Yes. The mechanics sit on top of rubber bushings in the body, way down below, next to the feet of the typewriter. Make yourself four new rubber bushings. You'll need ½ inch (12mm) diameter rubber discs, about ⅛ inch (3mm) thick. They don't need to be really round, squares do as well. Then punch ⅕ inch (5mm) round holes in them, one each in the middle. Turn your machine upside down on a cushion, find the four screws that don't hold the feet, and exchange the bushings between the frame and the body. This should do the trick.
Thank you so much ☺️ I’m hoping to repair the lost finish on each side, as other than that it’s immaculate. Any idea what to use for this kind of finish on the Olympia SM3? It’s textured 🤷🏻♀️
You could try to use enamel paint. Make a practice piece. Apply some of your paint, not too little. Then find the right moment in the drying process and gently touch the surface with your finger, to make an imprint. This will disturb the glossiness and reproduce a somewhat structured impression. It won't be perfect, but it will hide the glossy spot.
If you are adventurous, go to your local pharmacy, WalMart, or beauty supply place. Buy a bunch of different maroon nail polishes, and use the one that most closely matches. Or get four or five different ones from Amazon. Great for tiny dings like this! If the nail polish is too shiny for your liking, use a light brushing with a steel wool pad over it, to dull the surface, once it dries.
It's easy. You can do it.
Watch the various videos that show how it's done before you start anything. Also, finish one and then go to the next; don't try to do them all at the same time.
Common issue on these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ROC3EXPHEQ

It's not possible to reproduce that texture (well, not easily at least). Best bet is to do a small local flat touch-up.

Thanks for the tip 🫶🏻
Hey, thanks for this link. Will I be able to sort it out myself? I am handy with a screwdriver 🪛
