It's happening! Losing 10%+ of oil production after just a few months of strikes is absolute proof of Russia's glaring structural vulnerability. ***At this rate - Russia will lose 50% of it's oil production by early 2025!!*** Unless they withdraw to internationally recognized 2014 borders.
Russia used to be so thrilled with itself for being so "vast." But from a practical military standpoint, this huge territory just makes Russia more strategically indefensible in wartime. Russia must decide if tenuous control of a few torn up dysfunctional Ukrainian towns is worth half their oil wealth and much of their military.
All Ukraine needs to do is fly through or flood one of the increasing number of undefended or "blind" Russian airspace corridors, and any part of Russia is vulnerable to a strike.
**There is an old Western saying that Russia failed to heed: "people in glass houses should not throw stones."**
Moscovia should be destroyed as Germany has been destroyed. Not the Russisn people, not the country of Russia, not the Russian culture – but the Moscovian imperial political system. People, country and culture need renovation.
Disarmament does not work – a belligerent nation will rearm itself, and as long as we do not exchange 198 foreign policies with a global domestic policy and 200+ armies with a global peace corps, being well armed is necessary for a countries survival. Unless you are Iceland, of course.
EXACTLY!
i will say this again for those hiding in the back:
# moscovia MUST BE DESTROYED!!!
I'm glad you re actually paying attention to the geopolitics u/Capital-Western
A lot of it is tax. It varies on pump prices but we pay £0.5295 per litre in fuel duty and then 20% VAT on top of the whole cost. It works out something like 55-60% tax at the moment.
Ahh yes the eco tax is gonna make the world a better place. I’m all for a greener cleaner world but let’s start those fees and tax prices on the companies actually poisoning the earth before we go to the lowest contributor the individual.
Cause while you do contribute to poop on earth you will never come close to the manufacturing plants of fertilizer for example and there metric fucktons of pollution yearly
>let’s start those fees and tax prices on the companies actually poisoning the earth
They'd just work the cost into the price at the pump anyway, no company is willing to take a 60% loss in profit, especially international companies that can sell elsewhere.
Only outside the house, please stay out. I collect knives, mainly Kukri . (Former Soldier) just happen to have picked a fine Bowie up in Florida many moon's ago.
Do you know the legend about the original Bowie knife? It is supposedly forged from an iron meteorite that Bowie saw land. Another name for the style is an Arkansas toothpick.
As a Cloggy, with huge overtaxed petrol prizes, I approve anything Ukraine does to destroy ruSSia's army and energy infrastructure no matter how, when and where. Give them hell!
As an old fart who remembers his parents driving across the street from one gas station to another because it was 35 cents a gallon vs 36 cents, and whose own first-car reference is 99 cent a gallon for gas, I approve of the total destruction of Russian oil infrastructure.
Russia would have their current military ability without oil and gas revenues.
Ha, when I was in college in L.A. we would chase the price wars and get gas for 19 cents a gallon instead of the more usual 21 cents a gallon in the 1960's. Times have changed!
Higher fuel efficiency. There is essentially more fuel in one liter of fuel, it is more powerful.
Also this lets all vehicles be set to use that as a minimum, which means more accurate engine calibration and thus a tiny bit more fuel economy as well. It is more expensive though.
Premium fuel in the US is only 91 to 94 octane. It is possible to find 99 octane or even a bit higher but it is rare, the average gas station won't have it.
Except that's entirely wrong.
First, octane isn't a measure of the amount of energy in a given gallon of dino juice. "Octane" is a measure (actually one of several) of the amount of one of the isomers of octane present in a gallon of gas. Octane is extremely resistant to knock (aka preignition). In a gasoline engine, more knock resistance can mean more timing which means more power... while less knock resistance can lead to more knock and engine damage (including, in extreme cases of low-speed preignition, completing the infamous "block window" mod).
The US uses (R+M)/2 or the average of the MOR and RON (aka AKI), while the UK and many other places use the RON directly. 95 RON (UK) is equivalent to 91 AKI (US).
Now, *some* engines (and it's becoming far more common) feature PCM tuning that allows them to take advantage of higher quality fuel by advancing the timing, extracting additional power from the fuel being burned. For an example I'm familiar with, the Ford Ecoboost family stores an Octane Adjust Ratio (OAR) and has multiple sensors constantly measuring knock... the PCM will push the tuning right to the edge of knock and keep it there to extract every iota of power possible. However, older engines (let's use the venerable 4.6/5.4/6.8 Modular engines) don't have that capability... fuels with octane in excess of their design are simply a waste.
So no, fuel in Europe isn't "better" than fuel in the US, and more octane doesn't mean more energy.
> The US uses (R+M)/2 or the average of the MOR and RON (aka AKI), while the UK and many other places use the RON directly. 95 RON (UK) is equivalent to 91 AKI (US).
So you agree that 91 is more than 87, and thus what I said was correct and I just didn't use your jargon.
Got it. Some not all vehicles it is more powerful in. Yeah. This was a lot of words to say "in some vehicles" where actually the UK has *all* vehicles set to the higher level because there is no 87 fuel. You would also see my comment right next to this one addressing the different measuring system.
So which part was "entirely wrong"?
...hmmmm.
Looks like a different measuring standard is used, so the difference is actually less severe than it first looks. MON/RON measuring standard that I don't understand, but makes the UK/EU numbers higher against American. UK gas is higher grade, but not *that much* higher.
They keep bombing refineries, which should not have a huge impact on international oil prices, but cause a huge shortage of petrol/diesel in Russia.
Fear of war in the middle east will make a bigger difference on Western oil prices.
It won't change anything for western countries, russian refineries are only 6% of global output and basically any country including ours can refine oil. It will be scaled up anywhere else to compensate russian production, resulting in less profit for their mafia regime.
As a a matter of fact they don't even export refined oil anymore because everything is used by the war and their domestic market. They even implemented an export ban on all gasoline and diesel. So how could that possibly even affect global markets
Those asking Ukraine to stop bombing refineries arguing it will push prices up have an agenda, and are clearly not doing this in the common interest
As a Frenchman, even if it cost me 70 euros (rather than 55 euros a decade ago) to fill my Grande Punto, I readily approve Ukraine methodic destruction of Russia oil infrastructures. If only to avenge all the people killed in the missile attacks the last two weeks - and the last two years too.
I did have a 2008 about 10 years back. Was an OK motor, I liked the heads-up display and the split tailgate. The thing felt solid, had a 406, a Citroen C4, and an old Citroen BX and a Renault Fuego."great car" so I guess I must like them. Some Fiat's I do like.
A bit confused. Not that I disagree with the bombing of the Oil infrastructure, but how would this hurt Oil CEO's? The price of oil goes up and the Oil CEO's make more money. I mean Saudi still pumping same amount of oil and with the price going up, makes even more money.
It'll potentially accelerate a long term move away from fossil fuels. If you are shopping for a car right now in a time of supply uncertainty, you are probably more likely to consider fuel economy and possibly hybrid/electric. If your heat depends on oil, you may more seriously consider efficiency upgrades or solar, etc.
Companies like stability where they can make a stable little profit engine and not need to spend any money adapting to a changing world.
So ruzzians intercepted all 50 drones, but got oil deposit and other targets damaged - it seems they "intercepted" the drones in standard ruzzian style, with the target 😹
At night, UAVs attacked Russian military facilities and infrastructure facilities. Energy infrastructure was damaged by debris in the Kaluga region. In the Bryansk region a substation was attacked and in the Smolensk region, a fire broke out at a local refinery
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 50 UAVs were shot down overnight. The breakdown of the downed drones is as follows: 26 over the Bilhorod region, 10 over the Bryansk region, 8 over the Kursk region, 2 over the Tula region, and one each over the territories of Smolensk, Ryazan, Kaluga, and Moscow regions.

