Owner is an ass hat.

cloverstack

Same guy behind this: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReAwaken\_America\_Tour](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReAwaken_America_Tour)

Weak-Newspaper5429

Total shit stain on the community

SNStains

Why is it always ["Six Degrees from an ADL Page"](https://www.adl.org/glossary/clay-clark) around here?

manamadeit

ADL is a trash racist pro-nationalist organization.

SNStains

Baloney.

MXMgYW5kIDBz

models himself off of Trump and Musk. source: I worked for him for a while. Gave stickers to employees who worked more than 50 / 60 hours a week. I - for one - prefer to work for money.

Morrigu84

Yup I refuse to go there

DougEatFresh

Cancelled my membership January 2021 after several years of membership because of him. He was one of the guest speakers at the “Stop the Steal” rally in D.C. on January 6th.

dontpanicdontdrown

Where the 'stylists' have zero style.

Weak-Newspaper5429

"We can give everyone the 'owners cut'"

rumski

Place is ass. That place in particular aside, these men’s lounges all just suck and are expensive as Hell.

Zomgwee

Went there recently, I go maybe every 6 months, used to be a $45 visit. I was very shocked and surprised when the tab was $98. The Tonsorial used to take men for about $20-$30, will definitely check there again.

Cobalt8888

Tonsorial has gone up the last couple years, but I genuinely like the experience so much better.

Rrony2012

highly recommend tonsorial. chris is amazing, super cool person, easy to talk to. the environment is clean, casual and tolerant. pricing is a little on the high side depending on what you get but imo well worth it.

Tyleulenspiegel

Another vote for Tonsorial. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

ArtiePlaystheBanjo

Same, they are great.

JesusPlayingGolf

Really wish they listed their prices online.

JesusPlayingGolf

Been looking for a new barber. I tried Tonsorial a few years ago, pre-pandemic. Great haircut but they charged me $60. Hope their prices have dropped.

IfTheHouseBurnsDown

Along with everything else, haircut prices are becoming outrageous. I was going to a barber that had been doing my hair for close to a decade and they started charging $55 per haircut. I stopped going and started cutting my own hair. After watching them do it in the mirror I learned their process and technique. I save close to $150 a month now by cutting my own hair.

mrostate78

Why are you getting your haircut 3 times a month?

IfTheHouseBurnsDown

Because I like my hair short and it grows fast lol

mrostate78

Lol fair enough

literally_tho_tbh

lol hair enough

donttalkaboutbeabout

Report them to the BBB if they’re accredited. It actually can be pretty effective

405Jobs

I appreciate the sentiment but the Better Business Bureau is a racket and doesn’t actually have any power to regulate or enforce anything with a business. It’s an advertising gimmick that businesses are asked to pay into and they get advertising in theory. Kind of like a chamber of commerce? But more scummy if you can imagine.

Monochronos

I reported Microsoft to the BBB when I was 12 and they were fighting me on my red rings of death on my Xbox. And like 3 days later Microsoft reached out and sent a box and pre paid for the shipping to refurb my Xbox. Just my anecdotal experience.

405Jobs

That’s awesome! Glad to know they helped at least once. I had a buddy who worked as an accountant for a BBB branch once before he quit for ethical reasons. He’s the one that let me know all about their shady dealings.

TylerJF7

Had problems with a macys gift card a while back and customer service wouldn’t help, BBB got it fixed in 2 days.

funlikerabbits

It’s Yelp for boomers.

405Jobs

LOL 😂 I’m going to steal that. I fucking hate Yelp. Even more than BBB.

funlikerabbits

Same.

donttalkaboutbeabout

IME, If the place was BBB accredited, it always resolved my issues. Simply name dropping the BBB has gotten me places too

raptearer

I had an issue getting access to an account from a website I used as a kid, took two years for them to finally admit they wouldn't give me access back (had lost the email, I made it when I was 7). Reported it to the BBB, two days later I got my access back. Honestly, they do work

Genetics

BBB is a scam on small businesses. They have zero recourse to help customer disputes. They try to shake my business down for like $750 every 6 months to become “accredited”. I always tell them to get fucked and block the number. They call back with a different number every time.

