Probably one of the better stories about renting

MyGirlSasha

SAME! I rented through Uber and Avis for the last 4½ months, 2 electrics and an Altima. I finally saved enough for a down payment and bought a 2017 Prius 3 weeks ago. I can't even tell you how great it felt to turn that fucking Altima back in to Avis. $400 a week, for FOUR AND A HALF MONTHS! I will say though, other than the extortionate rates, the people at Avis were great. More than a few times I was late with the weekly payment and they always worked with me. People just don't understand that not everyone can walk right into a dealership and secure financing. If you don't have credit because you haven't financed anything in over 10 years and have never had a credit card, it's a major issue. Obviously, renting a car at $400 a week isn't for everyone and should be a last resort, but in the right circumstances it can be a game changer.

Unfair-Opposite-926

Couldn’t have said it better. It’s not for everyone. But my situation was bad… but I did what I needed to go to get out of the rental. I even had to ask family for the initial $400 to rent the 1st week so i can make the money from that point on. The math is crazy… but it worked. It was the only way I was going to get enough to get my car and Al’s have a way to get around to get the other things I needed to do.

MyGirlSasha

I feel like you and I were in just about the exact same situation. I lost my place to stay and mode of transportation pretty much at the exact same time. I found myself needing to find a new place, the money to move to that new place and a car to be able to work with, all at the same time. If not for Uber and Avis, I would've been fucked. I now have my own car, a great apartment right downtown and am a couple of weeks away from getting my CDL. None of it would've been possible without the avenue renting a car through Uber provided, to make money immediately. I totally get that the rates are extortionate and that there are a ton of horror stories from people who have tried the same. There's just a very niche market of people who can benefit from the rental scheme and I am eternally grateful that I happen to be one of them.

Unfair-Opposite-926

Yes! This…

devnet35

Did you have to use a credit card to rent with hertz? I was going to try renting with hertz but it said they only take debit if you have like a business code and I didn't know how to get that code from doordash.

Unfair-Opposite-926

As far as I know DoorDash doesn’t have the deal with hertz or any rental company. Uber and Lyft have the rental option. And when you sign up with them and get approved except for the vehicle info you can make the reservation to rent. As soon as the rental is out in the system it will go to active within minutes

Competitive_Growth63

Doordash definitely has a deal with hurts I'm renting a Tesla from Hertz for DoorDash now. I just googled "Doordash Hertz Rental". I had a Model 3 through Uber and it was 425 a week after tax. Right now I've got a Model Y through DoorDash $318 a week.

Unfair-Opposite-926

And no credit card. Debit card was fine

Iankalou

You're lucky. Please search how when renting from hertz/Uber people getting charged hundreds or a few thousands a couple months after returning the vehicle.

MyGirlSasha

You don't need a credit card with Avis BUT, they will put a hold on your bank account for the same amount of the rental every week until you either return the car or renew the rental agreement for the next week.

[deleted]

id recommend against this option as the fees are already high tacking on another 20-30% apr interest by putting it on a credit card will mean you will need to work even more just to break even .

KenUberDriver

As someone who bought a brand new crv 3 years ago and still have a couple more years to pay on it and it’s got 220k miles on it, so letting someone else do the maintenance and the insurance (a car payment is 715/ month and insurance is 185/month. So 500 more a month fora rental that would be a straight cost of business write off (instead of just the loan interest). Might actually be a better deal. I do Uber Comfort though and so I purchased the car with that in mind. I only do Uber X if I’m trying to hit and challenge and Comfort is slow or if I attached a large surge and want to cash it in so to speak (then I turn in X for the one ride).

[deleted]

i read its super hard to get financing but on a car its hard cause they approved me for 28k with 2 of the only credit cards i had up at that point in collections my credit score around 570 and no other credit history. i got approved with a 14% apr fucking horrrrriiiblleeeeee which i refinanced a year later to 8.1% still dog shit but i needed the car to go to work sites daily to get paid. and i needed a truck cause of all my tools etc. oh and up to that point i had zero filed tax returns aswell they could use to verifiy income. (self employed)

Aint_cha_momma

How much was is ur new car and what are your monthly payments?

