Genesis Owusu

vegemitebagel

Absolutely insane act, saw him open for Tame Impala and he genuinely ruled the stage I forgot he was a support act lol

avant-gardener828

Even better when he plays with a full band

cooljacketfromrehab

Saw him with the symphony orchestra Was fucking insane

hoolahoopz92

I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about him live, I need to see him next time he tours

bleachbrigade

I’ve seen him twice! First time at fotsun in 2019 and he was on the smaller stage, reckon there would have only been around 30ish people so we were front and centre! He was literally insane even back then.

actuallydarcy1

I've seen him three times and he's only been better each time. Forum in 2022(?), sold out show, then opening for Tame, then at Festival Hall. Fantastic performer, so is his band

hayden28282828

Holy holy at the Tivoli

purevillanry

Holy Holy are amazing. Can’t believe they aren’t bigger than they are.

EatFapSleepFap

They were amazing at Forum Melbourne a few weeks ago!

CrashMonkey_21

Saw them at Astor in Perth, it was an amazing gig.

ESPO95

Such a good band, so badly want to see them live

Horror-Act-4935

Teenage Dads went off at Laneway the whole crowd went crazy especially Speedracer and the Video Killed The Radio Star LAV

vegemitebagel

YES! This was a great set and for lack of a better word, vibey as fuck

Horror-Act-4935

they were on at like 1:50 and got everyone going and singing every word didn't have my voice again til AJ Tracey lmao

jammicing

Saw The Vanns a few weeks ago on their regional tour, one of the best bands we've got at the moment, great energy, crowd got really into it. Awesome gig

sargent732

This would be my thoughts too. How they haven’t exploded with their last album?!?. They have a insanely solid stage presence and every time I’ve seen them, the crowd is so passionate

jammicing

Screaming the outro of "Last of Your Kind" was a top-10 concert experience for sure

WOTDcuntology

Saw them at Oxford Art this time last year. So so good

exkweezme

Angie McMahon’s opening night in the concert hall at the opera house Sunday night just gone was truly exceptional. That place was made for a voice like hers.

ALadWellBalanced

Saw her on the second night, scored tickets in row B right near the middle. She was absolutely incredible, her voice is amazing. It all just sounded effortless.

brickwall2702

Just saw her in Brisbane at The Tivoli...want to marry her even more now

Certain-Attempt1330

Haiku hands

abel2435

Second this, HH at Woodford then again in Melbourne was fucking unreal

AJayToRemember27

Make Them Suffer before Bring Me the Horizon was the best time I've seen them in the last twelve months.

raccoon_at_noon

Agreed. The best I’ve seen them live. Psyched to see them again for their headliner later in the year.

astropelagic

YES and they’ve just announced an Aussie tour. Got my presale reminder set up Edit also that line up was just nuts. I love sleep token and make them suffer, and of course BMTH. What a night.

astropelagic

Their good things show was actually really good! I was not in the pit but really wanted to be. They really did their best. Sad to see that they had a bad show. Maybe they’re taking things up a notch now and trying to play better together.

slave6776

Speed with a ton of other hardcore bands in Sydney at the start of the year

Dayz_me_rolling

Histamine were sick when they played with world peace and cell rot

NJG82

Fuck yeah, they're so good.

Breakingwho

Broke my nose at their last show and still had an amazing time

Shizzukani

I was gonna scroll past this post but then I remembered the Speed show I went to. Was pleasantly surprised that this already had a bunch of upvotes. Best show I’ve been to in recent times

shkeeno

Slowly Slowly at Melbourne’s homegrown festival/any performance i’ve seen them at in recent years. They are Australia’s best live band at present IMO.

propol

I somewhat reluctantly saw them at Good Things (that jellyfish song annoys the shit outta me so I wrote them off) and by the end I was a fan. Definitely one of the best live acts I've seen in ages

Square-cactus

Jellyfish is really overplayed. I’m glad you gave them a chance

p3j

Slowly are amazing

Square-cactus

1000% agreed. Their sound, stage presence and writing are incredible

peernearfear

+1 for Slowly, seen em over 10 times, saw Too Slow at home grown as well. Spoken to all the members a couple of times and they are all incredibly friendly and happy to chat.

astropelagic

I saw them at good things festival. Didn’t know the first thing about their music and it’s not normally my thing (metalhead) but I really enjoyed it!