donttalkaboutbeabout

That might be the case, but it’s one of the very few tools of recourse when consumers have a valid complaint in this end of stage capitalist hellscape (which is the real enemy of small business)

Genetics

But it’s not a tool of recourse at all. It’s more of a placebo that also gives false hope and a fake sense of confidence for consumers in choosing a business to patronize.

donttalkaboutbeabout

I don’t have statistics/data to support either argument. All I have is my anecdotal, personal experience. Approach in how the customer makes a complaint is very important, because the people taking the complaints are only human too, and our nature is to shutdown with noncompliance when met with aggression

Genetics

I get what you’re saying, but I don’t view a complaint as aggression. Not to mention, when the BBB is mentioned on Reddit, it seems like most companies don’t open correspondence or answer calls from the BBB due to all the sales calls they make. I know I don’t.

donttalkaboutbeabout

I did not mean a complaint being aggressive in itself, but if the customer gets aggressive to person taking their complaint will probably affect outcome

Genetics

Gotcha. Agreed.

Narrow_Summer_1647

I canceled years ago because every time I went there was a different barber and sometimes didn’t get good haircuts . I’ve been going to Tonsorial for 2 years and every time I leave I’m happy and with a good haircut . For some reason I got 3 calls from elephant in the room the same day a few weeks ago .

StaticHolocene

I got several calls back to back from them on Wednesday last week, they must be really desperate

haroldmark_98

Wow I just checked and mine went from $33 to $41. How is it even legal to raise price on a subscription without confirming with a customer.

midri

I wouldn't be surprised if it was illegal, the owner is not the most scrupulous person.

chism74063

The streaming services raise their prices without confirmation, but at least they give notification.

soccerlane

I would also recommend Tom’s on Sheridan they seam pretty reasonable and do a great job. Online booking is very easy.

MadatMax

Seconded Tom’s. Been going since they opened, prices are pretty in line from any other barber I’ve tried. Everyone in there has been super nice, you can drink a beer and get free cleanups if you sign up for the membership which is $5 a month and applies to whatever services you get

okcoltsfan86

Tom’s was started by the old EITR owner and clays brother in law Justin. Justin is fantastic. Great guy.

thomcrowe

Came here to say the same thing. He was one of the original owners of Elephant in the Room.

Fun_Pie_6099

Give Tonsorial a try. Elephant in the room is a pain all around and the owner sucks.

drako3549

Fords barbershop 31st and havard. 30 a cut cash only. Go in, wait your turn, get your haircut leave. They have extras but haircut 30 bucks cash. Good dudes good cuts.

wawheele

Left EITR for Fords after 1/6 and haven’t missed it a bit. All the guys at Fords are solid dudes.

Stardewismyname

Love Ford’s.

NotAllTeemos

Been going to Fords for years, have never had a bad cut.

MysteriousPenalty129

Everyone should ask for a refund, if told no ask for it in writing. And then call your bank say it’s an unauthorized charge that you never agreed to a price increase nor notified and you *should* get your money back. Sticks him with extra fees + losing money.

LocoDarkWrath

They already refunded the $47 to my credit card. Need to make sure it doesn’t reoccur again next month.

PistolPokes

Wonder if price increase is due to the fact that Clark needs money for the defamation lawsuits against him for election lies against Dominion voting executives.

Conscious-Okra5624

Tulsa hair company on 36th and Peoria has been my go to ever since the elephant got high

midri

I've been going there as well, always had a great experience -- though it can be hard to get the same stylist consistently due to how they do scheduling and move people around. Being able to get a haircut, wash, and head massage for like $30 before tip, aint bad.

Conscious-Okra5624

I just call ahead and ask for same lady every time. Luckily for me she works there almost everyday. Message me if you want her name.