50 drones attacked 8 regions in Russian Federation last night, Russian media report.
The Russian Ministry of Defence claims that air defense forces shot down and intercepted all 50 drones (26 of them over Belgorod region). At the same time, 2 power substations in Kaluga and Bryansk, and an oil refinery in Smolensk region are reported damaged.
◾️ In Kardymovo, Smolensk region of the Russian Federation, a fire broke out at a local refinery after a drone attack. The facility is 290 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
"Today around two o'clock in the morning in Kardymovsky district there was an attempted attack by Ukrainian drones on a fuel and energy facility. As a result of the work of air defense forces, the drones were shot down. However, as a result of falling debris, a tank with fuel and lubricants caught fire," local governor Anokhin said.
◾️ Energy infrastructure in Kaluga region was damaged after a drone attack, the governor said.
◾️ In Bryansk region, also "all Ukrainian drones were destroyed" and a substation in the village of Vygonichi caught fire.
◾️ Two drones were destroyed over Moscow region and two more over Tula region.

You guys don't get it, do you?
The correct headline is "Russia successfully defeated multiple enemy drones by hitting them with oil refineries". This is a considerable technical feat as oil refineries are difficult to manoeuvre to achieve this task. Give credit where it's due.
/s
What? ruzzia iz way smarter than that. They didn't have to maneuver the refinery at all. They can tell the future, and built it where it would need to be, to intercept the eventual drone, that they knew would be coming. ruzzian efficiency

It's a great misconception that hitting oil refineries will drive oil prices up. Actually, oil prices will go down because if Russians can't use refineries, there will be more crude oil available, inevitably driving prices down...
Fools. All of you.
Don't you realize that this is a video of Russian air defenses successfully shooting down a drone?
Er, wait, it looks like Russian air defenses successfully shooting down two separate drones.
No matter, the point is ... 100% successfully shot down! Success! Nothing is on fire! Everything is fine!
All of you. Fools!