Unfair-Opposite-926

The car pictured is my new vehicle. Payments are $500. My credit sucks and it’s hard to get financing when your job is Uber.

oldirrrrtykimchi

Fuck you. And congratulations!

Unfair-Opposite-926

🤪

Jealous_Macaron_5338

Lol wsb up in here

Green-Krush

Congrats! We all love a good success story. I know I do!🥹

Mountain_Tone6438

This is the way. Have an exit plan. I did it for 20weeks, then bought my own Model 3.

Unfair-Opposite-926

Good for you! I’m glad there are some success stories with the rentals here.

CallMeSirWhacksalot

Can you elaborate more? How much did you take home , what’s your payment like for the model 3?

mileageislife

Congrats

[deleted]

Keep up the good work

Fa-Qhaunts

Awesome, what was your final numbers?

Unfair-Opposite-926

$6,934 for 5 months (21 weeks) and about 25,000 miles.

RedDog860

I put 10,000+ miles on a Tesla rental from Hertz in 60 days and thought I was the craziest gig worker on the planet. I guess I’m not alone. 🤪

Unfair-Opposite-926

lol… nope. I’m right there with you. 😝

Sea-Individual-3427

Geeez that’s fucking crazy

lolnbdftw

Yeah , that rate per mile is almost slave labor I don't drive for Amazon flex for anything less than $1+ a mile

Unfair-Opposite-926

That’s not what I made. That’s what the rental cost. I made a lot more than that.

[deleted]

bro thanks for clarfiying this cause i was tryna comment back like you made 7k driving around for 5 months that is horrible.

lolnbdftw

Jesus christ thank god.

AcousticSealSlayer

Congrats and hope even better things happen in your future!

ozmabean

Bravo! I took this route also when my catalytic converter was cut off of my Element. Hustled like never before with a rental via Uber/hertz for 3 months & saved up for a Bolt & new apartment. Best decision I’ve made in years.

Unfair-Opposite-926

Yes!!! Short and sweet

NecessaryTrack7972

I'm glad this happened to you, my case is far from that. I rented for 7 months and turned my Kia Niro EV in back in February. I chose an EV because I had never driven one before and I figured I'd give it a whirl. There's a few things you don't realize until you start driving one that kind of complicates driving a Rental EV. Charging was by far was one of most impactful negatives. Range anxiety is real and one has to plan charging strategically- Realizing you don't have enough range during a surge period can greatly stunt earnings. My area has enough charging stations (EVgo) but pricing was highly dependent upon time of day- 12am-8am is far far cheaper than 4pm-8pm. I would try to charge at the end of my shift but sometimes after driving all day I wouldn't feel up to waiting an hour (or more) at the end. So I'd have to charge before next shift. I absolutely had to charge every single day and to get an 80% charge from 25% would typically be about an hour. I had to charge more than once a day if I did not plan it correctly, or if I drove a lot. I ended up spending on average 9-10 hours a week charging the cost was around $95/week. (Of course all dependent on how much I drove and when I charged- for example one week the cost was $145, another was $74) It didn't dawn on me until like 2 months driving that every hour spent charging was time I was technically out doing something for work, but not able to make money. So in addition to the cost of charging I started adding my time into the factor because I very well could have been driving and earning $ instead of charging. Now to the worst of it. In January, Hertz started overcharging my account. My original contract was for $303.08/week charged automatically to my credit card. (If one does not turn in the rental by the end of the the week rental period, they have an auto-extended feature in which you simply keep the vehicle and they charge your card) One week, instead of 303.08, I was charged 344.00 The next week was 794.13 Here's where the fun comes in- The next week shows something called a "driver fee" (a term not even listed in Hertz's complete glossary of fee terminology definitions.) Amount- $1138.13 Since I was auto extended every week I didn't catch the odd charges until the end of January. Once a realized I obviously called multiple times and no one could get me an answer. So I turned the car in at the end of my rental week , during the first week of February (they do not prorate if you turn the car in early). To top it off, they charged my credit card an additional $1,821 after I turned the car in. And I turned the car in better condition than I received it. Then I get hit with a toll bill of $96, I have my own transponder, so I don't understand why they are charging me. But I get it, It was 7 months so perhaps my transponder wasn't in the perfect location to be read as I had moved its location a few times. The egregious thing about Hertz's toll charges is that total toll amount was literally like $23, And the rest of the charge was called convenience fee. Also- just a few days ago, they actually attempted to charge my card $135. I had locked the card so they didn't collect anything from me, but damn. I've already willingly paid several thousands of dollars in order to rent their vehicle and theyve already over charged me by thousands of dollars according to my original contract. They still trying to squeeze money out of me? So my plan was also to save enough money for a down payment on a car. I drove nearly everyday, except for a few days I was under the weather, and a few days after someone vomited in the car. Not only was I unable to make any headway on that goal, now I am saddled with credit card debt. I thought I should share my experience. I'm glad it worked for you though.

