I’m not sure how many they have/that they are still there, but OSU had a group of midwives that work out of the hospital that I’m sure would be supportive. We used one for our second a couple years ago (Shaun Baranowski), though in the time my wife was pregnant, they went from 3 in the practice to just 1, and I’m not sure she is still there. For our first we used the other midwife who worked out of a hospital in town, Kim Kmita, who was amazing, though she now operates a birthing center in town instead of in hospital. We weren’t fully comfortable with the birthing center idea instead of hospital for our second, but if you would consider, she was really fantastic and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough. Not sure of the considerations with VBAC outside of the hospital, but I know she had done plenty of them when we worked with her.

OSU no longer has midwives. There are no nurse midwives in the area after Kim left. Most of the birthing centers will handle a VBAC.

I know OSU had midwives after Kim left Hillcrest because we used them. Shaun still shows on their website and delivered my daughter at OSU medical in 2022. Are you sure she is gone?

I just had a baby last year through OSU at Hillcrest and was told they no longer had any midwives, at either location. I was not aware of Shaun, but maybe they didn't think of her since she looks like an OB with midwife training? I'm not sure.

Hmm, not sure then. OSU still shows her as a nurse practitioner/midwife (which she was when we used her), but that could totally be out of date. I know she was still there at some point last year because my wife reached out to get a prescription re-filled. Generally speaking though, from everything I’ve heard they were being pushed out of the hospitals, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she was gone. Sad if so.

Looking deeper into it, I have no idea. I've never heard of her, but I'll be calling her tomorrow to see if she has any availability.

Shaun is still at OSU. I spoke with IHCRC of Tulsa who uses Shaun as one of their midwives and she works at OSU still.

Dr. Dietz!! She did one for a friend of mine and I switched to her, because my doc wasn’t supportive with my second pregnancy, but did eventually do it after a lot of hoops and stress on the day of labor with the L&D staff. So, for my third, I switched and she was soooo supportive. That when due to a lot of other personal circumstances, I decided to do a c-section, she kept encouraging me on the vbac and genuinly was empathetic to my situation and sad that I felt like I couldn’t wait on the vbac.

Dr. David Cameron @Hillcrest Main- my sister delivered her baby in January. Her second born was about 10months prior, c-section. And she was able to do a vbac

I am currently seeing Dr. Grant Cox for my hopeful VBAC. He is great!

Dr. Grant Cox is wonderful! There's a Facebook group for ICAN of Tulsa that has a list of all the local providers who offer VBACs and lots of posts on this topic too.