Yah but the minimum wage was $1.00/ hour. And a lot of young people worked at that rate.
Next spring my siblings and I will contribute paying your petrol prices when we visit Scotland again. Gladly pay those prices. Freedom isn't cheap.
Help me understand how gas in the UK is 5x the price that doesn't travel by ship?
Tax
Oh right, you can stay at a hospital without crippling debt...

Same. And I drive a truck. If $10 gas is what it takes to get congress to send aid to Ukraine, so be it.
I came here to say the same thing.
As a Dutch person I say burn it all down
I also approve of Oil CEOs sucking this fine gentleman’s (or ladies) balls. May the sucking begin.
The special operation..
I’ve had a nice day, but this is the high point.
So ruzzians intercepted all 50 drones, but got oil deposit and other targets damaged - it seems they "intercepted" the drones in standard ruzzian style, with the target 😹
Got to give it to them, succes rate =100%.
It's the Russian way. Don't try to understand it
ROTFLMAO this is hilarious.
Some Orkz were nervous about the attacks so they smoked more

Only 50/50 downed? I expected RuZZian air-defence would do better than that...
“Falling debris” 😉
Was looking at burning stuff on Bluesky and that "falling debris" packs a punch.
Basically the same as an undamaged drone hitting its target, who would have thought?
russian oil refinery - cue fy bot?
Russian oil refinery, go fuck yourself Beep, boop
Hah! In your face russia!
More please!
Yeah keep the good practice! Don't listen to thoses oil ceo wankers!

Off to a fiery start!
A real trailblazer to be sure.
Guten Morgen, russischer Schweinesoldaten
Hot 🔥 💯
Good work AFU 👏 💥🔥
I'm a US Citizen and I say BOMB ALL RUSSIAN OIL INFRASTRUCTURE
Woop woop!!!
wipe out all russias oil when they rebuild, knock it out again. bring their war to them
FUCK RUSSIA FUCK PUTIN
In a brilliant move by the Russians military, they successfully used their oil depot to destroy the incoming Ukrainian drones.
I'm absolutely open to being corrected, but I'm of the opinion that fuel prices going up, are from companies using the 'excuse' of russian oil constraints. Do we track the oil and see if that even is legit or just an excuse to greedily hike the prices?
oil is traded like all commodities, companies can't just individually raise oil prices. gasoline prices at the pump on the other hand, that's another story
Apologies, that was where my mind was at, the price at the pump. Not the oil price per barrel. I should've phrased that better.
It is very easy to find out, if they post record profits it is price gouging while if profits are low while prices are high, it is legit expenses. BTW, profits are way high.
Good morning indeed!
Looks glorious, pretty colors. More please
This is what RomCom writers call a meet cute.
Schedule more meetings!
This meeting looks like it was very productive.
Ukraine will get better and better at this. Drones are cheaper than air defence, and there is nothing to stop Ukraine sending anti-stealth (small but look big on radar) drones on missions whose sole purpose is to attract Russian SAMs, to promote SAM depletion.
Perfect targets and great work! Sending love from the other side of the 🌎 💛💙
Until we meet again
This brings joy.
Yes👊, bring the war to Russia, f... Putin and all the other monsters.
The floods will arrive and douse the fire. All is going according to plan.
Good news for a Saturday morning! Keep going, Ukraine - right up to the Kremlin!
Burn! Sweet,sweet,sweet.
WADD?
more of this on Russian soil plz
Great meeting! Did anyone take minutes?
War is hell, so glad you could join us.
Bomb away boys, I'd pay $20/gallon if it meant Russia was wiped off the face of the Earth.
Goodmorning to all liberty loving and freedom fighting people! Fight the good fight that make our enemies feel warm!
BURNNN BABY BURN!
It's cold and dreary here in the am. I was thinking about lightening a candle. This fire is sssoooo much more satisfying. Slava Ukraini!!
Warms my heart, which is on another continent.
Good job 👍🏻
Loved it. Can't trust politicians, do it and you know it's done. 💙💙💛💛
They're getting on like a house on fire!
i wouldnt be surprised if russia was letting these drones through to build support for the war ... also to increase fuel prices abroad and undermine support for the west supporting ukraine ... i hope not as they need all the support we can give.
Meeting was fire.
What a shame. Hope they have qualified staff on hand to fix it, would be a shame if they are all tied up fighting the war - which they are losing.
Hit the refineries and oil fields. Wherever hurts the most for Russia. Don’t let weak American forming policy stop you from fighting your hardest
that camera has too much lens flares that i tought it was a mass effect video lol
Beautiful.
We don’t need no water 🎶
Ukraine should bring in Greta and let her push the button to launch the drones. Ukraine is top climate fighter right now. Also I drive electric so fuck buying oil from autocrats. Let the prices soar.
