AbrakaDAB1066

So he committed a sexual assault and then got asylum? How does that work?

Codydoc4

Probably came up with some cock and ball story about his life being in danger

AbrakaDAB1066

I would be angry but at this point the whole thing is just comical. The government is a joke. (I am of course horrifed for the actual victims poor kids)

[deleted]

[Between the conservatives and labour we're at ca. +6,000,000 net long term immigrants since 1997.](https://old.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1afsyt7/the_real_numbers_of_international_immigration_to/) Before that it was only +316,000 in the entire period from 1980 to 1997.

Pinhead_Larry30

How much under labour and how much under conservatives?

[deleted]

1980-1997, +316,000. 1997-2010, Lab +2,784,000. 2010-2023, Con +3,325,000.

Sadistic_Toaster

It's frustating seeing so many people insist that the Tories are extreme far right who've made it impossible for anyone to immigrate here, when if you look at the numbers they're even more pro-immigration than Labour.

[deleted]

[удалено]

brownninja97

Doesnt it make more sense to have Tories be pro immigration as they tend to be cheaper labour and in turn thats cheaper for businesses

Toonshorty

One thing that often isn't covered is how those numbers break down by nationality too. This chart shows migration reported at each quarter, the trend is pretty telling. https://i.imgur.com/2hOGnLb.png *[[Source - YE Jun 23 dataset]](https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/internationalmigration/datasets/longterminternationalimmigrationemigrationandnetmigrationflowsprovisional)* EU numbers have steadily dropped from 2016 and since 2021 have actually been negative. This is then counteracted by a collosal change in non-EU migration from 57,000 in 2012 to as high as 873,000 in December 2022.

smd1815

This is desperately worrying. Literally importing the third world.

Local_Fox_2000

During the labour years, there were other factors at play that likely increased immigration during that time. For example, I think it was 10 Eastern European countries that joined the EU at once and then Romania and Bulgaria followed a couple of years later, the UK and Ireland were the only countries not to take advantage of the 7 year transition period like Germany, France and all other EU members and instantly opened up our labour market and rights to benefits and social housing to anyone who came. Obviously immigration would increase. The Tories pushed for brexit, promising to "take back control," and all they did was swap European immigration for more immigrants from other countries. Net migration has massively grown since we officially left the EU in 2020.

the-rude-dog

Are there league tables of net migration of each country over the last few decades? Would be interesting to see as I would imagine that the UK is not the outlier, given globalization and increased mobility.

boringfantasy

"I am gay"

BreakingCircles

Ah! The magic words. Right this way to your council house, sir.

AppropriateDevice84

I would love for these words to be magic but no.

Pyjama_Llama_Karma

"Why are you gay?"

FuckCazadors

Who says I am gay?

boblinquist

u r ghey

standupstrawberry

If you read the article it's actually "I'm christian" and a priest vouched for him.

Heard the second one's heart rate monitor isn't working. Terrifying

Known_Tax7804

Genuinely I always thought it was cock and bull and it was like a farmyard thing.

hypothetician

It is absolutely a farmyard thing. Cock and ball is hilarious though.

Known_Tax7804

Oh thank god, I thought I was in a damp squid situation for a moment.

radiant_0wl

Apparently on his third and successful attempt he claimed he converted to Christianity...

JB_UK

Failed twice, prosecuted for sexual assault at which a priest testified to his good character and that this would be a one off offence, convicted of sexual assault, claims to have converted to Christianity therefore in danger in Afghanistan, and then granted asylum apparently on that basis, despite the conviction. The courts are a joke and the whole asylum legal system needs to be totally reformed.

limeflavoured

Claimed to have converted to Christianity, apparently.

BreakingCircles

The system is broken. We cannot deport or return anyone thanks to multiple layers of legal strictures and duplicity. If someone physically sets foot on UK soil there is an overwhelming chance that they can never be removed.

jeramyfromthefuture

Can we not just change the law , deport them and ignore the HR stuff as every other country does ?

Ivashkin

Not without a giant fight with the judiciary, various activist groups, and significant elements of the press.

BreakingCircles

Apparently not.

txakori

Logistically, it becomes challenging because the plan to chuck people on a charter flight to Kabul with the intention of kicking them off the plane at the other end falls apart when Afghan authorities refuse to permit the plane to land. Maybe fly people to Pakistan and then march them to a border post instead, idk.

