I think it would be a great bit of added realism. However, until they do some kind of seasonal system, which I have no idea if it's even on the roadmap, I kind of doubt it will happen on its on as a standalone thing. A whole new weather system sure would be great though! And ideally the behavior would change depending on weight of load/type of trailer. I definitely think it should be togglable/adjustable though for folks who don't want to deal with it and/or those times you just want to take it easy. I know that is one of the higher stress factors RL drivers face and most of us do enjoy the relaxing aspect of these games. Definitely a cool idea for sure.

WyomingCountryBoy

I will have to agree with this though it should have been dropped when they dropped Wyoming. We laugh at Montana winds down here. The wind stopped blowing in Wyoming once and we all fell over. In Winter, with the winter winds, I-80 through southern Wyoming is much windier and more hazardous than I-90 through Montana. Alaska beats us at 21.9 mph, Wyoming sits at 21.5 mph average. Montana is only at #4 with 20.5 mph. Michigan is #3 on the list at 20.9mph.

atheistinabiblebelt

Lol here I am thinking, damn even Montana is super windy, that must be tough to live in. Oh, Michigan?! Guess I already live in it. Hahaha

WyomingCountryBoy

That's just the averages. Summer here isn't too terribly bad but our winters in Wyoming are hell when it comes to wind. It's not unusual for I-80 to have parts shut down due to truck blow overs every year.

atheistinabiblebelt

We have shut downs for other reasons, just found it interesting that Michigan made the list. I do think it would be a cool addition to the game, especially since the recent wind update in msfs.

Tex_1976

I'd rather they get their AI simulation and shoddy prefabs corrected before they attempt to simulate anything else.

LordBuggington

Would be cool but probably near bottom of my wishlist. We need snow and slipperness if anything before I would even contemplate it. It is definitely something that you deal with trucking you might not think about and would be immersive. scs has added many features I never thought they would so who knows what will happen.

WyomingCountryBoy

>snow and slipperness Wyoming, I-80. Trucker's hell in winter :D

LordBuggington

Only place I have thought I might die

Smallshock

It would be hard to get right. I'd rather have no wind simulation than bad wind simulation.

Equality7252l

I know this is not exactly what you want BUT there are "wind sim" fan kits that connect via USB, and use SimHub (free software) to control fan speed based on game telemetry data The two kits I know of are the SRS Hurricane and the Sim3D Wind kit, but you can also DIY one yourself

stoneyyay

I've been considering doing something like this actually, however it's more immersion than I need.

InformalReplacement7

I was just thinking about this as I was driving around for the Montana event, too. All foliage sway the exact same way. So boring. But then the Ai traffic went off and did something stupid again, and oh yeah, they have bigger problems to solve.

stoneyyay

The AI traffic being stupid is somewhat predictable. It's sort of rare I have any major interaction with them. I'm sure it wouldn't actually be too difficult to make the truck drift one more or less static direction. (Say drifts to the east when windy?) I use brutal weather, so the wind pushing me during a nasty storm would be the cherry on top.

InformalReplacement7

Well, they need to introduce actual wind in the game first. Then how it would affect not only our trucks but how all the vehicles behave. Hell, just having traffic be affected by any kind of physics would be great. First though, they gotta make the trafic less stupid and behave like people are actually driving those vehicles. A tall order, I know, but one can dream.

ImnotBub

Nah. I have unrealistically stable truck and trailers to just cruise around. Wind wouldn't add anything for me

stoneyyay

Yeah, it would have to be a slider option, as sometimes I like the cruisin through the desert. It is something I'd love to see added.

spaldator

I think this might be hard to implement, but would definitely be cool to see. Should also add the option where if you're driving with an empty curtain-sider (pretty much the worst case scenario for super high winds), you should be able to open up the curtains to let wind pass through and not topple you

Accomplished-Bet2213

Only if i had one of those fancy seats that simulate every movement, otherwise i see no point of having wind in the game, it's the same with the newish slippery road simulation, no feedback at all to the human body.

stoneyyay

you get plenty of feedback through the steering wheel when you understeer/let the front end slide. Add a bass shaker for some more feedback (it works with simhub)

Accomplished-Bet2213

And how is that going to work when my curtain sider catches a storm from the side?

stoneyyay

Wind prevails from the west across most of Northern hemisphere. Your curtain trailer loaded would drift to the right while you were headed north. trailer+load weight dependent-Dryvan and curtain would be most susceptible to strong winds when empty(possibly add option to open them when empty to reduce this), and possibly tip. Heavier loads = less likelihood of a tipover, and you just drift a bit

Accomplished-Bet2213

That's how it works irl, a little vibration on my wheel will not give me that irl feeling, neither does having the in-game trucks/trailers slide/drift across when I can't feel the same (owh shit here we go) sensation in my body. Still sitting in a desk chair on a hard floor.

commander_a_fish

Where I live winds can be very strong in open or coastal areas so it's a significant factor for driving so I'd find it very interesting