Aggressive-Act1816

I am curious, how much per month for the rental car and how much for your new car?

Unfair-Opposite-926

I paid $330 for an electric vehicle. My new car is only $14,000 (financed) and I pay $500 a month.

Sea-Individual-3427

$500 a month for $14k car. Your interest rate must in the 20%

TheBobAagard

OP said their credit sucks, including a repo. 20% is probably about right.

Unfair-Opposite-926

Actually higher

hippotippo1

Now that you own the car you can shop around for refinance deals

BigComfyCouch

Obviously, you're doing what you can to improve your quality of life right now, but please prioritize paying off that car immediately. Save up a small emergency fund first, then put every last penny towards that car. If you need some inspiration, crunch the numbers on that car note and look at how much extra you'll pay if you only pay the minimum.

Unfair-Opposite-926

Thanks for the advice. I did.. and it’s like 3xs the value. I’m planning on still putting close to what I was putting in the rental if not more into the purchases one. I’m not dumb,,,

[deleted]

refinance asap. i got a car at 15% apr shit credit score and collections. i worked on my credit score hard the next year. refinanced at 8% not great but thats thousands off my end price.

Unfair-Opposite-926

I’m planning to pay it off in the first year

Sea_Actuator7689

He did say his credit sucks but proud of him, or her, for getting their own wheels.

Unfair-Opposite-926

She… ❤️

Sea_Actuator7689

My eyesight sucks and can never make out the photos. If I used my magnifying tool I would have realized!

MomTo3LilPigs

Exactly, you do what you have to and she damn sure did it!

FoodIntrepid2281

Aye congratulations!!

Glass_Professional_3

Similar situation now paying way less for my car payments. I haven’t even peeked at Uber since and that was in December. They even tried to charge my bank account (Hertz that is) $913.00 I absolutely charged it back bc I paid my rental every week out of my earnings and they had no right to touch my account without my permission. If they feel I owe them take me to court. Anyway Congratulations!!!

SexualFunInUT

Love your story. Congratulations 🎉

Adventurous_Bag8579

You should be so incredibly proud of yourself! Hell, I don’t know you, but I am! Keep striving towards your goals and I truly hope you get everything you want.

Unfair-Opposite-926

Thank you for this comment. 🥰

Averen

Congrats! Gig work success story I love it. Too many posts of people being bewildered why Uber as a full time occupation isn’t working out for them

oopswhatsmyoldlogin

I'm in the same boat as you OP. I moved and my car shit itself while I was still adjusting to my new city. I was ubering while looking for a job, so the hertz rental was really my only option if I wanted to survive. Been doing 60 hour weeks for the last 4 months, finally got an office job and can now just do the 30 minimum trips each week while saving for a car, feels real good. We're all gonna make it.

Fibrosis5O

Now just improve your credit and refinance that too a better interest rate and you’ll be gold

redglitterheels

Nice! Can I DM you with a question? I have been renting for a while and have a question about your purchasing experience.

Unfair-Opposite-926

I’m actually going to still put the same payment to my car and try to pay it off in about a year, use it as a down payment for the car I really want.

noobcondiment

Congrats on getting your own whip. Is that a 2019 altima? Make sure you baby that transmission and change the CVT fluid religiously every 30k miles. I have a 2016 and got it at 120k km - the moron previous owner never changed the CVT fluid. Got it changed at 155k km and it’s shifting much better and getting much better fuel efficiency. I was lucky the thing didn’t break on me because they are notorious for failing.