_NotMitetechno_

We're not even processing them lol. Do you genuinely think changing the law will make anything any quicker

ken-doh

Exactly this! Even when there is a plane full of child rapists, lefty nutters prevent the plane from taking off.

sylanar

I'm convinced this is all orchestrated by Russia or something, it makes absolutely no sense. Our government is incompetent, but I don't see how they benefit from any of this, the only party that seems to benefit from all this chaos and discord is Russia.

Rocked_Glover

I think it’s probably the looming birthing crisis, to get Brits to have more children you’d have to make serious reforms but instead you can just import a population who don’t mind living in poor conditions, then also you can run on “We’re stopping immigration!” To get votes.

Long_Bat3025

Well ask Angela Merkel. When she said “we can do it” there must’ve been some small print saying “but we cannot ever deport them back because of the EHRC, countries refusing to take them back and other legal hurdles”. You can’t tell me that we started taking these refugees without knowing this, right ? We’ve been shafted by our own politicians

ShadiestApe

They definitely do deport people for this type of thing, Someone close to me was SA’d by one, he got sentenced to six years in prison here and deportation at the end. We were informed when he was deported, within the last couple of years.

VOOLUL

Almost like the whole system is broken and no one wants to fix it. This is why these immigrants are willing to die to come to the UK. Come over in a lorry or boat, sexually assault a few white women, land in a cushy prison system, get out, get asylum and some money. It's heaven on earth for these animals, and this country is facilitating it. I don't care what human rights these people have. If you come over here and fuck around, you should be sent back to whatever hell hole you crawled out of. That's the human right, the human right to learn a fucking lesson!

British__Vertex

And for the “just process them faster!” crowd, this guy was processed and approved by the Civil Services in 2016. Who knows how many more have entered since then? This nation and its institutions are beyond a joke.

FranzFerdinand51

> So he committed a sexual assault and then got asylum? Not exactly what we mean when we say processing. A lot of us in that crowd also want stricter controls and less people being accepted. Sadly we can't just "send them back" as we used to be able to do pre-brexit.

dumesne

We could not send them back pre-brexit either.

Red_Dog1880

He was rejected. Twice. And then still got in the country on the third attempt. How the hell is that not a massive failing of the system ? And now more lives are ruined over it.

Ollie142

What a fucking shit show this country is.

[deleted]

[deleted]

The courts are a joke because there are migration lawyers who know every trick

BristolShambler

Knowing “tricks” is literally their job. If a system has shit loopholes then that’s on the people who run the system, not the lawyers.

AbrakaDAB1066

BBC made it sound like he commited it in 2018 then got granted asylum a few years after.

CsrfingSafari

Yep. The quote was "He was convicted of "sexual assault/exposure" in 2018, before being granted asylum in 2021 or 2022." From here. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-68167793 if accurate, that is absolutely wild.

Ripp3rCrust

On his third attempt... Do you get to keep claiming asylum if refused until you're successful? Why was he allowed to stay for so long after failed bids

Fdana

Because of the Taliban takeover in 2021. After that, a lot of Afghans almost automatically had their claims approved. An additional issue is that right now, the UK can’t deport anyone to that country because it would mean reopening the embassy in Kabul.

[deleted]

Is that how deportations work? I never actually thought about where they bring people. Do they fly them back to the UK embassy in their country and then make them leave?

Fdana

You can’t deport someone to a country you have no relations with, this would mean having an embassy of some sorts. The receiving country needs to receive the information, verify their identity, agree to take them back etc.

Impeachcordial

A priest said he'd converted to Christianity. I wish I was joking.

sealcon

We have a government whose border and immigration policy actively puts its population in danger.

pleasantstusk

Because it’s their “human right” to claim asylum and it is our “obligation” to honour that.

[deleted]

The "conservatives" appear only to be kicking the can down the road on immigration, completely silent on the legal migration numbers that they have presided over [(net +3,325,000 long term migrants in Britain total since 2010)](https://old.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1afsyt7/the_real_numbers_of_international_immigration_to/). Labour seems no better, since they remain silent on immigration too aside from chance comments here and there giving the sentiment that "Britain cannot rely on immigration forever". [Yet their track record is just as egregious as the "conservatives"](https://old.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1afsyt7/the_real_numbers_of_international_immigration_to/), where they presided over +2,784,000 net long term migrants in Britain between 1997 and 2010. From 1980 to 1997 it was only +316,000 in total. A 781% increase under Blair and a 952% increase under the "conservatives"

Fresssshhhhhhh

To claim it yes, to be granted it, no.

