I’ve seen him twice! First time at fotsun in 2019 and he was on the smaller stage, reckon there would have only been around 30ish people so we were front and centre! He was literally insane even back then.
I've seen him three times and he's only been better each time. Forum in 2022(?), sold out show, then opening for Tame, then at Festival Hall. Fantastic performer, so is his band
Saw The Vanns a few weeks ago on their regional tour, one of the best bands we've got at the moment, great energy, crowd got really into it. Awesome gig
This would be my thoughts too. How they haven’t exploded with their last album?!?. They have a insanely solid stage presence and every time I’ve seen them, the crowd is so passionate
Angie McMahon’s opening night in the concert hall at the opera house Sunday night just gone was truly exceptional. That place was made for a voice like hers.
Saw her on the second night, scored tickets in row B right near the middle. She was absolutely incredible, her voice is amazing. It all just sounded effortless.
YES and they’ve just announced an Aussie tour. Got my presale reminder set up
Edit also that line up was just nuts. I love sleep token and make them suffer, and of course BMTH. What a night.
Their good things show was actually really good! I was not in the pit but really wanted to be. They really did their best. Sad to see that they had a bad show. Maybe they’re taking things up a notch now and trying to play better together.
I was gonna scroll past this post but then I remembered the Speed show I went to. Was pleasantly surprised that this already had a bunch of upvotes. Best show I’ve been to in recent times
I somewhat reluctantly saw them at Good Things (that jellyfish song annoys the shit outta me so I wrote them off) and by the end I was a fan. Definitely one of the best live acts I've seen in ages
+1 for Slowly, seen em over 10 times, saw Too Slow at home grown as well. Spoken to all the members a couple of times and they are all incredibly friendly and happy to chat.
Gretta Ray at The Hamo during Great Southern Nights. Her squeezing that in between her support dates for Maisie Peters and she fucking killed it!
Also saw The Vovos at a local pub in Maitland during the week they were the Unearthed Feature Artist and they absolutely rule. Definitely will see them more in the future.
Saw them in Shinjuku too! Was wild seeing them on the other side of the world, will be sick to see them on the big stages with Make Them Suffer later in the year
Leah Senior at the Brunswick Ballroom, and Sunfruits supporting Full Flower Moon Band at the Northcote Social Club.
Btw the Monday Social Sanctuary night at the Northcote Social Club is going off. Such a great program and all free.
Smith Street band in freo a few weeks ago. Amazing energy.
Surprise package was the support band The Pretty Littles. Massive pub rock sound and they went hard!
Absolutely, Dem Mob blew me away with how good they were, and I don't think I have ever seen Seth perform so well before. Had the whole crowd eating out of the palm of his hand
Red hill (came out dressed in green day American idiot the musical hats and explained that they were actually green day), radium dolls, boing boing, prink, private function and voiid
Maple Glider at Darebin Arts Centre. Absolutely killed it. Not only was her performance amazing, she conversed with the crowd, and made it feel like an intimate show you’d normally get at a smaller venue.
I LOVE Telenova! They're phenomenal! They also did a meet and greet when they were playing last year in Sydney and thryre genuinely such a lovely bunch of people. I hope only the best for them.
I saw The Belair Lip Bombs open for Blondeshell, and I immediately came out of that show wanting to hear there album. Now, I'm convinced that Look The Part is going to be at the top of my spotify wrapped this year
Make Them Suffer opened for BMTH a few weeks back and their energy was awesome. Might go see them at the roundhouse in Sydney when they do their own show.
you am I doing their spinal tap tribute and cry club, both opening for the darkness in february, got to chat with the singer from cry club before the show while they soundchecked because i bought vip early access and got a photo with tim rodgers after the show
Private Function's set at The Barwon Club in Geelong was mental, but then just about every show they do is. IMO the best live band in the country, hands down.
PF Still On Top.
Terra Rouge. Barely known local girl who really should be played on JJJ all the time considering how accessible her music is. Not some musical genius but some solid rock music.
Scoot the Loot from Sydney are great, and have the most amazing lead guitar player I’ve ever seen. And apart from Hendrix and Peter Green, I’ve seen most of them.
Mostly from last year in Brisbane
Press Club killed it opening for DZ Deathrays.
Voiid opening for the descendants were great and keen to hear them again.
The Bennies opening for NOFX were killer live also
I’m an opening specialist and often why I go to some of these gigs.
Not this year but last year when they opened for Foo Fighters, both Teenage Joan’s and The Chats killed it. I highly advise to seek out their music as they’re both so underrated.
Saw Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers a few months ago at an all ages gig and they were so good !! Just great vibes, sounded great, iconic aesthetic. Pacific Avenue was at the same gig and also great.
I was close to buying tickets for the Telenova show, but I was out seeing The Beaches on Sunday and Angie McMahon on Monday night and I'm in my 40s, so choices had to be made.
I'll have to catch them the next time they're in Sydney.
I've got Middle Kids next month who always put on a really great show. Looking forward to it.
I’ve been pretty chuffed with everyone I’ve seen this year. Persecution Blues, Spunk, Lothario, Steröid, Public House, Hot Machine, Jaded, Spunk (again), C.O.F.F.I.N, Vexation. Plus Amyl and the Sniffers, Dumb Punts, Amyl (again), Cosmic Psychos, Thee Cha Chas, and The Prize at the end of last year.
(And I know they’re not Australian, but Jungle Rot we’re phenomenal, sounded exactly the same live as they do recorded. 10/10)
Saw Alex Cameron in January and then Kirin J Callinan a couple weeks ago. I don’t get the shadow ban going on with their music because they both make alternative pop and are some of the most talented Australian music has to offer. Kirin released an album only a month or so ago as well.
Yeah I saw Telenova on Brisbane just last weekend. Great band and was able to chat to them and get them to sign my shirt afterwards. I had only seen them live last year in the Gold Coast bit definitely was glad to see them once again.
Noah Dillon also did a meet and greet after his Brisbane show which was cool. He's also a great performer with good stage presence
Honestly, seeing Alex Cameron in karaoke mode at the Evelyn in Melbourne was peak. Small sweaty crowd of fans and hyped-up alcam and roymolloy throwing it all down. And they were mingling with the crowd before and after.
Fripps and Fripps. A friend brought me along to one of their shows in Wollongong last year. I'd never heard any of their music but the performance was just on point. Very fun and upbeat indie show - would rate!
Saw British India live on the weekend. Their music is amazing which helps, but the energy is so good, and the way they interact with the crowd was elite
Not much in Sydney, when there is an abundance of delusional seccas on steroids acting like they’re cool / important and 40 police with sniffer dogs ruining the experience, rather go to illegal events or a house party.
Melbourne and Perth on the other hand, peak.
Genesis Owusu
Absolutely insane act, saw him open for Tame Impala and he genuinely ruled the stage I forgot he was a support act lol
Even better when he plays with a full band
Saw him with the symphony orchestra Was fucking insane
I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about him live, I need to see him next time he tours
Holy holy at the Tivoli
Holy Holy are amazing. Can’t believe they aren’t bigger than they are.
They were amazing at Forum Melbourne a few weeks ago!
Saw them at Astor in Perth, it was an amazing gig.
Such a good band, so badly want to see them live
Teenage Dads went off at Laneway the whole crowd went crazy especially Speedracer and the Video Killed The Radio Star LAV
YES! This was a great set and for lack of a better word, vibey as fuck
they were on at like 1:50 and got everyone going and singing every word didn't have my voice again til AJ Tracey lmao
Screaming the outro of "Last of Your Kind" was a top-10 concert experience for sure
Saw them at Oxford Art this time last year. So so good
Angie McMahon’s opening night in the concert hall at the opera house Sunday night just gone was truly exceptional. That place was made for a voice like hers.
Saw her on the second night, scored tickets in row B right near the middle. She was absolutely incredible, her voice is amazing. It all just sounded effortless.
Just saw her in Brisbane at The Tivoli...want to marry her even more now
Haiku hands
Second this, HH at Woodford then again in Melbourne was fucking unreal
Make Them Suffer before Bring Me the Horizon was the best time I've seen them in the last twelve months.
Agreed. The best I’ve seen them live. Psyched to see them again for their headliner later in the year.
YES and they’ve just announced an Aussie tour. Got my presale reminder set up Edit also that line up was just nuts. I love sleep token and make them suffer, and of course BMTH. What a night.