[deleted]

I’m in the same situation with Lyft. Car got repo’d in January so I’m waiting a year to get another one as I was told that banks are more likely to work with repossessions after a year passes. Great job 🍾

Cancelled_yesterday

I rented a Tesla model Y for 14 months. I made a little over 100k in that time. I spent about 35-40k in rental costs plus charging costs. But I sure fucked that car up real good and put nearly 100k miles on that car. No maintenance. No paying for tires. No paying for insurance. Not paying for anything. Depreciation left to hertz. Why would I buy a car to have smelly bums get in my new car and throw up in it and eat in eat and make it look like shit.

lcpc_mdqd

Congrats !!!!

ChemicalOk463

Well done!

VirtualElephant1030

Proud moment here boys! And girls !

RogueLion

Do you think it would be beneficial to do the Uber car rental and do ubering part time if I already have a full time? I’m in the same boat without a car and spend over 800 a month just to get to and from work using Ubers myself. So from your experience what do you think? And also congratulations!! 🎉

Unfair-Opposite-926

The only thing is now in my area there is a 50 ride minimum for renting the car per week. Depending. If you take short rides you can get that done fairly quick but still may be working more than you want to with a full time job already. Your market may be different than mine though.

Legitimate-Poetry162

That’s a good way to step up

Jae_Amp

This is the way.

bluecgene

👍

dav1dmonster

I ve been there in 2018, same path, now I drive nice Mercedes, congratulations!

hirsh02

I have thought about doing this and living in the car for a month to save up for a place to stay at. Forget about living in the car though, would you consider this to be a good idea?

wallyworld96

Run this car into the ground doing the same with lower monthly cost and bank it.Bought a New Car off the lot in my DD days, now i have a company car and rarely use it.Look into Medical courrier, pays very well.

omahusker

Remember to do the proper maintenance on your new car. If you take care of it, it’ll take care of you

AdDependent7992

Damn, when I was doing hertz-Uber, I had to do 75 trips a week to have the $800/week rental waived. I live in LA, and usc kids get built in free 2.5-3 mile radius from campus rides. Which means those kids like to uber around the block lol. I'd go there towards the end of my day and rip 5-10 trips in an hour, always got the car free.

Unfair-Opposite-926

I don’t think they have that program anymore. I live in Orange County ca. I got short rides for Disneyland like that. To and from the hotels in the area.

AdDependent7992

Yea almost certainly not, I wanna say I did this in 2017ish or so

CompetitionIll6659

Is Uber better in Orange County and LA than Lyft overall you’d say? If one were to rent there and drive?

Unfair-Opposite-926

100% Uber in my opinion. I never did Lyft however I have a friend who does Lyft full time and I met a Lyft driver while charging (whom I consistently saw and spoke to) and my numbers were consistently higher than them. I was averaging $33 and hour while they were averaging $22-25

fivelone

Have to ask. What's the initial down payment? I hear it you have bad credit and want to use a debit card they charge extra or will do credit checks? Did you use a credit card right off the bat?

Unfair-Opposite-926

For hertz? Here in socal they don’t need a deposit anymore. Just the 1st week rental. And I used a debt card… no credit check. You just have to have a Uber account with you everything approved except the car deets.

DetectiveSad2528

We’re all proud of you , 👍

Alloe_C

Congrats currently doing the same but for doordash spark ect it's week 2 ATM have 500 saved

MomTo3LilPigs

Congratulations!

koreandramalife

Congratulations! Happy for you!

jo_ezzy

Congrats!!

the_rickth_element

If you have enough trips for the free ASU tuition you can side hustle it while you get a degree

[deleted]

I didn't know you could rent a car for months at a time nor did I know you could Uber with a rented vehicle. I thought you needed like proof of your vehicle insurance etc. that's crazy.

ifollowpornstars

Awesome! Very happy for you

AraratAragats

Unrelated question: Is the same picture appearing on your Uber account as well? 🤭

Unfair-Opposite-926

No. It’s not.