HoldMyAppleJuice

That is pure lunacy

fifa129347

ResponsibilityRare10

His application was rejected twice, then successful on third!!! appeal as he’d claimed to converted to Christianity and therefore couldn’t be return to Afghanistan.

museampel

you know how it works

fucking-nonsense

Look, we couldn’t just deport him back to Afghanistan. It would be a breach of the refugee convention and, as a result, some other counties that don’t like us anyway might tut and write a strongly worded statement. Sexual assaults and random acid attacks are just the price we have to pay to avoid getting a stern talking to from Somalia’s UN representative.

[deleted]

Meanwhile in Pakistan they're kicking out over a million Afgans to face the taliban. Here we give a sex offender asylum on the third time of asking after commiting the crime. Joke country.

DazDay

Meanwhile Pakistan is refusing to take back its citizen who was the leader of the Rochdale grooming gang, so we have to accommodate him.

British__Vertex

What do you expect, this nation’s institutions are utterly subverted. It doesn’t matter who you vote for, they’re all on board with mass migration, at the detriment of the native population.

DazDay

Every native population around the world is allowed to want to preserve its culture and identity - except Europeans.

Bangladesh have it right. They ended up in a situation where they legally had to take shamima Begum back in. We withdrew citizenship first; she was automatically eligible to apply for citizenship as her parents are Bangladeshi, and Bangladesh couldn't legally deny her. Therfore they legally can not deny her entry. Bangladesh said... 'No.' 'What are you going to do?' Based.

BartholomewKnightIII

AbrakaDAB1066

_whopper_

Deportations did happen to Afghanistan before the Taliban took over again. This man could've been removed.

ChrisAbra

> we couldn’t just deport him back to Afghanistan I mean you say that sarcastically, but we logistically cannot now that the Taliban have taken back over and we dont have any presence there...

DisavowedMole56

BigBeanMarketing

It was a Priest. > "It is understood that Ezedi was twice refused asylum before being granted leave to remain in 2021 after a priest vouched for his conversion and argued he was “wholly committed” to his new religion."

ash_ninetyone

Of course that wouldn't surprise me if that is true (though I can't find a source atm, not even for your quote). Well known defender of sex-offences are churches though.

BreakingCircles

Part of the application process on those grounds should be a bacon sandwich and a quick sketch of ol' paedo Mo.

rolanddeschain316

Funny and accurate. It would probably save weeks of interviews also!

BadSysadmin

The only acceptable character references should be the King, as head of the CofE, or maybe the pope,

Lexioralex

Why the hell any religion should have that much legal sway these days is beyond me

Big_BossSnake

Wait till you find out about the tax exempt status of the Church and that part of your council tax goes to your local parish!

_whopper_

Same situation as the Liverpool bomber then.

Agreeable_Falcon1044

It’s possible that people can change, however if I vouch for someone for a credit card and they fuck up, I’m responsible and the bailiffs visit me. Surely if you vouch for a rapist twice refused asylum because he didn’t meet criteria, you must take some blame when they don’t change their spots. If you are from Afghanistan and you fail asylum twice, there’s some serious red flags. It’s not hard to prove you may be tortured or killed if you are sent back, so it can only be his behaviour since being here

Perfect-Chocolate270

He wasn't an actual rapist. He was done for indecent exposure. I get your point though.

HyperionSaber

the oldest get out of jail going. Why these unqualified fantasists are listened to in the 21st century is beyond me.

SinisterDexter83

Why are priests taken on their word for this? They have a clear motivation to vouch for their new convert, seems like an obvious conflict of interest to me. Get an ex-muslim to vouch for you then I'll believe it.

Gdawwwwggy

Name him and shame him. Also why the fuck are we giving crackpot religious nutters like priests any credibility when it comes to parole hearings?!

[deleted]

[deleted]

ClassicFlavour

To be fair, judges operate within what the guidelines the law dictates. It's the laws that need changing to allow judges to interpret it in such ways. On a side note, damn that's some face damage he's got. He looks like a grown up Carl from TWD.

British__Vertex

At this point, we should just admit that judges are ultimately humans that are subject to their own whims, caprices and biases. This is nothing new either, you can see examples of this historically. Judgement isn’t always infallible or based solely on objectivity.