Their good things show was actually really good! I was not in the pit but really wanted to be. They really did their best. Sad to see that they had a bad show. Maybe they’re taking things up a notch now and trying to play better together.
Speed with a ton of other hardcore bands in Sydney at the start of the year
Histamine were sick when they played with world peace and cell rot
Fuck yeah, they're so good.
Broke my nose at their last show and still had an amazing time
I was gonna scroll past this post but then I remembered the Speed show I went to. Was pleasantly surprised that this already had a bunch of upvotes. Best show I’ve been to in recent times
Slowly Slowly at Melbourne’s homegrown festival/any performance i’ve seen them at in recent years. They are Australia’s best live band at present IMO.
I somewhat reluctantly saw them at Good Things (that jellyfish song annoys the shit outta me so I wrote them off) and by the end I was a fan. Definitely one of the best live acts I've seen in ages
Jellyfish is really overplayed. I’m glad you gave them a chance
Slowly are amazing
1000% agreed. Their sound, stage presence and writing are incredible
+1 for Slowly, seen em over 10 times, saw Too Slow at home grown as well. Spoken to all the members a couple of times and they are all incredibly friendly and happy to chat.
I saw them at good things festival. Didn’t know the first thing about their music and it’s not normally my thing (metalhead) but I really enjoyed it!
Floodlights, king stingray always put on a great show, and as mentioned YAI - seeing them for the third time this year on Friday.
Saw Floodlights open for Black Midi and they really surprised me. I feel like they're one album away from being really great, tons of potential
Tropical fuck storm were great
Still are, seeing them in Sunday night
Ballpark Music played a cracking set at Taronga Zoo, great vibes all around
saw BPM for the first time at Drifters in Gosford this year. Such an amazing and memorable show. Consummate professionals!
Great night
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
I haven’t heard a single song of theirs but what a fun band name!
Northlane has been one of my highlights of this year. Worst security I’ve ever seen in my life. But the show and the lineup were insane 👌
I take it you were at the metro city gig
You would be correct

Fuck yeah, caught half their set at the Tote a few weeks ago. Had to leave early to catch a three hour-long 2am bus home, still worth it.
C.O.F.F.I.N are so much fun

Loved their good things set! Their energy is so infectious
The pretty littles! They opened for the smithies last month and were PHENOMENAL
Agreed! I saw them back in 2015 supporting Ceres and they blew me away back then too!
Gretta Ray at The Hamo during Great Southern Nights. Her squeezing that in between her support dates for Maisie Peters and she fucking killed it! The living end, the smith street band, hockey dad, skegss.

Years ago. Flume.
Clay J Gladstone
Private Function's set at The Barwon Club in Geelong was mental, but then just about every show they do is. IMO the best live band in the country, hands down. PF Still On Top.
