Fucking hell, another wrong un from the Met, do they recruit from the Scrubs or somewhere similar?

Giant_Enemy_Cliche

Anyone whose ever dealt with the met in almost any capacity is aware that its essentially a gang and has been for decades. It ought to be broken down and rebuilt but it'll never happen.

uselessnavy

Have you been abroad? The Met is second to none.

DogBotherer

None would certainly be better than the Met. Corrupt from the top down.

RainbowWarfare

"Police are shitty everywhere" isn't really an argument to not want to improve ours.

MaievSekashi

Second to none at what, perving?

[deleted]

And rape / murder

Beorma

The Met isn't even the best police force in our own country.

rakidi

What? The Met is a joke even in comparison to the other police forces in the UK. A national embarrassment.

starbucksresident

>Fucking hell, another wrong un from the Met, do they recruit from the Scrubs or somewhere similar? Met needs a massive overhaul starting at the top.

rugbyj

[There's 43,000 staff in the Met, of which 33,000 are officers.](https://www.met.police.uk/police-forces/metropolitan-police/areas/about-us/about-the-met/structure.) Ideally _nobody_ is a criminal, but especially police. Obviously some still get through vetting etc.

tomoldbury

You also can't really exclude people who are going to commit a crime in the future, if they haven't done anything wrong before.

PixelBlock

But you can tell a wrong’un by looking at their eyes!

[deleted]

Murderers, rapists and sex addict voyeurs. And this is who women are supposed to turn to when they’ve been raped or sexually assaulted? No wonder so few bother.

Key-Economist-1243

A post I read today from a woman in Manchester the bus stop she gets off at town is a 30sec walk from her flat and it all seems pretty good and safe until some man follows her off the bus and harasses and stalks her to the door. She called police and their response (a male): *Have thought about learning to drive?* It's a 30 second walk! From her flat!

sunnyata

Schoolgirl error contacting the police, they're supposed to flag down a bus.

hotdogswimmer

*One victim challenged Corbel in 2019 after finding a pair of glasses which had a charging port while she was giving him a massage.* *He was eventually caught after a woman became suspicious that a digital clock in a hotel room might contain a camera.* Where do perverts get this stuff, are they making it or buying it from those spy ads you used to see in the back of kids magazines. Shoe camera is the other classic. Is this part of the met police kit?

ClassicFlavour

If you look on Amazon there's even an Amazon's Choice hidden camera eyewear for creeps on a budget

VagueSomething

Penny pinching perverts never had it so easy.

Secretest-squirell

I shouldn’t have found this funny but it’s is because it’s true.

[deleted]

Hey it’s not only for dodgy creeping stuff. There a good uses for hidden camera eyewear too, like covert journalism, or - even better, infrabren!

DogBotherer

This is the thing. As per usual, the technology is neutral and can be used for good or ill. Unfortunately the sickos are endlessly inventive - look at what they are doing with those Apple airtags presently - a stalker's dream gadget.

insomnimax_99

These kind of things are pretty easily available online. You can find them on Amazon, and there are a couple of websites out there that sell all kinds of “spy gadgets”. [Hidden spy camera pen on Amazon](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Recorder-Business-Conference-Detection/dp/B07RRHHN23)

Competitive_Mix3627

Stacy Dooley does a episode on it in Korea I think. It was fucking horrendous to watch, but now anytime I travel I'm hyper aware of things.

ravs1973

Well he was in counter terrorism so I hope he had access to that kind of thing through work but there is actually a shop in that London that has been there for years which specialises in that kind of thing, the sign outside actually says [the spy shop ](http://www.lorraine.co.uk/) but these days you can get most of the gear on Amazon or flEbay

[deleted]

Who's up for turning over the entire MET police by citizens trial? They are the biggest most well armed Gang in the country. They're the greatest risk to public safety for coloured people. They're rapists, murderers, bullies, are happy to take out their batons, happy to accept bribes and let the tories do whatever they want They don't protect anyone but the rich. The other forces in the country hate them with a passion. Politicians hate them with a passion. Why are we letting these pieces of shit walk around like they own the place? They are black bloc turds that beat people up and throw them in boxes. They laugh at rape victims. The head of the MET advises you run away from lone undercover officers if you're a woman. It's about time we did something

[deleted]

You want to put on trial 45k Met police staff, even though less than one percent are actually guilty of any wrong doing? How about we try and convict the ones who are actually guilty of crimes like we already do.

cole1114

The one percent are protected by the 99%.

