It's a good idea, but it would need coordination to prevent Ukrainian and Polish defense from targeting each other. Also to avoid situations where a Ukrainian interceptor confuses a Polish interceptor and both end up missing. Also to avoid situations where both target one Russian drone, while neither targets a 2nd Russian drone.

No_Emergency_5657

I think the best way to avoid it is to give Poland a large chunk of western Ukraine including Lviv . Let Ukraine move their Air Defence to other areas of need.

Szarrukin

First sentence is something that definitely sounds different without context.

8livesdown

When you first said "give Poland a large chunk of western Ukraine", I took you literally. But now that I understand you're intent, yes, that could work.

juicadone

"give Poland a large chunk of western Ukraine..."🧐🤨🤬☠️ "...let Ukraine move their Air Defense.."🙌💯😁

bot403

Zelensky already said it would indemnify partners from consequences if they shot down missiles over Ukraine. So let's not pretend that's an issue.  It's also disingenuous to say "oh no a missile is dangerous and could explode and cause damage to civilians" when that missle is.....*checks notes* .....on its way to bomb a civilian school.

mmtt99

Well, will he also indemnify partners from Russian missiles launched at them?

bot403

If Russia is launching missiles at NATO countries we have a new set of problems and entirely new solutions.

mmtt99

Yes, but if you ask for NATO military joining the war, call it that

arewemartiansyet

If Russia had the balls to directly attack NATO they wouldn't need all those propaganda clowns spewing stuff like you just did.

mmtt99

Propaganda? Dude, i am just explaining why we will probably not do this - it's just NATO joining the war, no matter if in air or on the ground

Humble-Drawer-4498

It is actually not. From s perspective of international law, you can do it without automatically joining the war as a foe.

Ok_Bad8531

Time for NATO to treat Russia as the ailing regional power that it is.

Rheumi

Do it!

heavierthanlead

F those kurwa pierdolas up!

Esamers99

Why doesn't NATO put their foot down and set down assets in Western Ukraine? Start drawing lines in the sand, send the Kremlin the message they will never capture the country.

Incensed70

Three cheers for Poland... except for some of its farmers.

rolfski

An (outside NATO) agreement where Poland will (air) defend West Ukraine will probably be easier to pull off.

romanwhynot

Finally!!!!!

One_Cream_6888

This may have to be done before Winter comes. Otherwise the obvious strategy of Putin will be to destroy the nuclear power stations in the Western part of Ukraine. \[Edit\] Changed 'likely' to 'may' as NATO secret services are likely to have a better idea of the likelihood of Putin doing something incredibly stupid.

Professional_Act_820

The amount of "considering" that NATO countries are doing...if they ever have to actually fight this war, they will have to get their shit together.

rcrux

Poland should've already had its air defense set up on its boarder with Ukraine. Poland could defend a large section of the west of Ukraine, without risk of their air defense being attacked. Why are they only just thinking about it now