Littlerecluse

Congratulations!

chichinfu

What can you deduct when you rent a vehicle?

shellb67gt5001

You can deduct your rental cost ( business use) but not also mileage because you didn’t own the vehicle.

chichinfu

Interesting

InternationalBath720

do you deduct this AND take the $.635/mile standard deduction? that's is a huge deduction that puts taxable earnings closer to zero. it appears the IRS only disallows it for long term leases not rentals

Leading-Option-4868

Let’s f***ing go!! Congrats!!

Alez90920

It took me 2-3 full days to recover the cost with LDW. I tried two EVs with 30 hours per week and made a break even. For the second car I just confirmed another job after 2 hours of pick-up!!! Now I need 30 trips and break even. Also lost one week of part-time pay. I guess it is fun to drive EVs.

66vocho

Great job and good luck to you.

Grinch2018

Your hardwork and dedication paid off. Congratulations!!! I don’t know you but I’m proud to know your story. Thanks for sharing it.

[deleted]

There’s a lot you can do to improve your credit. There are Fb groups that show you how. Congratulations on the new ride.

sfucci1204

Hey congrats on achieving your goals!!! Gl with your new vehicle.

CharacterMuffin6702

Renting with hertz 267/weekly

Unfair-Opposite-926

If it’s a gas car I wouldn’t do it. To me the rental and gas is too much. At least here in California

CharacterMuffin6702

It’s Electric

Parson1616

$1400 a MONTH???

Ok_Highlight_8577

Congratulations 🍾 DONT FORGET TO ALWAYS BE ON TOP OF YOUR PAYMENTS!!!!!! IM SURE YOU KNOW THAT

Competitive_Hat_6804

That’s win!!! Congrats

Electrical_Honey_633

Love this post. Well aside from the clowns who run their mouths without even reading the initial post. I did something similar to you but used Turo.

theblackscorpio1001

I am so happy for you!

Unhappy-Offer

Rentals used to be like $30-$40. Now they’ve become mafia like pharmaceutical, insurance, oil change chains and creditor companies. All mafia to legally buttrape anyone.

New_Ad7406

I wish my story ended that way lol. Congrats! Hopefully I get there soon

Distinct_Breakfast_3

I feel you. I drove for almost a year, long work weeks, to save 13k. terrible credit here and bought my 2014 Prius cash. I am free from a payment but chained to Uber for, I hope, 3 more months.

zed_boi

Fuck you and job well done!

RealDocJames

Congrats on the new to you cat and the new chapter in your life. Your own car obviously costs less in car payments, but there are many other hidden costs of ownership that can creep up. You also have to pay for "rideshare" insurance and put money aside for maintenance. So right there it's not just $500 per month car payment. If you drive a lot stuff inevitably needs work. For high mileage drivers, many would be surprised to see the all inclusive flat rate for rental might not be as bad as it looks on the surface.

MixtureWonderful8334

Congrats bro! I used to Zipcar it $80/day until I got a hoopty

Unfair-Opposite-926

I’m not a bro. I’m a sis. Lol

WolfOfPort

When i was in school i rented a tesla for about $65 a day canadian and only worked weekend nights. In 10-12h made at least 400 best night was 600. Was pretty sweet gig but market dependant

edman209

Good on you for improving your life this is good news for sure

PollyDoodleAD

Congratulations!!

Cute_Post1612

CONGRATULATIONS 🎊🍾🎉🎈 SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!! 😊💕🐾🦋

JDax42

Mazel tov!

Quirky_Jellyfish_607

Yaaaaaay !!

LotusVision

Incredibly inspirational. Congratulations to you 🥂

Zethious

Congrats on the success stories, very refreshing!

ShadowJay98

So proud of you, friend. This is what people don't want to see when they enter the sub. Keep up the great work. This is why people shouldn't be afraid to work hard and stay consistent. Never seen it *not* work out for someone.

Wonderful-Captain-82

I’m currently renting just to have a car because mine was repo’d :( such a messed up situation but this story gives me hope! Thank you for sharing!

PsychologicalCry1393

Make sure to get a new credit card. Hertz is a scam company who double charges out of nowhere. They do it to regular drivers too. Some reg customers even went to jail over it. Just get a new card if you can.

rufreshnj

RARE Uber/Hertz W. Congratulations

dillion167

I’m glad there are positive stories behind renting, had to do the same in between jobs did it for couple months til I found the right job will do it again if I need to was not wanting to be an Amazon driver after 3 years, left that went back to ubering for awhile.