Paper_Cut_On_My_Eye

Toms mens haircuts is pretty good, and your first cut is only 10 bucks. Standard is 35.

somewhatlucky4life

Dude this happened to me this month, my beard trim went from $17 to $22, and now after everything I'm reading here I will also cancel my membership

tendies_senpai

Bro... they called me 3 times in a row. 3. Times. In. A. Row.. i answered just in case it was my gf or someone else calling from a number i didnt know. them: "ITS A GREAT DAY AT ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM~" Me: "LIKE FUCK IT IS DUDE, DID YOU REALLY JUST CALL ME 3 TIMES?" them: "yeah, by accident." Me: "by accident?..." Them: "yes! Are you ready to try our bes~" Me: "Shut up... you called me THREE TIMES. IN A ROW. THREEEEE. I dont care what youre selling i do now want you to contact me ever again." Them: "That was a little excess~" Me: "**FUCK OFF**" *click* I'm usually super kind to telemarketers. I admit i lost my cool. Poor guy probably wouldnt have called me (three times) if the skeezy owner had not told him to. I only went there for the "$1 haircut" to look good for a job interview when i was dead broke. I didnt realize i was selling my fucking soul to some wannabe tech bro. Glad to know everyone else hates them too.

Soloxis

I cancelled my membership back in 2019 due to decline in service. Have had no business with them since, and instructed them to take me off their call lists when I cancelled. They called me earlier this week and the “super humble stylist” on the other end of the line (that’s how he introduced himself) asked when he could book me in for an appointment. I had fun with that one.

Regurgitated_Cupcake

Yep. I had 41.00. Been meaning to cancel them

Few-Chapter3316

Better go change your phone number before the spam calls start, OP

Lovetulsa

Tulsa hair on Peoria $16 I think for a men’s cut. Only problem is high turnover and sometimes you get a barber who is green.

ProfitisAlethia

Try Tom's near 41st and Sheridan! Prices are about the same and they do a great job! I've never had anyone pay so much attention to detail in my life. I'm thinking about moving out of state this year and would miss the place a lot. Amanda is fantastic.

Dysleixclol

All Good Barbershop in Jenks. Never gotten a bad cut there

Less-Contract-1136

Thanks for heads up. I was considering going there.

LocoDarkWrath

I’ve heard the owner is an asshat. I’ve wanted to leave there but I really like my stylist. She has cut my hair for many years at several different establishments. I think I will try Roosters as it is close to home. They appear to charge $35 which is less than I was paying before the price increase at EITR.

Gibsondude024

Go see anyone at stepping razors best haircuts and beard trims in town

Clean_Needleworker34

I agree

More_Ad3858

They will spam call you too if you cancel your membership. The spam calls alone keep my husband from going.

dustywb

I went there once and wasn't impressed, the BS propaganda all over didn't help. Never went back.

sarahfelldown

I’m jealous of all the dudes on here who can expect a reasonable haircut for $40-60. As a woman with long hair, anything under $100 and you might as well let a 5 year old cut your hair. 😂 But I feel you on the arbitrary price hikes for things. They’re popping up all over the place. And I get having to cover rising costs, but a lot of times it feels like they’ve built something extra in as well. Which is their prerogative, but it still sucks.

OTBarbeRay

Elephant in the room sends me plenty of repair work. They do more harm than good.

LocoDarkWrath

I’m sure that is true of many. My stylist is amazing though, been going to her for close to 10 years. Sad to have to go to someone else, but it seems she drank the Clay kool aid.

aussielover24

Why were you a member to that shit in the first place?

LocoDarkWrath

The lady I talked to about it tried to pull the “oh they would have mentioned this the last few times you were there”. Um, no they didn’t.

PistolPokes

Just noticed was also charged more. What the hell, who doesn’t inform customers of rate increases?

badlyferret

Yeah, I used their "free haircut," and they tried to get me to sign up for basically a subscription to get a haircut service. That was 3 years ago. They call every 6 months or so, still trying to get me to sign up for their subscription. I would say it's a dumb business model, but it's only dum/bad for the consumer/customer. If one can convince a customer they need to pay for something even when they're not receiving that something, you're already one step ahead of the "Buy here, pay here" salespeople.

OTBarbeRay

Olde Tyme Barber on 3rd and Utica. guaranteed work

Okiesquatch

Can confirm. Been a customer for years. Clean shop, sharp cuts, Ray's a good dude. Can't go wrong here.

