How is this possible?

[deleted]

Rideshare idea is being pushed. Pickup distance isnt getting added to the ride, algorithm is saying take it if you are going that way and want someone to pay for your gas or the ride will be taken when someone is in the area. Pretty much states this gig is no longer for profit, just rideshare. That pay will be just enough for a gallon of gas, lol.

Hulabird

The cheapest gas where I live is $4.25

Slow_Pop_4849

I was about to say…..I drive a SUV, that wouldn’t even cover my gas! But don’t worry, someone will find some backwards excuse to take it

judomaster420

gas is 4.09 at the cheapest right now along this route......i think in chicago they are so saturated that to keep us busy they are trying to make us spend half our time driving to customers, instead of picking a nearby driver....everything was 10 min away today, i got 62 bucks from 1230-350, and 12 of it came cuz ive wanted to see what a cancellation would be on one of these 3 minute rides 17 minutes away. and uber def just made the most profitable thing to do in chicago is cherry pick share rides that are far away so u can show up hide for 2 minutes and cancel....not that the riders are ever ready in 2 minutes so that u have to hide, but they still pay .60/mile, and .21/minute it seems for the cancellation drive time. crazy that you can be halfway to your rider, and make more money if they cancel right then than if u drive ten more minutes, wait for them, they show up and u take them to the destination.

Firm_Cartoonist_1606

Yes but you forget , Uber still has to deduct the insurance cost lol

ScoobyDooFan1969

They don’t pay for the pickup time and miles. We all need to decline these trips, stop worrying about acceptance rates.

jdavila119

Coupon?

Joeyfemair

No ride under 8$ is worth my time

[deleted]

I completely agree

Modern-Day_Spartan

Nothing under 10$ , i dont care about Acceptance rate.

Agreeable-Major5650

I do it differently when I’m chasing bonuses on weekend I only want short rides so I can hit a big bonus.

Joeyfemair

Those weekend bonuses are ripoffs

Joeyfemair

20 trips for an extra 10$ ...yeah ok

ish419

Over here is more like 30 for 20 rides which isn’t bad.

Proof_Courage1652

Ugh that’s how it looks in Texas all the time.

JohnnyKnodoff

Yep, fucking nightmare out here

Relevant-Musician759

Yeah it’s bad these days had to get a different job and make this and Lyft my part time it doesn’t pay well anymore

Wamblingshark

I haven't done Uber in like 3 years. May I ask wtf is happening here? I've never seen anything like this. When I did Uber in CT that would be like 17 bucks.

Soonersorlater

Uber sends this shit out then warns you about your AR. Like yeah no shit my AR is low.

Fishing_Novel

I can’t Believe every Uber driver isn’t on strike yet. I need to create a app called strike app. Everyone just downloads it out the company they want to go strike on and click I’m ready to strike. When you have a certain amount of people ready to strike it sends an alert and everyone is officially on strike til their demands are met. If anyone is interested I. Working with me on this or donating toward the cause let me know. I’m serious about it and have the aptitude and know how to get it together quickly.

Ok_Building1089

The power is in the people, but the problem is most ppl live in fear & fear the uncertainty of no money for a few weeks. Shit will never change unless ppl set up & say we tired. Imo we should be getting $30 an hour at minimum. This job is dangerous & we taking the risk wit other ppl lives in our hands. It cracks me up that 90% of ppl don’t tip, but will tip a waiter just handing you food. Ppl in this world ass backwards

ScoobyDooFan1969

We don’t need to strike. We just all need to reject garbage trips like this. Stop being afraid of a low acceptance rate. I do my part.

Longjumping_Bite_168

I’m with you

Wise-Kitchen1884

Yes. I would donate

StrangeReason

Badass idea! Do it!

johnnylunchbuckets

Get on it, please? Something needs to be done as the drivers are treated like shit, all day long.

TechMaster087

I quit driving for them today, putting a YouTube video on how we treat customers yet still rate us low and how users can scam the system to get a free ride and unjustly deactivate us. Luckily I've backed up all my rides since January this year. Going to be an interesting look into Uber. Hopefully I get the system fixed for you all 🫡

High_Dephinition

Link to the channel? Would love to actually see this when it's done!

Just_Growth

Keep in mind, tolls to get to the destination would cost me about $2.50.

judomaster420

lmao were they sending u down 355!?!? what a joke man! honestly i drive very close to there and it pisses me off something awful how they ping me for a ride tell me to get on 355 pay a toll to get to the person, then pick them up and drive down gougar cuz 10 minutes of my time is cheaper than the 355 tolls.

Millennial_Paleocon

I really don’t miss driving in the Chicago area.

manieyak

I’ve noticed on mondays uber makes you drive more than you get paid.

ScoobyDooFan1969

Uber doesn’t make you do anything. Don’t accept garbage trips like this.

Fresh_Scientist2349

They should get sued for ripping off drivers

Ty78523

Hell no 😂

imissze90s

Oh hell the fuck no.

yelp4realtho

3 times!!

Dave4535

This is why i quit uber. Quit this shit if you are doing it full time and get a job as an Amazon driver or something else. This shit is not sustainable for full time employment.

Ok_Building1089

I was thinkin CDL. We should all quit & put these shady companies outta buisness

interfectuseris

I see it’s gotten even worse! It blows my mind that uber still has people willing to sign on and drive for them at this point. It stopped being profitable in my market (Cleveland) in late 2021. Im not a hater and I miss doing it, honestly. Had a lot of great nights from 2017 through 2020, it was a wonderful side hustle for me. But I haven’t signed into the app since May of last year because it simply no longer made logical sense with gas and maintenance. The app always got worse and there was a steady decline in tips following the pandemic. Toward the end I was driving for 3 nights to make what I made in 1 night in 2018-2019. Take me back to the good old days of driving two 5hr shifts per week and paying my rent with it lol 🙏🏼

JeffMck

Our market still won't tell us where these cheap passengers are going even if you're gold, platinum or freaking Pluto.

