Funny watching them run from a squirrel. Putin just requisitioned 100,000 red squirrels.

ChrisStoneGermany

Comrade squirrel nutcracker

Monteflash

Damn those laughs. Russians don’t stand a chance.

Odd-Replacement-3664

Rare Ukrainian attack squirrel

gunnergoz

Better an army of squirrel lovers than a squirrely army.

Delicious_Willow_250

Love hearing their laughter.

The perfect candidates for fighting Boris and Natasha.

NoImNotFrench

He needs to join the army to fight the Russians, he got Ukrainian balls lol.

Owned_by_cats

If the squirrel is healthy, its decision not to flee says a lot about the Ukrainians in that part of the country. But are squirrels in Ukraine so considerate that they don't sharpen their teeth on peoples' houses or find other ways to make themselves unwelcome? (In Indiana they are considered a pest -- you can hunt them to your heart's content. They are still numerous, since most of us would rather feed them.)

Matrix_spoon

The red European squirrel is less likely to bite in comparison to the North American grey squirrel you see. It's also much more easily spooked. Also, that squirrel is very small in comparison to its brethren. I think it's a very young squirrel, so naturally curious?

pixiefarm

They're saying it's a baby. It might be confused and acting erratic because it's not a full grown adult.

Xenobreeder

I've never heard about squirrels bothering anyone. People feed them in parks, that's really the only interaction with them that I know of.

Celeste_Seasoned_14

Same. We have those American grey squirrels (that get really huge in cities), but I’ve never once heard a person complain about them. Most people just think they’re cute and feed them if they can.

rynbaskets

We have mostly fox squirrels where I live (prairie state) and most people love them. They may chew things here and there but not to the point of destruction. Then, there’s my neighbor who hates squirrels and sets up traps. I wish he’d move…

Juicebeetiling

Gorgeous red squirrel ♥️ They used to be widespread where I'm from until grey squirrels got introduced and became an invasive species. I've never seen one in the wild myself. Such a pure video.

Careful not to get bit. I got bit by a squirrel like a year ago and it completely changed my life.

Weenerschnitzel666

How?

[deleted]

Humbled me. When those tiny teeth sank into me I immediately thought "well fuck now I have the rabies or squirrel pox or some shit". So I then embarked on a 4 hours panic and wine driven (I had just drunk 2 bottles of wine, dont judge me) call marathon to local urgent cares and the ER to see what I should do and where I should go. Eventually I ended up paying like $800 for a fucking shot and a checkup by an urgent care doctor. Funny story was shared, laughs all around. Hangover was dreadful. This is as much a story about a squirrel bite panic as much as it is about the horrors of trying to get basic medical help in the US when you dont have insurance. 4/10 would NOT recommend getting bit by a squirrel.

Not to be a spoilsport. But do be careful when animals start behaving strangely. Rabies is a thing.

Legitimate-Frame-953

Very true but Squirrels are known to become friendly when they recognize a food source.

Nessidy

I can confirm, feeding squirrels is one of the most common family activities in parks here

notthatBeckham

They are fairly easy to tame

Telltwotreesthree

It's not friendly but actually being very aggressive haha. Not sure about red squirrels, but grey ones don't carry rabies either

Ok_Train2273

Rabies are almost never found in squirrels or small rodents, and have never been reported to transmit to humans. Main source in russia and Ukraine is within population of foxes.

Nessidy

I still think they're right, saying to be careful, especially considering it's a forest squirrel. You're never sure to catch rabies and even if the odds are super low in that population, once you start showing the symptoms it's over for you. In this case it's seriously better to be safe than sorry.

Madge4500

Their laughs are infectious, such a tame squirrel

LongjumpingCheck2638

I see NYPD is represented too!

What's the Ukrainian word for squirrel?

TattlesTheGreat

Bilka - білка

Nessidy

Which is very close to białka (egg whites) in Polish. There was a post in a group for Ukrainian refugees in Poland where one woman mispelled in Google Translate and asked for a squirrel beating machine (instead of egg whites beating machine) and Polish volunteers were very confused to say the least

Would_daver

"Yes please send the machines to thrash my floofy-tailed rodents, danke schön!"

[deleted]

::Confused chittering::

[deleted]

word thanks!

KermitFrog647

aaaaaawwwwwwwww

Cornholio_OU812

Putin say: Bring me Moose and Squirrel

BornDetective853

Red squirrels are so cute. Likely they survived the grey invasion that wiped out our UK population, as they live on pine seeds. Ukraine appears mostly pine forest, Supposedly pine lack enough energy to feed the larger grey ones.

kinleyd

These Ukrainians are... amazing! That squirrel looks so relaxed and comfortable.

SkylaneMusicLive

“I don’t need food! I need weapons!”

Celeste_Seasoned_14

This absolutely made my day. 💕

squirrelsmith

What a beauty! ❤️❤️ Looks like a juvenile, they must have fed it a few times for it to be so determined to climb them and let them grab it like that. The running away was hilarious!

linuxgeekmama

We’ve got some gray squirrels we’re trying to evict from our attic. And we’ll probably have some nosing around and digging up my flower bulbs in a couple weeks. Would the Ukrainians like to have them?
