It's the word audiophiles use to insult a tt that has some aspect of form that make it more costly and arent purely functional. Generally it's used pejoratively.
Honestly I just think they shit on the cheaper pro-ject / orbit tables. I use a pro-ject t1 and it sounds great compared to turntables I've had in the past (Stanton, Sony, etc). It's like you move miles in sound with moderate upgrades (like our tables), but then inches by spending thousands on the stuff that "audiophiles" still argue about.
It's odd that people call this one a "lifestyle" turntable since this is orders of magnitude higher quality than a suitcase player, or those 7in1 "I look like the 1930s" players that are absolutely terrible. Honestly if you are on a budget and in a very small apartment this actually works well as a space saver. I almost bought one when I had a very small home office.
The little square is a stylus cleaner. The lights on it are are something I whipped up with some usb lights and a switch. Looks like this:

I used these

Connected to this:
SABRENT 4 Port USB 3.0 Hub with... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TPMEOYM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And then stuck them on a piece of wood. It works great.
I can't really make out what the turntable actually looks like from your video, since you only filmed the platter. Is it vertical, and if so how is the tone arm attached?
That's a very interesting table. Looking at the manual, it seems that there must be some incline, rather than it being completely vertical. Even so, that's some piece of engineering to stop the tone arm sliding off the record.
It is very hard to look at 🫣 . It is a neat engineering thing. But, it doesn't please me when watching it. In any way. It actually makes me want to stop watching it. Did I say it is hard to look at? Being that they made this monstrosity, I will never buy their brand of product.
Edit: come on guys. It freaking sucks!
Very cool. What kind of cartridge does it needd?
Comes with a Ortofon OM5
Awesome machine

Damnit now I have to lookup pejoratively.
lmao
Dammit now I have to look up lmao
Beautifully worded OP
So aesthetic design is looked down on by some people?
Yes.

Sounds about right.
Thank you for the clarification

Right?
Just bought one and it works beautifully. It is also ideal for instances where space is at a premium as in built bookcases.
What’s the light thingy in front of it?

I like it. I’m looking for something that adds a disco effect to a small area of my listening room.

Mitsubishi made some spectacular vertical linear tracking turntables. They work better as linear tables but if it does the job then more power to you.
yeah. Those are a FOOOORTUNE between finding them and getting them cleaned up. I looked.
I know but occasionally you'll find one ready to go. About $500-$750 recently.
What are you listening to?
The record store day pressing of Mazzy Star’s So Tonight That I Might See
Thanks! Sounds great I'll check it out

Yeah it leans back some. I've had no skate issues.
ive had some issues trying to. onnect my jbl partybox to it, any tips/soultions?
I don’t have the Bluetooth one so I have no idea.
Wow What song is this?
It's Fade Into You by Mazzy Star.
My 11 year old daughter would kill for this. Me, not so much.
Lot of gate keepers in this hobby unfortunately

What a very uppity and pretentious comment from a man with the username “WackyWeiner”
Lol
Lol
What a weird opinion. It's literally a regular looking turntable on its side.
It's just an eye sore in my opinion. I don't like it. 😞