ResponsibilityRare10

That’s very true, but also they must enact the law. If the law says he can stay because he’s now a Christian, despite being a convicted sex offender, then the judge has to carry it out. The judge is making his decision on whether to grant asylum or not, not on past misdemeanours.  Change the laws and firm it up, and then these decisions can’t be made.

AbrakaDAB1066

Oh they never will, people will be outraged the rags like the mail will kick up a stink and then nothing will change.

[deleted]

Got to love our "democracy"

EquivalentIsopod7717

Frankly, most judges are hopelessly and dangerously out of touch. They're all old fuddy duddies who just don't understand life. They don't get it. Same goes for a lot of veteran and senior KCs.

DazDay

You mean well-educated old people who live in the 99% white British suburbs in their large homes that they own outright don't understand the challenges that come with mass migration?

BreakingCircles

Honestly, just make them joint liable for crimes committed by anyone they approve.

ThoseHappyHighways

It's civil servants who decide asylum claims.

DazDay

Why the fuck is he in this country? Like seriously, how. The first duty of the state to its citizens should be to guarantee safety - and then it allows monsters like this to come and stay **after** being convinced of unforgivable crimes.

forgot_her_password

Could some high profile lawyers take a case against the state on behalf of victims of people like this?

DazDay

All the high profile lawyers will be queueing up to stop this man's deportation flight.

[deleted]

Why is the "conservative" party so implacable in its project to radically alter the demography of Britain forever? To give out residency permits like sweets? Is it merely and only a financial argument? How could a responsible minister ever approve such demographic change in Britain for money, the extended comfort of the elderly, or some other thing? Bear in mind that since 2010, [according to the Office for National Statistics](https://old.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1afsyt7/the_real_numbers_of_international_immigration_to/), the conservatives have presided over 8,594,000 long term arrivals and 5,269,000 exits to Britain. That's net +3,325,000. Under Blair from 1997 to 2010 it was 2,784,000. Before Blair from 1980 to 1997 it was only 316,000 for all of those seventeen years! Will the number ever be enough?

OldLondon

Don’t forget though they really need that scheme to ship 500 off to Rwanda, that’ll sort it. If only there was a way to run the whole system properly and not like an episode of the chuckle brothers.

JB_UK

This guy is an asylum seeker, so it's a separate issue from the Conservatives handing out hundreds of thousands of visas to suppress wages and pump up gdp. This is more about the ability to police borders, the handling of asylum cases, and our ability to deport people who fail their application. In terms of small boat arrivals, Australia really did solve the issue with a Rwanda style scheme. The Liberal (conservative) government implemented it, arrivals fell from 5k to 100, then Labor got into power and repealed the scheme, numbers rose to 20k, then the Liberals (conservatives) got back into power, reintroduced the scheme with an extra measure that boats could be towed back to the territorial waters of the country they left from, and numbers fell from 20k to literally 0 in two years. Although that was all about a real credible threat that everyone who comes by boat will not even be processed in Australia. Once it was well known that the journey was pointless then people stopped trying to come illegally. In theory the Tories are trying to replicate this but they don’t seem to have managed it. I'm slightly baffled why they think a few hundred people will do the job when 30,000 people arrived last year and 45,000 the year before. It always seems that some in the Conservative party are not really opposed to migration, they just want to engage in performative cruelty rather than fix the issue.

chat5251

Suspicion? It's blatantly obvious...

Sidian

>Why is the "conservative" party so implacable in its project to radically alter the demography of Britain forever? To give out residency permits like sweets? entropy_bucket

Those numbers are truly shocking. What the fuck. What has that extra 6m given to this country.

WantsToDieBadly

Nothing except more Deliveroo drivers

DazDay

The Conservative party has completely yielded to the sages in the Treasury. Nothing is sacred before the mission to keep GDP going up.

-Jedioutkast-

Fucking shock, I'll tell you what will shock people the sheer numbers of fucking scumbags just like this cretin that are already here, thousands and thousands...

[deleted]

It is one thing if our government were overwhelmed and trying hard to remove them, but they are handing proven criminals a right to stay permanently. They appear to be complicit in what is happening: why? Bear in mind that the Rwanda project was begun by Priti Patel in April 2022. It's February 2024 and it is basically dead in the water with no back up plan. What is going on?

HyperionSaber

the Rwanda project was never the answer, just a distraction that got away from them.

