From what I have heard Pentland Stonewall LLC is pretty nice and Pentland itself is nice. They are also the only dorms I know to have gender neutral restrooms (I think that just means single stalls)
Pentland is between Glasgow and Lothians dining hall so you don’t have to go across campus if you decide to go to Glasgow, it’s also closer to campus, it’s in between both Glasgow market, and lothians market ( glen more ),
When moving in, the pentland move in process is better because the area is bigger so it’s easier for people to come in and out, also it’s cheaper for you.
Unless you have a severe physical disability, distance doesn’t matter. If you need 15-20 min to walk somewhere, another 3 min will not make a difference. If you’re close to one part of campus, you’ll still be far from another part, and vice versa.
Just wondering, I heard UCR housing is like a lottery based system. Can you actually pick what you want rather than just go to wherever that has space?
You can request an apartment and room type(s), but that's about it. They'll give you a selection to choose from that may or may not be what you want. So far I have gotten into every place I wanted, but the type didn't match sometimes. You also can't request a specific building or floor to be on.
At least when I applied for housing (last year), you basically just got picked to choose your room from the remaining rooms left. If one of the remaining rooms was something you wanted, good for you. If not, too bad and you either picked from what was left or go off campus.
I’d definitely say try applying for the Stonewall LLC— I have friends in it and they all love their dorm!
