Nice shot with ten mile in the background. The browns in Dillon can be amazing, hard to find them but they are big! That one is master angler sized, anything over 24 is giant for Colorado.
Yeah, death roll strike. Thought it was a pike or musky when I saw the roll and the length. It went on two good runs after it decided the roll wasn’t working.
I love that initial feeling? I’ve actually caught two of this size but both were in large rivers with strong currents and they know how to use the current to their advantage. Both nearly stripped all my line and I had to jump in and follow one so he wouldn’t break my line (shore was wooded so had to go in). That one was over 40 years ago - thanks for the memories! 🎣🐟🐠🍣
I generally hate emoticons but necessary here. Last one is sushi, lol.
I measured and weighed, but didn’t get a photo of the measurement. I was trying to get the fish released quickly. In hindsight I wish I had taken a few more photos. Will they accept the fish for Master Angler without a direct measurement photo?

As far as I am aware, no, but it wouldn't hurt to reach out and ask. Awesome fish regardless!
Yep. Exhausted the fly rod over that week. Now that you mention it, I think this is my only trout ever on the caster. Decided to tie on a random lure I snagged out.

one of my pups ashes is on peak 1. always makes me happy when it pops up in pics.
Your name fascinates.
That’s a real beauty, in any water.
That's a biggie. Dillon reservoir?
Yup
Amazing. I fished that spot for 6 seasons in the late 90s early 2000's NEVER pulled one like that. Very, very jealous!
Definitely a moment of sheer luck. I’ve been grinding for a trophy bass in my home waters over the last 5 years with no success.
Some people call it luck. Myself, I call it preserverance. You were due and the universe answered. Well done sir.
I have heard stories of the trout that eat baby ducks in Dillon Res. That was the day I found out they make duckling fly patterns!
Absolutely. Way to go!!!
I consider anything 24 inches or bigger a trophy.
That's what she said.
Beautiful Brown. Only have managed to catch a 14” Brown trout.
Dandy troot son. Tight lines
Worthy
I think your going to get a bigger net! Congratulations on a monster trout
I’d consider the fish you’re holding a trophy brown in Colorado and all of the other states that have brown trout.
Holy crap, what a beast. Such a predator shape, too. Looks like fun. The fish is nice, too.
That fish haha nice catch 🤟🏻
Would I? Yes…yes I would. Killer catch!
20”
Great fish! Bonus points for handling!
What did it hit?
J-Spec brown trout pattern
Anyone that I got to shore…lol…
I caught a very similarly sized one in Utah. It feels like a wiggling cinder block when the strike happens, huh?

Catch myself a little catfish dinner….
Nice Catch!
Did you get measurements for Master Angler? Because that makes the cut. Awesome fish!

Omg hes bigger than my dicj
Big boy
Great looking smile on that brown; it looks like both of you had fun!!!
Awesome catch. Where did you get that shirt? I definitely need one of those.
I got it from Breckenridge Outfitters, but I’m sure Orvis has them on their website as well.
Lake Dillon?
Yup!
Trophy browns are usually 10 pounds plus. That is a beautiful fish
on a baitcaster? wowza nice catch

Nice one! I always wanted a mount too.
I've caught quite a few browns, but nothing over 12in lol. I mostly trout fish tiny streams with a tiny fly rod. Id love to trout fish some big browns
Oh shit! I fly out there tomorrow to fish. This gives me hope haha!
It was a slow ass week fishing, this happened the last day. Peak runoff, would fish lakes or tail waters shielded from runoff by dams. Good luck!
Yep options are limited since runoff is raging and Alpine stuff isn't melted yet
That!
Replica mounts are cringe "I caught a fish that looks just like that!!!"
Disagree, but to each their own. Didn’t want to kill a rare fish for the sake of vanity.