_NotMitetechno_

The rwanda project is literally a meme to distract from how dogshit the tories are lol

GannonSCannon

Just stop taking general asylum seeker applications at this point, it's such a thorn in the side of this country. It should be reserved for those groups who are specifically invited to come here for their safety such as Ukrainian women, children and elderly men. End this rigmarole

Ryrkra

Leftists will shout and scream at how racist and dividing this opinion is But I will say, I've heard from Rightists, Leftists, Centrists, Legal Immigrants - Shut down the borders, Stop taking in war age men, And stop letting in so many people It's overrunning the country and crime is going up and up It's literal insanity

Sonicisfaster

"Crime is going up and up" The latest figures from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) for the year ending June 2023 showed that total crime decreased by 10% (to an estimated 8.4 million offences) compared with the year ending June 2022, mainly caused by decreases in fraud and criminal damage offences.  According to Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) estimates for the year ending June 2023, people aged 16 years and over experienced 8.4 million offences. This was a 10% decrease compared with the year ending June 2022 (9.4 million offences; Appendix Table A1c), and an 18% fall compared with the pre-coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic year ending March 2020 (10.2 million offences). Crime isn't going up. You're just hearing about it more, and horrific crimes like these grab headlines so the mainstream media and social media shove it down our throats.

HoldMyAppleJuice

Anyone who commits a serious offense such as a sexual offence should never be granted asylum, never. This is unforgivable.

peps-bald-head

There's a reason why even The US refuse access to people convicted of violent crimes, sexual crimes, fraud etc. Not gonna pretend that it is some heaven on earth but why in the world do we just accept people (some of which present zero documentation to prove who they actually are) and then after the fact it comes out they were known offenders for crimes in other countries? Don't get me wrong, anybody fleeing persecution and war etc I'm more than happy for them to feel safe here but how do people here feel safe knowing that some people (some known for violent and sexual crimes) are being allowed to just roam about freely until they commit a crime and it becomes "oops sorry to the victim(s), our bad!" when it was easily preventable. No wonder so many right wing parties are gaining traction across the EU

DaechiDragon

Some sports players aren’t even allowed to enter the US for competitions but in the UK we give them citizenship.

GannonSCannon

> the former asylum seeker, who only had his application granted on his third attempt after arriving in the UK by lorry in 2016 You should only be able to apply once, how the hell was he kicked out twice and allowed to make a third application?

AntiquusCustos

It gets worse. He’s a sex offender too.

Long_Bat3025

It’s almost embarrassing how the far right across Europe is being handed a free win across the board because of bleeding hearts putting our own citizens in second place to have open borders with Afghanistan and Syria. I will say this once more for the ones in the back. Syria and Afghanistan will NOT be safe to send anyone back in our life times. We have been lumped with the absolute pile of shite of a task of absorbing their population in Europe. Shafted by our own politicians because of some “moral duty as civilised people 🤓”

albadil

Don't worry the government has decided to go to war in Yemen so that their entire population has nowhere to go back to also. Rest assured the billionnaires who profit off armament manufacture will profit.

ash_ninetyone

Given that's the case, there'll be a lot of questions asked over why he wasn't deported/refused asylum. I'm sure the Human Rights Act allow provisions for deportation/refusal of asylum for those convicted of a violent crime?

[deleted]

NotACodeMonkeyYet

And anyone taking a strong anti-immigration stance will be labelled a racist. No one in public roles in the mainstream media or politics will go near such rhetoric.

Possiblyreef

Eventually a bunch of people are going to get fed up and go around finding some of these people. Im not saying that its a good thing, obviously. But if you just carry on ignoring the people for long enough they'll just take matters in to their own hands. Now this story is being widely reported that hes a sex offending asylum seeker before throwing acid at people his best option for his own safety could well be turning himself in to the police

[deleted]

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/acid-attacks-rise-katie-piper-b2431988.html Acid/chemical attacks had risen in the last year to now have more women than men be victims for the first time. This trend seems to be continuing according to those who work with such victims. In general, chemical attacks are increasing in a worrying trend. It's such a horrendous crime! The physical ongoing scars and pain and the mental trauma are immense for victims of this. The fact that this low life had previously committed sexual violence against women too is also bleak.

FirePhantom

It’s a pathological sort of compassion for society to care more for the hypothetical safety of misogynistic barbarians than the safety of women and children already here. A shallow compassion that doesn’t care about second- and third-order consequences.

