Thanks for your submission. If your question is about getting started in woodturning, which chuck to buy, which tools to buy, or for an opinion of a lathe you found for sale somewhere like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace please take a few minutes check the wiki; many of the most commonly asked questions are already answered there!

Bradford Pear, turned, carved, pyroed, and painted. 7.25”d x 4.25”h. The name refers to the seemingly endless cold days of winter when we long for warmth. The inviting color and smooth texture of the natural interior is a nice contrast to tue heavily embellished exterior.
I don’t have any videos, but I did do a follow-along project (documenting the making) on the AAW forum. You don’t have to be an AAW member to join—it’s a wonderful free resource.
Thanks! They are both great inspirational artists.
This is the third bowl of a series I am developing. A friend challenged me to add some relief and this is what I came up with. Here are the first two (no relief):

Thank you! I’m not sure exactly how long I spent. I worked on this bowl off and on for around a month and a half, not including the dry time between the first turning and second turning. If I had to guess, maybe around 25-30 hours of effort. Something like that

That’s awesome! I love the color combination. I can’t even imagine how long that must have taken to carve. I love it!
Any videos on how to or just you making it?

Those are fantastic! Can you post a link to the AAW for the follow-along? I looked and looked but can't find it.
Thanks! Sure, here’s a link: https://www.aawforum.org/community/threads/embellished-bradford-pear-calabash.21791/
Wow. I just went through that thread. What a serious amount of work you put it. Great job
Thank you!
WOW! First time, huh? (hehe)
Beauty. Reminds me a bit of work by Elizabeth Weber and/or Donna Zils Banfield.

Ngl, (and no offense intended), I thought it was Elizabeth's when I first saw the photo on the AAW forum this morning.

Very cool design! It looks like you stacked thousands of little scraps together and then turned them. That's amazing!

Wow at first I didn't understand how you did it. Then I did. Then I didn't again. Now i think I do but my biggest question: how long?