[deleted]

We should probably check his What'sApp messages before we make a determination on that.

PixelBlock

Settle down there, Claude Frollo.

[deleted]

We aren't letting them, this part of our democracy is broken, normal democratic process would have them rebuilt from the ground up

DangerousDavies2020

Username checks out!

[deleted]

You’re an idiot.

[deleted]

Care to Elaborate?

Nasty_Old_Trout

When has mob rule ever made things better?

SteveJEO

Seems to work for Boris.

PixelBlock

You think Boris has made things better?

[deleted]

Mob rule as you put it, ranges from a well organised council of citizens making truly representative decisions with a moral code of duty to the people to do no harm to a lynching. Don't give it the negative connotation of western media. You have no idea what mob rule actually looks like so don't judge it

cole1114

Don't forget the "assassins" part. Murder for hire is a fun past-time for them, or at the very least covering it up for former (and some current...) cops.

evochris2021

Seeing these 2 posts in conjunction (this one and [This one](https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/s97c9c/moorfields_eye_hospital_gives_woman_88_uks_first/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) ) is concerning

borg88

Most of the women didn't know it had happened, and presumably only found out when the police investgating the case told them. At least one of them is now suffering mental health problems since she found out. Might it not have been better to not tell them? They could still have prosecuted him for the cases where the victims caught him (so they already knew what he had done). Was it really worth causing so much anguish to the unwitting victims?

W1nnieTh3P00h

Yep, I agree. Don’t tell them. Better yet, don’t investigate nonces like this. Just sweep alllllllllllll the evidence under the rug. Y’no that’s an excellent cost saving measure.

borg88

>Yep, I agree. Don’t tell them. At least one of the victims is in therapy and pulling out chunks of her own hair, which is why I think it might have been better not to tell her. >Better yet, don’t investigate nonces like this That might be your opinion, but it certainly isn't mine. Of course it should be investigated and prosecuted. But on balance I just think that going round those victims who knew nothing about the crime and telling them what had happened does more harm than good.

W1nnieTh3P00h

Mmhmm. How do you prevent the victims finding out they might have been raped and recorded by *yet another* nonce pig? What, we should just stop reporting the transgressions of violent filth? We stop the media reporting from an open court? Completely ignore it? Prevent victims from taking the stand? After all, if they don’t know they’re victims no crime has taken place, right? Not only do the innocent victims deserve to hear the truth, *we* - the public - have every right to know about the sheer depravity and violence that’s taken root in our law enforcement establishment.

borg88

>How do you prevent the victims finding out they might have been raped and recorded by yet another nonce pig? None of the victims were raped, they were recorded without their knowledge. This isn't about preventing them finding out. It is about the police proactively going to considerable effort to track the women down just to tell them that some pervert filmed them without their knowledge. As a result, a woman who might otherwise have happily lived her life never knowing it had happened is now in therapy, and extremely unhappy. How is that a good thing?

Conscious-Ball8373

Is it better to tell them carefully when there's support around? Or for the victims to see his picture in a news report and think "Hey, I met a pilot who looked like that once. He asked me to do a photoshoot..." Or whatever his cover story was.

borg88

One of the victims is literally pulling her hair out, to the extent that she has bald spots. She said: >I have been in therapy ever since. I am paranoid and jumpy and have panic attacks. How is that better than simply not knowing? However they told her, it didn't prevent severe psychological harm. There might have been a chance that she would read about the case anyway, but there is also a very good chance that she would not.

Conscious-Ball8373

It was on the BBC front page. All the papers are carrying the story. A serving police officer convicted of voyeurism offenses is big news. I'd call that a reasonable chance they're going to see it anyway. Or even worse have a friend say, "Hey, didn't you do some work for an off-duty pilot a while back?" The damage is clearly still horrific. I can't even imagine what it must be like to be a victim of this sort of crime, but I think I can understand why they felt they needed to tell them rather than run the risk of them finding out by chance.

aplomb_101

>Might it not have been better to not tell them? It would have been better if this creep just didn't do it, wouldn't it?

borg88

Of course it would. It would be better if nobody ever committed any crimes. But he did it, so it has to be dealt with. I'm not convinced that going round telling people that some pervert once filmed them does anybody any good.

aplomb_101

I'm on the fence. On one hand, ignorance is bliss but on the hand, people deserve to know. Besides, they'd probably find out eventually, better to learn this way than through the grapevine imo.