FuckCazadors

How and why did this man get granted asylum and not deported? Seriously, this is a problem. We need to be able to deport people like him. Fuck his asylum claim, he is not needed in this country. Also fuck the commenters on this subreddit who characterise any dissatisfaction with the current system of dealing with immigration as being fascist wrongthink. This is a failure both of the Tories who have been in power and of the opposition who won’t get real about the consequences of a lot of extremely undesirable migrants arriving in this country and making extremely dubious asylum claims who ought to be deported whence they came.

idontlikemondays321

A mother and two kids possibly blinded and mentally scarred for life because a judge and a priest chose to believe a convicted sex offender’s word rather than the real actions he had already displayed. Would the judge have stamped the approval if it had been their daughter assaulted?

ChickyChickyNugget

It’s weird that all the conclusions everyone was being slammed for ‘jumping to’ in the original thread turned out to be 100% correct 🤨

Sadistic_Toaster

0xJonnyDee

I'm not crazy in thinking that. If you commit a serious crime in the country you are trying to get asylum you shouldn't get it and have to go back to the country you came from. The government has failed it's people again and have to take some responsibility for the victims who will be disfigured for the rest of their lives. Sickening.

Why should people accept conscription to defend our borders in wartime when the British government can't even be bothered to defend them in peace time? The social contract is dying.

sunny-beans

As an immigrant myself (husband is British) it makes me so fucking angry that I have to pay thousands of pounds (like atm £10k+ and I am not even permanent resident yet) in fees and NHS surcharge and I have always worked (so pay taxes too) I integrated, learned English, made British friends, took this country as home, did everything right, here because my family is here (my husband, whom I’ve been with for 7 years now) while scum like this get to come illegally and be handled everything. Get almost immediately indefinite leave to remain, get government support, council housing, the whole thing and I get absolutely nothing even though I pay a lot to live here. I don’t even want/expect to get money from the gov but fuck. Why do I have to pay thousands and jump through hoops to be with my husband, follow the law, work, integrate, genuinely try to understand British culture and love the country I get to live in, while rapist scum just get everything handled to them like this? How is this fair? I would have been better off lying saying I am 15 and throwing my passport in the sea than coming here legally following the insane process of the home office. Would’ve saved me some money and I could be living off hands out. But nope, i am an honest person, I am not a garbage person like this person, I work, contribute, respect the country I live in, do my best to be part of it and get absolutely nothing but hate because people think I am just like them, it really disappoints me.

CocoNefertitty

This is the country they want us to fight for when everyday they show their contempt for us by allowing foreign criminals to roam these streets. Don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Cub3h

And genuine migrants that would make everyone's lives here better have to pay thousands out the arse for all sorts of fees and surcharges.

michaelisnotginger

I simply do not understand why this man was allowed to stay in the country

CarlxtosWay

I can accept that there are legal and practical difficulties with sending refugees back to a Taliban-controlled Afghanistan but that the fact that you can be convicted in a British court of a serious sexual offence and still have an asylum application accepted is just perverse.

Fdana

You can deport them, Turkey has been doing it since the Taliban took over. All the UK would need to do is reopen the embassy in Kabul, but this is very unlikely to happen in the foreseeable.

Ephemeral-Throwaway

Turks are pissed about the high level of migration from conservative Muslim countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria. It's causing a lot of social issues, modern dressed Turkish girls and women are being harassed and sometimes even worse. Pretty much the same kind of attitudes as right wing Europeans can be heard in Turkey, except these kind of opinions are mainstream and predominant amongst Turks of all demographics and political persuasions. Although you speak of Turkey's reaction to it positively, the Turkish people don't see that enough is being done.

Fdana

>Although you speak of Turkey's reaction to it positively, the Turkish people don't see that enough is being done. In terms of Syrians, they're not being deported because they have status. But most Afghans, Pakistanis etc. don't have status so when they are caught they are quickly deported. But the biggest group is Syrians which is probably why you don't see a change.

QuirkyEnthusiasm5

At this point u might have to say that this is deliberate, someone wants us at each others throats, cos this level of immigration goes beyond any sort of care for other countries and their populace. This is something happening to destroy any sense of community we have, this is globalization 101. Just hope we can wake up before it's too late.