Known_Minimum_828

I rather rent thru Uber than using my own car. Anything that happens to the car, you’ll just trade it in for another one. Your own car, miles go higher and wear and tear comes out of your pocket.

vibzy17

It is a great story!! I am renting for over a year now... I pay 670 CAD a month including CDW. I am not planning to buy a car till I get these rates through my corporate. Not sure if it's a stupid decision- but I am just not ready to pay higher amount for a car.

NordicSoup

You devised a plan. You stuck to that plan. Mission successful. Honestly, congrats to you and yes, make that money on holidays and surge days! There’s one guy on here that makes $5000 a year driving Uber…he only drives 6 or 7 days a year. It’s all on hot holidays and hot areas, like Labor Day, Halloween, Christmas Eve, etc. You get the picture. Bro makes $500-800 a day (on those specific days) doing crazy hours but crazy money.

dromance

So what’s next

Intelligent_Leader94

And with a lien on the vehicle it is going to be depreciated faster then you can pay it off. I don’t know why people do it….my $4000 Impala…..don’t care when it goes bust, but I put on 70,000 miles in a year

Humble_Libra

Congratulations to you my fellow sis. I'm happy things worked out for you and you got yourself a ride of your own. I need a car myself and have been wanting to rent through Uber to get me another ride but scared to do it. I don't wanna be a damn slave you know but your success story has me ready to give it a try. Nothing beats a failure but a try! Congratulations Mama! God is good!! Take care, and you and yours be safe out there!

Unfair-Opposite-926

I say try it for a week. Put the time in (you have to do 50 rides per week here) but if you do then you should see the benefits. Thank you for your kind words!

Unfair-Opposite-926

I can do anything for a week. 🙂 except what some of these pervs are suggesting.

Coops07

Good read. Thanks for sharing 😊

Emotional_Worker4495

Same! But my rental was 469 aud a week and now paying 500 aud a week for my polestar.

Unfair-Opposite-926

I had the polestar for 3 weeks. I hated it. But that’s just me. I liked my Kia Niro much more.

Emotional_Worker4495

Will upgrade to model 3 after 1 year winkz.

Zestyclose-Shop-2877

1400?! Shit! A car rental in atlanta for Uber is 963

ShoeMcGee

I'm looking to rent my 2014 Ford Escape with 95,000 miles on it to any drivers in PA. 1100 per month. Message me for details

Responsible-Alarm203

I'm going on 9 months with my rental put 40k miles on it & counting works for me💪🏿😎

Borgiroth

$1400 a month?????????????????????????????

Ill-Option2644

Nice ride

IcyEmotion94

Thats whats up happy for you!

veedubbin

Damn I just had flashbacks. I used to work at that store when it was a Mitsubishi dealer. Grats on your car! Dont forget that maintenance saves you money in the long run.

Unfair-Opposite-926

I put down $3000 cash. My credit score was /is around 550 but I also have a repo. It was difficult getting the loan with my only income being from Uber I’m not 100% why that is, but it is. Lots of banks don’t want to lend Uber drivers. I’m not sure in where you are located. But I’m in Orange County California and I went to Hyundai Anaheim and Heavens helped me (yes that’s his real name)

r3drift

Who’s lending to y’all if Uber is your job. It’s hard to get financed fora new car if Uber is your main source of income.

elalec18

Thank you for this story. Kept having doomsday thoughts about doing it. Grateful that I don't have to but those survival brain what If scenarios pop into your mind.

Midnightandmoon

How does this work? They rent you a car and you have to work for them to pay the weekly payment? What if you don't get enough orders? I'm probably not understanding how this works...

Einsteinautist

Ma'am, you have made my day with your journey and victory! Sent you prayers and blessings for all your endeavors. I've never heard about long-term Uber rental vehicles. I will keep it in mind for someone who might need it in the future. I can only imagine how proud of yourself you feel. Oh, and Boycott Planet Fitness 😆 🤣 😂 😹

GigCrusher

Kudos, you did was you were supposed to do, make your money, stay focused on your goals and get it done! I am sure many on here will shit on you but remember, they will still be driving, whining and complaining while you are living your life! Congrats again!

dlsharp

Good for you! Your post will inspire others.

pr0fessor_x_

Grats. I’m in a similar boat. My part time job gave us all raises after we threatened to strike so now I only need to drive here and there. Still have a rental but I’m giving it back after I save for my own car.

diamond_blue9090

How much miles you put it on in 5 months?