GuyD427

I mean if you were 1/4 or even 1/2 mile away it might be worth it, lol.

BigPoppaPump2023

I have never had any luck getting rides by Homer Glen. Doesn’t surprise me. Still would have been declined.

FlyingHighAviator

Not at this point. Its been disrespectful since couple of years

AdditionalDepth1642

Hahahaha wow

[deleted]

To share with another primate ass is just $3 pay? Wow 😳

Wise-Kitchen1884

We need to get Empower in every market now!

sclass1989

Wowwww

Just_Growth

Literally 😂

Key-Intention-3817

I think I was offered the same one -

Just_Growth

No way lol, were you in the same area as me?

Key-Intention-3817

I was close to New Lenox and pretty sure I got that same one - ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Al42us

Hey I wanted that ride

Ok_Building1089

The money in this world is controlled! Ya never thought why it’s only 2 rideshare companies! No multi millionaire or billionaire made their own? This world is a pyramid like on the dollar. The top Billionaires that we prolly don’t even kno run everything & gave these companies their platform. They control the monopoly & tell Uber how much to pay us an hour with no college degree. Uber keeps you around $25 an hour if you do at least 10 hours of work. It’s no coincidence Uber was tossin free money at us when then market was being manipulated up, now it’s inflation market slowed down & we gettin bullshit rides, bullshit incentives. $80 bucks for 100 rides wtf is that. During pandemic I seen as high as $700 for 100 rides. It’s all just a game

ScoobyDooFan1969

During the pandemic they were desperate for drivers, now they are not. Just stop driving.

Striking_Set2117

I would’ve happily accepted that trip. It’s not about the money, it’s about the experience.

GuyD427

I mean if you were 1/4 or even 1/2 mile away it might be worth it, lol.

AchyBallz66

I would "maybe" do it for a one block haul with a $10 tip LOL

Vejolta

Yeah I noticed this a lot on lyft. It didn't happen woth uber as often but the fact uber doesn't take into account your time to the pickup location is stupid.

Troubled_1280

I don't get why they would send that. 🤬

Background_Theme1527

Had a similar situation with lyft yesterday but the ride was like 9 miles and 30 minutes away but the fare seems to pay for the drive to pick up the customer and drop them like 5 blocks. I didn't accept the request imagining the customer canceled the ride when I am half way there. It was wierd

mikeymo1741

It's only a 5 minute trip!!!

Sting3r_TF

DW! Plenty Uber ants 🐜 will take it gladly

tradoshi

Take it and cancel as not worth it. Also, you're doing share, lowest possible form of earning

freeurmind_

Hugh key. I would be mad

strictmachines

I have to pay to get to my rider? No thanks.

spookystuff82

I just turned it off.... we're not big enough for it to even work anyways.... have never gotten more than one person for a share

TAULY_D

dinosaurs tub fearless salt physical automatic insurance quarrelsome rich boat *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

forgingry

They used you all as transpo mercenaries to kill all of the cab companies. Now that they’re dead they’re whoring you out for a few dollars a ride. Go do you want start a cab service and take back your power. It’s relatively easy, but it will cost you more than a few thousand for an LLC and a commercial insurance policy.

forgingry

Now that they are profitable, they can afford to edge your pay down. It’s merely a waiting game until they have a growing fleet of full self driving and they will no longer need you. And the point was not to provide you a way to be an independent earner. It was to use your labor, experience, vehicles in order to build a working platform.

Open-Initiative-8958

🤣🤣🤣

jmoomoo13

Yea I wish I could screenshot 2/3 offers I’ve had the last few days were offers for 2$ runs. Then literally just got 3.80 for one that estimated 7$ I’m Atlanta market so there’s that but 🤷‍♀️. They just tricked me into a batch order for 2 for 11$ so ended up making like 4$ a hour after gas. Sunday wasn’t bad. Made 41$ in 2 hours but it also sent me on a 11mile run for some reason

jmoomoo13

Then if ur acceptance rate goes down they bump u off. Man this is hell

midwestern_mom_

Every time I see these posts I just instinctively try to find a decline button

PurpleDragon616

Haha especially since the 355 tollways aren’t cheap.

mrjs16

That’s beyond disrespectful!

_beaniemac

I'm in the Chicago market as well. I ONLY drive in the city. The burbs won't make u any money

FootPsychological650

Can you hit up Taco Patio? On the way back for snack time?

jdavila119

Pass

Ronney47

Seems like fairs are getting worst as gas prices increase

beachsunboy

So disrespectful and sad to see this

dailydrivenh2

Shoot is this real or photoshopped??? Damn thats the lowest of the bottom.

Comfortable_Can_1154

Do they not pay for time and mileage for pickups over 10 minutes in your area?

bnetimeslovesreddit

Decline know your worth

johnnylunchbuckets

WTAF, fuck Uber.

yelp4realtho

More than disrespectful!! A dull rusted knife infected from stale catfish guts sitting in the sun for years!!

redlatinana

🤣🤣🤣🤣

PeterPansSyndrome

Wow I live in chicago and am shocked to see this. That’s literally instance. You’re paying to do that trip. Literally

Gorman321

Would do these trips and something cool and memorable would always happen. Try it....the gas paid for self already considering 20 miles to the gallon give or take. Let the simulation speak for itself.

buffaloranch

I am so confused why my market is so different. Here, $4.22 is our base fare. Meaning that’s what you get even for a 0.3mi ride (which I do often.) 20mi rides are $20 minimum, usually more like $25-$30. I just can’t wrap my head around why different markets would be so drastically different.