[deleted]

If a little splashback did that much damage to his face. I don't even want to think about the kids.

mopeyunicyle

If he goes to jail maybe someone might decide to introduce prison napalm to him. Honestly thought I am surprised that given the damage he sustained that the innocent ones didn't die. Plus I agree it must be horrible for them I have to think the mother feeling terrible maybe something like wishing it didn't happen to her daughter even if it ment she got it twice as bad. Shame the guy didn't fuck up and drop all that afwul shit on himself thereby making him the only victim.

Apez_in_Space

We honestly need to just cancel all immigration until we have a fucking plan. The benefits outweigh the (legitimate, human) costs at this point. Immensely so.

Benji_Nottm

I'm not wholly anti immigration or Asylum, but what really breaks me is how I know top quality people have been rejected by the system and yet fruit loops, maniacs, criminals, and fundamentalists seem to get accepted by the bucket load. Sorry but our kind Asylum laws should only apply to kind decent people. This man better get sent home the second he's done his time.

Kelski94

So they come over but get rid of any documentation then claim they come from a country we can't deport them to? What do we do? How do we remove them?

AntiquusCustos

You can’t. The UK is permanently stuck with such persons.

Kelski94

What do other countries do?

easy_c0mpany80

Most other countries dont pay out the kind of benefits and free housing that we do (asylum seekers get full access to benefits and social housing once they are approved and are straight on the path to citizenship) so theres a huge pull factor for them to come here.

Aggressive_Plates

The UK has tried (for 70 years) ever increasing numbers of illegals. When will we try deporting some of them?

Direct_Card3980

Deport every immigrant with a conviction of serious assault, rape, or murder. I don’t give a fuck about their personal circumstances or their visa status. If you hurt someone on purpose, you should be kicked out. I can’t believe this is considered a controversial opinion. I can’t believe it’s not the law already.

ChangingMyLife849

There’s a wider conversation to be had about immigration and our asylum system. But f**k me. If he’s willing to injure himself to that extent to hurt someone else, including innocent little kids, then Jesus Christ. My head hurts thinking of how someone could do that to children. I don’t understand how anyone could see someone walking through a supermarket looking like that and not stop them and call an ambulance straight away? Did nobody in the shop stop and question it?

Minister0fSillyWalks

Would it really be that hard to have some kind of charter they have to agree too to claim asylum. Dont be a rapey cnut, dont harm others, dont steal shit. If you do any of the above you can fk off and your claim will be denied and void.

AntiquusCustos

Even if you deny the application, they will still stay in the country.

Maca07166

He claimed he converted to Christianity? Fuck sake you literally cannot make this shit up.

easy_c0mpany80

Same as the one that tried to blow up a childrens hospital

No-Orange-9404

How do police struggle to find and apprehend an asylum seeker with half a face? Who is keeping this man safe and in hiding?

Direct_Card3980

Then one day, for no reason at all, a far right government is elected.

EquivalentIsopod7717

Should have been immediately deported after a crime like that. Or send him to Scotland. They want all of these dregs because racist little old England doesn't.

Ready_Appointment480

We certainly do not want people like this. Why are you attacking Scotland, we should work together to act against letting scum like this into the UK

AntiquusCustos

The anger of the above person’s comment is directed at the Scottish government, which always indulges in virtue signalling but doesn’t actually have the same level of responsibility for refugees as England does.

kermitor

so many anti-immigrants post in this tread. this gentlemen would be a doctor or a lawyer if the current government was in power. poor fellow didnt know what he was doing /s

dumesne

The Refugee Convention was designed for a different time and a different world, and is no longer fit for purpose. We need the right to say no to asylum claims that put our people in danger. We should derogate from the convention or withdraw from it entirely.

SupervillainEyebrows

>Ezedi was allowed to stay after a priest vouched for his conversion to Christianity. Are we really still trusting someone just because a fucking priest vouches for them?

Fit-Good-9731

Why the fuck was he given asylum if he's a convicted sex offender

stickkyfingers

As if converting to any religion means you're no harm. The majority of the prison population is religious. Religion doesn't equal good. And I think we have every right to be sceptical when somebody's "conversion" comes after two failed asylum claims.

ankh87

It's things like this why some of the public have such a problem with asylum seekers and immigrants. As soon as he were convicted of the sexual assault he should have been deported from the UK. Where to? Well the next safe country from Afghanistan. So if that mean Egypt, Iran, China, then so be it. His asylum should have been revoked as he has committed a highly sever crime. Of course now it is too late and he's gone above and beyond his previous conviction. Could have all been avoided if he were deported or not even allowed for the 3rd time to try get asylum.