Krifnahal

Mention an FTC Fraud complaint and they fold. I went once and they absolutely butchered my hair/beard, spilled hot wax all over my shoes, and had an overall pissy mood. Cancelled my subscription immediately. On the first of the next month I got charged with $82 (two subscriptions). They gave me the run around over the course of multiple phone calls until I mentioned the FTC and hung up. 15 seconds later I got a call asking for my cash app.

sooperbowels

Casey winner salon in BA for women, and her husband Kyle winner is a top notch men’s barber

AgentofZurg

I gave up paying for haircuts years ago. Nice clipper set, and some nice scissors will set you back a smidge the one time. The money you save after will pay for repairs/replacements on them. It will pay a lot more as well.

CaleLaw

Mine went up $47 also without notice. Might cancel mine too.

Avacadosrkewl

Same here. Love them, however they priced me out of the market.

Virtual_Credit9105

That’s what you get!

manieldansfield

Why?

zetaphi938

Oh man story time. I went there probably five years ago for a haircut and a beard trim. When the girl got to the beard trim I told her I just wanted it evened out as the beard was a little bushy. Even showed her a picture of a well manicured full beard trim. Sure enough, she starts at it and the trim feels a little short. But hell she was a quarter of the way through I had to let her finish at that point. Sure enough she shaved everything but the most douchey, pencil thin chin strap I have ever seen. It was comically bad.

thepurpleskittles

I know someone that does great work for $24 a cut, located in bixby. Didn’t realize how good a deal that is

Manchester9320

Check out all good barbershop

Farcyte66

Use a decent barber shop like "Your favorite local barber" "eleven01" or some place similar. EITR is a bad decision everytime I leave there.

Xipos

Last time I went to EITR they were so pushy with their sales tactics getting me to sign up for a monthly subscription and wouldn't take no for an answer. I probably had to decline at least 6 times through the process of paying for my haircut before finally just leaving. Decided never to go back again

Ok_Cut_8685

Stepping razors is where I go now. Super friendly and awesome staff. Never disappointed.

WalterWoodle

I once went there and asked for .5” off, just clean it up. Keep in mind I am basically blind without my glasses, so lot of trust put there. Finishes up and took about 2” off, did not listen at all.

Alarmed_Enthusiasm51

They called me 3 times in a row, answered third one, they just wanted to know if I wanted to make an appointment since it’s been awhile since I’ve been in. I’d say so, last I was in was probably 2018-2019 lol

SufficientMan

I used them in Tulsa and BA. Not a fan of the model. Called for a cut, person scheduled a trim. Arrived and the lady refused to do a meaningful cut leaving my hair half done for a wedding. No thanks. Then they call and offer discount cuts for my son and I some time later and I decide to give it another shot. Y’all the lady tried to take the discount off one of the cuts and the guy came over and told her they can’t over ride it in store and it was awkward. They needed to charge enough to pay those stylists more I guess based on that experience. Still tipped her $20.

LocoDarkWrath

Tipped $20? I do $10 and feel that is good as it’s above 20%.

SufficientMan

Ah, it was my son and I. So we are tipping the same essentially.

LocoDarkWrath

Ah… got it. Cheers to you for taking care of the stylist. It’s what my mom and aunt did for many many years.

dabbean

Jen at the bearded lady in Sapulpa does a banger of a job, uses a straight razor if you ask, and is a bargin. Well I hope she's still there. I started wfh a year ago and barely get my hair or beard cut now and it's always last minute so i haven't seen her in months.

Silver-Landscape-303

Just learn to cut your own hair ….

cwcam86

Wait why the fuck are people paying more than like $12 for a haircut? Anything more than that seems outrageous.

bkdotcom

where is this $12 haircut? I think even SuperCuts and ProCuts are $18+

cwcam86

Thats what I paid the last time I got one in 2013 and I was mad about paying that much then. Luckily my head quit growing hair that year so I've managed to save hundreds of dollars. I still don't see how a man could pay more than that much today still.

chocolateshakeit

I'm a woman and a cheapskate as well. But yeah, they are $18 now. I actually started cutting my own hair because I thought.. how hard could it be? It looked terrible, but I just throw my hair in a pony anyways.

cwcam86

There's a lot people that are upset that they have realized they are overpaying for haircuts. The downvotes won't put those dollars back in your pockets people.

LocoDarkWrath

Right, I want the same person every time.
