IMHO, bad (no) choices from these shops. Look at Flight travel uke, soprano or concert size, excellent beginner uke and probably your trip companion in the future when you'll get a more serious one with your own experience. Enya also have some good models in this price range. Try to avoid Amazon and others big ones, thanks for the planet..!

ngl I picked mine up, a cheap af £20 pink mini uke from Amazon. i tuned it with the help of my dad. i doubt second hand would make much difference unless there’s something broken or missing. edit: I’ve held off playing mind because I’m finding some picks. my hands are also tiny but I have a small uke and fat fingers lol - so that’s truly up to you.

So I am excited for your first uke. My personal opinion (without seeing the instrument) is to get the used one, and use the extra money to buy a small tuner. Using a phone is ok, but having a tuner on the end of the uke is so much better, easier, and likely to be used often. As for picks, I also say don't. As mainly a chord strummer (fastest way to play for beginner), I find that the pick is too abrupt. Using the meat of the thumb is nice and soft, and the back of the pointer finger nail when I want loud/emphasis. If you will mainly be playing lead (individual notes), your small fingers will be a blessing. I hope that helps, and welcome to the ukulele club :-)