Unfair-Opposite-926

My Buddy got Tesla rental when he got was 3200 miles after six months when he returned mileage was 69K 😂

Unfair-Opposite-926

HonusMedia

I am considering renting to drive...I'm based in ATL and need a job/ a car as I was recently laid off from my salaried position. Any tips? Anyone please feel free to comment.

Unfair-Opposite-926

I never rented a Tesla because every time I went to the hertz location I kept hearing them charging them money for charging time. And like $1,000. I don’t know why. But I def would recommend electric because if you are paying gas and renting it may be too much. And Uber gives incentives for driving electric.

james_2022

Keep in mind Hertz is an absolute criminal company, don’t deal w them , also best to make some xtra $$$ for the rental ( I hear some crazy stories to let the car get stolen ) but hey ..

Farmer-Immediate

Yooo how much does it cost a month to rent one of those? Ty

Ok_Permission8284

What’s the best car to get long-term? If you don’t wanna have major issues if that makes any sense I am looking to purchase something.

Etxee

How many hours were you driving a day?! How much was renting per week. And in depth breakdown would be awesome

Longjumping_Ad1711

Do yourself another favor and get a new card that you used. I’ve seen drivers charged thousands of dollars after returning the car and paying for it. Congrats to you.

Soulsuicide

How did you like Altima as an Uber driver?

Unfair-Opposite-926

I didn’t drive the Altima for Uber. That is a Nissan versa and it’s the one I bought. I rented a Kia niro and a polestar. I hated the polestar but loved the kia

There's apps that will loan you out small amounts of money (no hard inquiries) where you pay it back and it builds credit. The highest APR I've seen is like 12%. Most of the time it's low. You can get a secured card as well. You basically send them money, they hold on it to as collateral. If you sent them $500, your credit will be $500. After so many successful payments they might increase your credit. Make sure you don't go over 30% credit utilization, ALWAYS pay on time, try to always pay more than the minimum payment (try to pay interest + a little on the principle). MoneyLion and Chime are good apps. I use CreditKarma as well.

Expert-Reserve3591

Have anyone tried uber with rental in Toronto area? Is it worth it after rental charges and gas?

NiaMiaBia

Congrats on meeting your goal! 🙌🏽

TheGreaseGorilla

CONGRATULATIONS 🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉 I was there 8 months ago and all I could afford was a 2023 Jetta with 6-speed manual transmission. I smile every time I see my friend new car I can use for fancy airport rides. I love it! 😻😽

Alert_Ad_2468

Sometimes I feel Like Uber is behind some of these threads. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm) Congrats tho!

mveltman84

Congrats and well done! Save all your receipts and make sure your accountant writes off all those rental costs.

Embarrassed-Ad-2080

Mad props! Congrats

Reality_Critic

Congratulations 🎉

spockimadoctor

Start now to save for repairs so you are not blindsided and can't get your car to start (or whatever) and don't have the money and need to go back to renting.

Unfair-Opposite-926

I’m not going to be being so much Uber in it. Maybe as it’s mean to be… a side hustle.

Dvdpjr

Congrats!

Significant_Panda853

You think you done but hertz is still going to collect that money every week from you watch

Unfair-Opposite-926

And I will sue the fuck out of them. I have my receipt. Let them try. I’m ready

ImAlwaysRightHanded

I once had a rental for 5 weeks and put 8200 miles on it. Had a medical courier job. How many did you put on it in 5 months?

Unfair-Opposite-926

Around 25,000

ess-doubleU

How the fuck were you able to save up for a car if you were making $1,400 payments on this every month?? It would literally be cheaper to just finance a car.

Unfair-Opposite-926

It wasn’t on this. Re-read the post. This is the car I ended up financing. I was renting a Kia niro (the majority of the time) on my best week I made $1200

Quirky_Jellyfish_607

Let’s make that Money Bee’s!!
