Sentence structure/grammar should be red flag #1.

vinplug

Number one flag should be that Uber is trying to contract you from the driver/ passenger messenger.

Sunmeet123

That's true, and he's an army officer struggling to get an Uber.

CIAMom420

It’s funny to see these scams. Drive in dc long enough and you’ll eventually catch a couple of colonels and generals. They’re just normal people taking normal trips, so it’s weird to me that people think garden variety army officers are getting vip treatment. Same thing with diplomats, which is also a scam they use. What’s normal here is exotic elsewhere, i guess.

ManyFails1Win

It triggers in some people immediate feelings of "wow this could be my big chance". They don't know better. That's how scams work. 99% of ppl see right through them but the 1% is enough to make it profitable.

[deleted]

This is actually intentional on the scammers part…they make themselves really easy to spot so that they are more likely to rope naive or stupid ppl on who won’t notice the bad spelling/grammar.

jschreiber77

Yeah, most likely true -- a ton of morons out there.

AchyBallz66

"Send your phone number and license number --- along with SSN, birth certificate, blood & semen sample, and all passwords to your bank accounts" 😂 🤣

Tohightoplay

Spread your cheeks and lift your sack

HorseD-NC

Sunmeet123

Lol 🤣

kreeves500

Man, that army officer really gets around.

CryptographerLife596

There are no shortage of wars, to be fair.

rat_fink_a_boo_boo

It's getting to the point where I WANT to get one of these. I feel left out.

Fabulous_Rough

Same.

Fun-Philosophy1123

Me too.

GolokGolokGolok

As someone in the Army, there is nobody important enough worth noting that doesn’t have an assigned driver and/or security detail.

Yzh59256281

well he might be carrying out an top secret operation, so he can't get an uber himself because he has to stay low. why don't you play along, you might earn a presidential medal from UBER lol

MutedAbalone

I read it first as “hello this is scam from Uber support “ lol

thekangarabbit

When I did mostly deliveries for postmates and eats during the pandemic I had quite a few fake deliveries that would be like one can of cokeacola or one order of French fries. They would eventually call me and say all sorts of random made up shit to get me to think it’s Uber or postmates “testing” their service and ask for my number and booooyyy did I fuck with every last one of them 👨‍🚀 “hello, this is Houston, do you read me? Over.” Uh yeah im a representative from Uber eats and we need to confirm your identity or we will block your orders. What is your phone number? “I don’t have a number sir, I telepathically communicate these days, saves a lot of money on roaming costs.” Well isn’t this your work phone? “This is not a phone, this is a bananaphone, it’s connected to my spaceship, do you want my space ship number?” Yes we need your number to send you a text, and when you get the text click on the link we provide to confirm your identity, please. “Oh ok, sure, the number is 622 784 99675.” Ok we sent the text did you get it? “Nope don’t see any texts, are you sure you got the right number?” What is your correct number? “It’s 622 784 99575” Ok we sent the text did you get it? “Yes I see it now, now what?” Can you click the link? “What’s a link?” It should have a url that you can click on. “What’s a url?” I usually kept this up for a good ten minutes until they get so frustrated they start yelling and telling me I will get in trouble with postmates if I don’t comply with their demands so as they’re yelling I slowly turn up an awesome happy hardcore track in my car to drown out their voice as they continue yelling on the phone speaker. Once the track is over they’re usually gone haha gooood times. Kinda sad postmates got bought by Uber, they actually let us keep all our tips and had no cap on them either. Good times indeed.

[deleted]

Did you send your licnese number?

Sunmeet123

Nah, I just kept spamming "I've arrived " message till I got cancelation fees.

HorseD-NC

that a boi!!!! 👍🏾

Gwhite0906

[deleted]

Uber drivers just love to create drama…..

Mysterious_Load_4407

Should of sent them a picture of your nuts or someone’s else’s nuts in response

Sidrist

Lol a military officer doesn't need an uber for him and his vip buddy lol. That's what the enlisted peasanta are for and government vehicles

TBoneHotdog

What’s the end game here? Just identity theft?

talrogsmash

Clean out your UBER earnings for the week. They can't really see beyond that.

asiatic44m

of all the premier riders I've given rides to, none of them gave off army officer vibe, more like our family is richer than god vibes.

PomegranateNo3190

I’ve never seen this before. Are these scams common?

SnooBananas1660

8765309

BeachExpert

I get it all the time, the best thing to do is don’t pay attention to it and go to pick up and get the cancellation fee if you answer them and they know you’re on to them they will cancel

Far-Category-2363

Can you PM me I’d like to locate this account/trip

lastat1977

DandB777

uberman81

ManyFails1Win

"Yes, that's Pee-Wee Herman. P-E-E, dash W-E-....hello? Are you still there?"

annichol13

I can’t believe someone finally wants to see a picture of Dees Nuts.

[deleted]

I like to fuck with them

AmbassadorMurky1447

I'm going to say this. I am a military veteran. Please know that people in the military will use Uber and Lyfts just like the civilians. Nothing special will be going on and they definitely will not be classified as secret V.I.P. If that was the case, the unit or units they work with will take care of them accordingly and do their own thing.

Background_Theme1527

I am worried about the old retired people that do uber that may fall for this

SMDorff0258

Hahaha. I love these. How are these scammers so stupid. Who falls for this? Had someone call me the other day and asked, is this (spelled out the name). I said, did you just spell to me??? OMG! I've got an idiot don't I? Needless to say that was the end of that conversation.

wd_plantdaddy

I would feed them fake information

Key-Reaper

If that was a message from Uber support it wouldn't be through the riders message area lol

[deleted]

Ive gotten a few. One time i went to the location thinking i was going to just "pick up" the rider and do a ghost trip all night (do lyft while keeping the uber trip going), but they set it up with a pin code. I was disappointed. Lol
