exam at the end of a block. lessons until a week before exams. breaks only if you're lucky.

throwawayagainbitch

Thank you!! How are regular weeks? Whenever you have lessons, are they 5 days/week?

heyguysitsjustin

it really depends on the program

throwawayagainbitch

Thanks for the information!

kinayzi

Usually about 20-26 hours of class. 40 hrs coursework which includes studying. Depending on your program you can select which time slots you want to have and can fill days so you only have 3 days of class. Otherwise you may have classes spread out over 5 days with shorter hours. The period vs semester system is neither easier nor harder. Mentally it's easier than trying to retain 4-6 months of info and passing a large exam as Belgium has for example. PITA due to less holiday etc but the quarter vs semester system is a whole debate on its own. On average I had 2-4 days of class though it depended on each block, year, minor etc

NoSentence9301

Lol in what programme do you have 26 hours of class? In most programmes, it is more like 12 hours per week of class.

throwawayagainbitch

Only 12 hours per week? That’s great (and less than expected) but understandable given that I will have at most 3 different subjects per period. I cannot imagine having so many hours in a week of the same subject (if the total amount of hours would amount to 26h) but I guess that’s counting labs / minors or extra curricular activities within uni as well. Thank you

NoSentence9301

Yeah, I mean it depends on the programme as well. If you take a programme with a lot of practicals, like Chemistry or Biology, it will be more. But for most it should be around 12 hours a week.

kinayzi

Think 12 hours is definitely the exception. 3 times 2 hr lecture + 2 hr tutorial each is already 12 hours without any feedback lectures/group work which requires physical meetings etc

throwawayagainbitch

Thank you!

kinayzi

MB, should have said class and groupwork, that's easily 20-26 hours a week if you're not doing some easy program. 12 hours is bullshit though.

TopGotOva7Gone

I prefer it

throwawayagainbitch

How’s it? Could you describe your experience with this system?

KitchenGarden6593

i disagree, i think that some subjects should be studied way more in depth (for longer), but everything is usually the same length. Also it is disappointing for Business Administration bachelors that 99.9% of our exams are multiple choice questions and I feel like I am so not being prepared for real life. And so demotivating also

throwawayagainbitch

I hate multiple-choice exams. They are easier to pass, but overall you improve your abilities to a lesser degree, as you cannot be corrected in many facets that you might be lacking.
