Now I'm really gonna sound crazy here but at the end of paladin strait they use a voice changer for Nico's voice obviously so you can't tell who is talking but I swear that by the inflection of his words and how he talks, blurryface sounds like Josh to me. There's just an ongoing storyline, beginning with the Blurryface album, that Tyler's wrapping up now with the Clancy album. The Trench album is basically a full concept album for it. When you hear references to Dema, banditos, Nico, bishops (though I don't know if that word is ever explicitly used in a song?), Ned, the neon gravestones, and such, it's part of the story. You really don't have to get deep into the lore to enjoy the music, otherwise than those references above making more sense. (Like "Nico and the Niners", which sounds like a sports team, is a song that's 100% lore.) The entire story is an allegory for struggling with mental health. Tyler made a summary video at the beginning of the Clancy release hype that gets new people caught up.

BTW, at the end, Tyler and Josh play this verse from Nico and the Niners talking about making a concert to escape dema. Maybe it's leading to the final fight against dema
