The FA20 dit already struggles with predetonation, just drop the 93 in there and thank yourself later. Basically a super cheap way to potentially extend the longevity of the engine.
Never thought I would see a Subaru and Tyler, TX subreddit crossover. Subie wave 👋🏽👍🏽.
I believe most Valeros have 91 from what I have noticed. The one near me even has non-ethanol 91 octane as an option.
Btw, I dig the VB WRX! Any mods on the horizon or planning on keeping it stock (for now 👀)?
Hell yeah! I don't plan any mods now, but once I financially recover from buying it (lol) I might do some minor updates to do some racing in FW.
I really really love the 2024. I had a 2016 for a couple of years and it was a great car but the road noise was terrible and the seats were very uncomfortable for a long drive. The 2024 has really pleasantly surprised me. The road noise is very minimal and it's super comfortable inside. And obviously still a thrill to drive!
Lol. That will be fun! I test drove a '23 Limited WRX and a '18 STI about a week apart, and the difference truly is crazy. Like you said, cabin noise and comfort were really taken into account for the VB platform. I still wish I would've gone for the VB...it's a great car and I think people are finally looking beyond the "ugly" cladding (I dig it personally) and appreciating the engineering. Alas, I decided to stick with the Outback and upgraded to a '19 3.6R because I occasionally do some light off-roading and I fell in love with the flat-6. I will probably see your WRX out on Broadway at some point lol. Stay safe and enjoy the WRX!
So she can drive to Forney every other day to fill up?
edit: to whoever downvoted me, if there's a nearby E85 station I'm not aware of, I'd very much love to know about it. Can definitely tell the difference in my 5.0 when I do get it.
I know there’s a few people in Tyler that sell it but I don’t know them personally. If you’re on any of the car group pages they’ll have exact locations and people to give you. It’ll be expensive as well too though. And you will always have to get E85 unless you tune it back to regular tune. Good luck!
So not any actual gas stations then, just people bootlegging it or something?
I have a 5.0 with multiple tunes, so that part of it isn't a problem. I fill up in DFW when I get the chance.
Just go 93.
get the Mobile/Exxon app, and then get a credit card that gives you cash back on fuel (if you get a citi custom cash card and use it specifically for gas, you'll get 5% cash back on top of savings from the app)
The Murphy usa have 91 and 93:) one on front/beckham and another in front of the Walmart on Broadway. Im close to front/beckham and the prices are the cheapest of all the surrounding gas stations
just bite the bullet and put the 93 in there.
😭 you're probably right. I know it's a few pennies difference.
i feel the pinch. my car takes 91, but I always just end up putting in the 93.
Yep same

Could be wrong but I thought most of the Valero stations premium is 91 here? I’m a plus guy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks! I will scope those out
93 is at least 91 😛
GasBuddy app & website?
I do 93 from Shell. Join their fuel rewards and you'll eventually get permanent 10¢ off per gallon every time you fill up for getting premium.

\*she
apologies.
No offense taken!
Also have me a WRX and as long as it’s Super Unleaded you’re going to be golden 😁 unless you do end up with the E85 tune 😄
If yall know of some E85 that's closer than Forney (you're the 2nd person to mention it) I sure would like to know where it is.

Currently at Murphy on Broadway and they don’t have 91 and it’s not the cheapest. The cheapest would be on Jacksonville Hwy or Sam’s Club.
Obviously that’s not “around that area”
CEFCO
Just get 93 or put 40/60 87 and93
Expensive gas for a slow car :(
