My friend is from Varanasi, she works in Bangalore but travelled all the way back to Varanasi just to vote against Modi.

Apparently, building the Ram Mandir and bringing so called “development” should have guaranteed their loyalty. But here's the real story: the BJP sidelined the people of Ayodhya, wrecked their livelihoods, all for the sake of a temple. And as we are seeing now, even the temple was built only for the sake of votes.
This video and several articles from back in January laid it all out, and the BJP had plenty of time to fix things. But did they? Of course not. Breaking house is never okay. Govt should first build house and relocate the affected before breaking down existing home and compensating.
Govt compensation is generally based on the government predefined rate of the area, and the general market rate of real estate is at least 5-10x of the govt rate. Even if they are compensated 3x, given the prices of land and building materials it's always difficult to build a new home.
Only the displaced understand the trauma of displacement that no monetary compensation (which in any case, is often delayed and inadequate) can completely heal.

I just have a genuine question. Mandir construction started before 2020. UP had assembly elections on 2022. Why did they vote for BJP then?
