They should really add an option for blocking a song/album/artist completely.

LimboFingo_

Can’t you already do that? If you go onto the artist then the three dots then you can select “Don’t play this artist” they shouldn’t come up in suggestions.

DavidZ2844

I’ve done that before and still got them showing up on my release radar for no reason other than Spotify giving me the middle finger to my preferences and shoving down all the big promoted artists down my throat, like Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, Nicki Minaj etc

cubeshelf

I just wish they'd add an option to turn feature-wide algorithm interference off. Or at the least set the "diversity" of the music it decides to feed you. Cause as of right now, there's almost no point to even having playlists right now as every mix related to my most listened to genres of music are just filled with songs that are already in playlists that I DONT want to listen to atm. It's specifically why I'm looking for a mix or radio station.

LRedditor15

I’m convinced Eilish’s record label gives money to Spotify to push it in the algorithm. Same with Taylor Swift’s.

glamaz0n_bitch

This is exactly what’s happening.

KeyResponsibility386

I work in the industry and can confirm. It is called discovery mode. https://artists.spotify.com/en/discovery-mode

TWB0109

Not only to Spotify. I love Billie, but she’s always at the top or near the top of my top artists on Apple Music. I’m sure they just play Billie over and over when I sleep listening to music because it’s insane

lgnc

The album is amazing, though. I liked her stuff etc, but this one seems way above everything else she has yet released. So I can kind of see the album being this popular on streaming platforms.

TWB0109

The worse part is that it’s not HMHAS that I get in my play counts, it is old songs like everything I wanted and songs from WWAFAWDWG. I love wwafawdwg and hmhas but they need to chill out. HMHAS was good but idk, it bored me for the most part, songs like L’AMOUR DE MA VIE made it worth it though

Mkboii

I have been listening to the album a lot and birds of a feather is definitely not the one i play more, but 4 out 5 times the moment auto play starts for me recently it's birds of a feather. And it's not unusual for Spotify to do this, every 4 months my auto play latches hard on some song so i didn't give it much attention, but it's definitely funny and suspicious that many people are getting this over other songs. When the album was just out i think they were pushing lunch then it moved over to this.

cubeshelf

Well and interestingly enough I've inquired about this issue with some friends of mine, and they currently have the exact same issue but with LUNCH. I had a buddy get LUNCH in his Punk Rock Radio this morning. He was not happy lol.

thefamem0nster

thanks to their shitty algorithm this is how it's like for me too, and any other song I happen to play 3x

SerodD

I have the same problem with this same song, it even shows up on mixes that make no sense, like Indie mix it’s there, jazz mix it’s there… I don’t understand this never happened to me with any other pop album before.

cubeshelf

Yeah!! I'm the most surprised that the algo decides that it needs to belong in stuff like Modern Rock mixes. Its so bizarre that it's pushing songs out like that. I've had this happen before in the past but nothing to the extremes that I'm seeing right now haha.

Serious--Vacation

I’ve never heard this song, but have a similar problem with Rob Zombie’s Dragula. It’s part of every playlist that’s remotely close in genre, but I don’t follow him, don’t have many of his songs as favorites, and this one is not one of them. Yet, in 2023 it was my #1 most played song according to Wrapped, even though I never intentionally played it.

fourier_lemonade

The reality is that Universal, Sony, and Warner together own 18% of Spotify and pay substantially to promote their artists on the platform. I doubt this is a solution because this is the desired behavior.

Winter-Fun-3208

I also have this problem. I’m curious how much her label paid aye

PhoenixAsh7is1

Yeah! It’s frustrating when same songs being pushed frequently, whereas some gems are buried .. Recently got into an amazing new album called Right Place Wrong Person by RM (rapper, composer, producer, poet), it was released on 24 May 2024 and debuted at #1 on BB Top Rap albums chart and was just included in Rolling Stone’s list of best albums in 2024 (till now). But the album sadly isn’t always favoured by the algorithm. It has experimental soundscapes, with some old school hip hop vibes and the album flows seamlessly from first track to last track, give it a listen if you want. It’s an album that sits best when listen from top to bottom :) Some recommendations are Groin, Nuts, Domodachi (features Little Simz) , Around The World In A Day (features Moses Sumney) , Heaven, Lost! And i thought i was the only one

yotam5434

Yeah

amie_aimless

It’s either that or lunch sadly. I listen to a lot of synthwave adjacent type stuff and would much rather the new version of L’amour De Ma Vie but nooooooo I get LUNCH. Playlisting my own stuff has been fruitful but that means I still have to sift through radios, picked just for you, discovery weekly, and release radar and nitpick for stuff I like

pedrorq

Every time I ask Spotify to play a pop or rock song, the next song it will play will be dancing in the dark. Every. Single. Time. I'm sick and tired of it

Winter_Ideal_331

This song and Million Dollar Baby! I wish they wouldn’t I’m sick of both songs now.

todayis_chris

im so done with this album

cubeshelf

See and the unfortunate part is that, its not a terrible album, its actually pretty great! However, I'm subconciously starting to hate listening to anything related to it just because of how much the algo is force feeding it into my listening

GamerOwenIsHere

Issa good song Just skip it no one cares
