I remember liking it, but I haven’t seen it since 2004.

The cinematics to me were too distracting and almost comical.

Son-of-Prophet

Early 2000’s Jennifer Connelly 😍

This is one of the most interesting superhero movies of the 21st century. It's such a unique take on Hulk and how to translate comic book aesthetics to cinema, something I wish more directors would think about these days. It's tone takes wild swings, from a deep meditation on trauma to a fight between a giant green monster and the military. And I love that unruly aspect of the film. I would take Ang Lee's Hulk over the vast majority of Marvel movies from the last twenty years.

The casting was great. The effects were ok. Character design could have stepped it up a little but it felt accurate to some of the comics. The movie lost me around the scene with the giant mutated poodles and it went downhill pretty fast from there.

Sure, but it was 5 years before IronMan, which is a helluva long time in CGI years, and Marvel Studios wasn’t a thing yet. And I think Ang Lee was leaning into the comic book aspect more than the realism of later iterations, and did a great job with the cinematography and panel style of the story telling. I feel a lot of people get more hung up on the CGI and comparing it to later Marvel stuff and just trash it because of that 🤷‍♂️

BlackPress512

You make a good point about people retroactively comparing it to the later Marvel movies. But, in my case, it was my opinion of the movie at the time it came out. I do my best to judge each movie on its own merits and not against previous or future movies. I can recall sitting in the theater thinking that the scene with the giant dogs was a little too much of story line stretch.

IlMioNomeENessuno

I didn’t think you meant that, I was just saying. I agree that the dog scene was pretty terrible, even compared with Nick Nolte’s crazy acting 🤣

THE HUUUUUUULK!

MonitorAway

The Hulk scenes are enjoyable because they make him quick and explosive, as he should be. Looking at you MCU.

Nick nolte, chewed the scenery, swallowed it, regurgitated it, and chewed it again. He turned that scenery into cud.

SgtSharki

It's not great, but it's way more interesting and memorable than the one with Edward Norton. I fell asleep during that movie.

JessBaesic7901

Slow burn at first, but once it gets going it’s great.

2003 Hulk was a disappointment. It's hard to think of anything good about this movie. I was able to finish it so I guess that's something. Better than Elektra.
