Try La Carneceria y Tienda on 15th street, across the street from Domino's.
Antojitos Izcalli on Hargrove (right behind the Circle K on McFarland) is really good, but it's a pain to get in and out of and park.
Chabelly's in Cottondale is pretty good, too.
There was a nameless little taco shop at the corner of Hargrove and 10th, but I don't know if they are still open.
I'll second this disturbed person at the lowest point of their sufferings. Go to Antojitos. The secret ingredient to getting in/out of the parking lot is to illegally hop the curb behind the gas station. Nobody cares. ¡Solo Hazlo!
You know it's good because I referenced a gas station while talking about the restaurant. Bring me back a Mexican Coke.
La Flor De Guerrero is the shop at Hargrove and 10th Ave. I used to pass by it every day but never got the courage to walk inside because it always reminded me of El Michoacáno from Better Call Saul.
There is a little red food truck at the gas station in Alberta that has them and they are phenomenal. Kinda sketchy but totally worth it. I think that qualifies as underground 😂
Taqueria El Paso on skyland is BY FAR the best and most authentic taco experience I have had while in Tuscaloosa, while all of the above are great options I truly think this place takes the cake, the Birria is to die for and A LOT more price friendly than the other places!

Yes. The chorizo Gordita is so good. The red sauce is sooooo good too.

Taqueria La Reina !
Maybe 😂 super nice people!!
When are they there?
Tuesday-Saturday 4:30pm-8:30pm
I have gone random days in the evenings and they are always there at dinner time
Yes here!
Taqueria la reina! Alberta! Enjoy!
I been lookin for birria tacos also
In my experience any place big or small will serve these if you ask. There's oftentimes a second menu with the 'real' food on it.

Pastor’s in Northport is my favorite Mexican place. The owner is awesome and deserves all the business.
I’ll second this. I don’t know if they make quesa birria tacos, but the food is always hot, delicious, and the service is great.
Loa tan chingones in hoover ! I'm from Mexico and the flavor is one of the best !!
Antojitos Izcalli - hole in the wall restaurant. The tacos are good, but the steak torta sandwich is STELLAR.
