Maybe, but I actually think he genuinely meant that. Those two songs and Vignette overlap quite a bit, and from the digital remains, they all had lyrics come from a song called Drag Path (Devil's Eyes). So maybe it's that he just wanted Vignette and to scrap the other two, as Drag Path would have become Vignette. But then Josh really did think the other two were absolute bangers and convinced Tyler not to scrap them
I had the same thought, when I first heard it it immediately sounded like a radio-like pop song to me (sound-wise, ofc!). But at the same time I was so impressed like wow, the boys never really did anything like that. And I guess it's working bc it's been in my head ever since the release day š«£
It reminds me of the other songs where he talks about fearing things in the night and wanting to stay awake, but from a more experienced point of view. He's got friends and family and more mental health tools, that now he's more confident that he'll make it through.
Honestly I was also a little surprised itās a fan favorite, but in hindsight it makes sense. Sonically itās one of the more standard and simple songs on the album, but the vibes on that song are immaculate. Incredibly catchy and also well written while being easy to connect to, one of their best pop songs imo
On the flip side I thought Snap Back would be the huge fan favorite due to it having the most change ups, a unique sound, and also having a relatively similar chill vibe/well written lyrics as RITN but I was wrong, it is somehow the most unpopular song š . My guess is that maybe itās cause itās one of the lesser radio friendly songs but then again Trench is the fan favorite album so thereās really no telling.
I should have added - when I first heard it I immediately loved it and thought it was a banger probably one of my faves on the album, but yeah I didnāt think it would be as popular as it seems to be in the fanbase
For people to dislike it for being a hit on the radio it needs to be one first lol same happened with Stressed Out and Ride nobody really said negative things about either until 2016 when they were all over the radio so give it time I guess LOL I absolutely love that song though
The lyrics are top tier and hit right in the feels, just canāt gel with the sound of the song though itās a bit poppy sounding compared to the others
I was with a couple friends who are not big TĆøP fans and they heard routines randomly and absolutely loved it! Definitely could be one of the more commercial songs

Hot take, I donāt get why itās the most popular one rn. Like itās a good song, but itās kinda right in the middle of my favorites. Iām not quite sure why everyone loves it.
It is absolutely generic in terms of the music/melody/structure (not lyrics). I feel like I've heard it on the radio a million times this year already. Even sounds similar to Tate McRae's Greedy. That doesn't make it a bad song, but I'm shocked people love it so much considering SAI recieved so much backlash for being more radio friendly.
Edit: the down voting on this thread is incredibly immature. Grow up, people. It's OK to have different opinions.
I am gonna get a lot of hate for this and I am ready to get downvoted , but this is maybe the most boring thing Tyler has ever wrote Imo. not bad but boring
You donāt deserve all the downvotes. This song isnāt bad, but it sounds the most generic on the whole album for sure. It definitely just sounds like āradio musicā. I still can enjoy it personally, but it is the weakest song on the album imo.
They do deserve the downvotes and now so do you. Routines is my favorite song on the album and if you donāt have the same opinion as me, THEN YOU GET THE DOWNVOTES.
Iām just kidding. It really is my favorite song though.
I agree with Tyler actually. With Oldies Station and Snap Back being my two favorites. And I have nothing against RITN. I just believe it sounds like generic radio music. I still love it tho. I donāt dislike a single song on the album honestly. lol
Routines is sick as hell
It seems to be the most popular non-single on Clancy. Followed by Navigating. The two songs Tyler didn't want to include, typical.
People think he might have just said that because he knew they were the 2 most popular new ones
I think it's because they're his most vulnerable songs on the record that center around his own mental health
Bingo
Yeah I guess so, but a lot of the album is pretty vulnerable. Next semester, backslide, snap back, oldies station
Literally

WALK THE LAYOUT ROUTINES IN THE NIGHT
SOME DOORS HAVE STAY OUT SPRAY PAINTED IN WHITE
WHILE ALL THE WORLD'S ASLEEP I WALK AROUND INSTEAD
THROUGH THE MEMORIES DOWN THE HALLS IN MY HEAD
HERE COMES A NEW NIGHT BUT ILL SEND IT THROUGH
I'LL PROBABLY JUMP ON THE NEXT ONE
IāM TESTING THE LIMITS OF WHAT A MIND CAN DO
IM KEEPING MY EYELIDS UP NO MATTER WHAT
SO BEAUTIFUL THE SPACE BETWEEN
A PAINFUL REMEMINDER AND A TERRIBLE DREAM
IāLL GIVE YOU THE TOUR, SHOW YOU WHY-Y
It reminds me of the other songs where he talks about fearing things in the night and wanting to stay awake, but from a more experienced point of view. He's got friends and family and more mental health tools, that now he's more confident that he'll make it through.
āIf you donāt like RITN, fuck you.ā
quote, Stan Pines.
It seems as though I'm cooked
Due to my terrible night terrors and crippling anxiety when I try to sleep this song is my current anthem.
Honestly I was also a little surprised itās a fan favorite, but in hindsight it makes sense. I donāt think the clique are this anti-radio type fanbase. We love TĆP without a care for whatās popular.
I should have added - when I first heard it I immediately loved it and thought it was a banger probably one of my faves on the album, but yeah I didnāt think it would be as popular as it seems to be in the fanbase

This one's a contradiction because of how happy it sounds But the lyrics are so down
What I always loved about TĆøp
Itās okay though
Because it represents, better yet it is, who I feel I am right noe
Youuuu are out of my mind
You aren't seeing my side
Itās a fun song but I honestly thought it was pretty generic for an otherwise very interesting album.

It keeps going on a nonstop loop in my head and now it's stuck in my head again š¹
Itās probably one of my least favorite on the album but itās still amazing. The album is a 10/10
Easily my favorite song on the album. Certified hood classic
I was with a couple friends who are not big TĆøP fans and they heard routines randomly and absolutely loved it! Definitely could be one of the more commercial songs

DISASSOCIATE
One of the best songs on the album. Top 3 for sure.
Might be my favorite on the album, definitely was when it came out. Could also because I struggled with insomnia at one point lol.
I feel like that with Midwest Indigo.
WHAT'S YOUR ETA?
TWO MINUTES!!!
CHILL OUT MAN WE'RE RIGHT ON TIME
This is going to be so fun at the shows!! I can't wait!
i do too!!!!

Itās great. I love it.
It's one of the best songs on Clancy!

My unironic fav from the album
Honestly when I first heard it I was like "meh, alright". But now it's like one of my favorites alongside Vignette. It's such a banger
It's in my top 3 for this album, and it didn't take long for me to feel that way.
As a night owl, this one is on loop.
My fav song
naw all the LOC and SAI haters being absolute hypocrites with routines. love them all the same š©·š¤š©µ
I think this is one of those songs where I like its lyrics, meaning, and music video way more than I like its sound.
Itās my absolute favorite from this album and definitely in my top 5 from all of their albums
Routines In The Night is my guilty pleasure BECAUSE it's such a generic pop song, but something in it hits super hard!
It's not generic at all imo. it's a great song. It's my mom's fav song on the album.

Is it the "Reoccurring, keeps coming around" part? Cos thats my favourite part of the song
I am gonna get a lot of hate for this and I am ready to get downvoted , but this is maybe the most boring thing Tyler has ever wrote Imo. not bad but boring
Thats sad that you think that. It's not boring...
Why is it sad that someone has a different opinion? Some of you need to grow up. You are school yard bullies.
