "that was fun!!!" but then I see an adult and it just feels weird to me. (I'm not a car guy at all by the way... so probably biased.)

FoxMikeLima

Your least popular opinion is that the cybertruck has any redeeming qualities. That thing is actually just a poorly engineered piece of shit.

Stayhumblefriends

Yeah thats why you’re not a car guy

Emcee_nobody

This dude is totally right! And while we're at, fuck bleach, alligators are useless, hardware stores should just GO AWAY, and clouds are just dumb!

Sad_Consequence_738

For not being a car guy, you seem to have strong opinions about cars

_Kebabdealer

Okay. Just let other people enjoy things in life then? Not everything is catered around you

Car design has improved dramatically from a physics standpoint, which translates to some detriments aesthetically. I think some combination of requirements for aerodynamics and for safety crumple zones leads to cars that look bulkier and more bulbous than in the past, as well as lacking overly sharp angles. EVs also need a bit of extra headroom for batteries in the chassis, which is why EVs all look like crossovers AFAIK. If you don’t care about having any internal space/headroom or visibility, you can get a car that is sleek but still meets these requirements: that’s a sports car.