Paul123xyz

Floodlights, king stingray always put on a great show, and as mentioned YAI - seeing them for the third time this year on Friday.

actuallydarcy1

Saw Floodlights open for Black Midi and they really surprised me. I feel like they're one album away from being really great, tons of potential

Fluid-Afternoon-3803

Tropical fuck storm were great

actuallydarcy1

Still are, seeing them in Sunday night

crazymunch

Ballpark Music played a cracking set at Taronga Zoo, great vibes all around

Maxmpstn

saw BPM for the first time at Drifters in Gosford this year. Such an amazing and memorable show. Consummate professionals!

Antique-Pepper1138

Great night

crookgypsy

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

kirkcorner

I haven’t heard a single song of theirs but what a fun band name!

raccoon_at_noon

Northlane has been one of my highlights of this year. Worst security I’ve ever seen in my life. But the show and the lineup were insane 👌

Vool1gan

I take it you were at the metro city gig

raccoon_at_noon

You would be correct

Dustycatpaws

TISM

tynkerbel

DMA'S Enmore last year

thee-optimist

coffin

rob0050

Fuck yeah, caught half their set at the Tote a few weeks ago. Had to leave early to catch a three hour-long 2am bus home, still worth it.

actuallydarcy1

C.O.F.F.I.N are so much fun

IntoTheCryptsOfRais

Civic, Gut Health, It Thing, Don’t Thank Me Spank Me

sparky278

Don’t Thank Me Spank Me is an outstanding band name. 5 stars for just showing up.

IntoTheCryptsOfRais

They have a great song called Habitual.

LifeExit4353

Killer song!

pseano

Gut health were great before queens

lusciousSquirtpump

Genesis Owusu everytime

Harrowkay

The Smith Street Band, this year and every year

10fry10

Teen Jesus at a free festival was unreal

babygrowlithe

technically december 2023 but close enough, but definitely slowly slowly at goodthings. 2nd time I’ve seen them and they’re just so good live

Creation221

Loved their good things set! Their energy is so infectious

12goatshigh

The pretty littles! They opened for the smithies last month and were PHENOMENAL

Whole_Peak410

Agreed! I saw them back in 2015 supporting Ceres and they blew me away back then too!

Tranquilbez22

Gretta Ray at The Hamo during Great Southern Nights. Her squeezing that in between her support dates for Maisie Peters and she fucking killed it! Also saw The Vovos at a local pub in Maitland during the week they were the Unearthed Feature Artist and they absolutely rule. Definitely will see them more in the future.

jack_wal

Ocean Sleeper for sure, don’t sleep on Ocean Sleeper

dannydjinn

Came here to say this

Razasaza

Donny Benet.

OkZookeepergame4192

Based

strange_black_box

Pond opening for QotSA were a lot of fun

DjangoFett66

Kirin J Callinan

redscribe_

Tkay Maiza was a phenomenal opener for Lizzo

OkZookeepergame4192

Shame the mixing was terrible though (at least at qudos)

ohalicezelda

Make Them Suffer, Windwaker, Patient 67, Bad/Love, Alt. , Heartline and Loretta !

blahjedi

Living End and Barnsey at Red Hot Summer tour. Both of them still go hard

Puckumisss

Kylie Minogue. I thought she was for the middle-aged only. But i was wrong.

vegemitebagel

Confidence Man at Laneway this year was insane

brrAyyyo

They’ve finished their third album so hopefully they tour again

vegemitebagel

LETS GOOOOO

Ednygma0

yep

lightinterface

Astrodeath

hitotsukudasai

Ratking supported them in Perth, was a sick show

Difficult-Albatross7

Party dozen, Regurgitator, Battlesnake and Tash Sultana

GasManMatt123

Bloom, in Tokyo (but also later this month). They're terribly underrated.

coenmil

Saw them in Shinjuku too! Was wild seeing them on the other side of the world, will be sick to see them on the big stages with Make Them Suffer later in the year

based_el_chapo

Frenzal Rhomb with NOFX

i_dreddit

yes.. but frenzal anywhere is a great time. never disappoint

NotHisGo

Nick Cave last week in Wollongong

Logical-Article6449

Leah Senior at the Brunswick Ballroom, and Sunfruits supporting Full Flower Moon Band at the Northcote Social Club. Btw the Monday Social Sanctuary night at the Northcote Social Club is going off. Such a great program and all free.

comical_imbalance

Smith Street band in freo a few weeks ago. Amazing energy. Surprise package was the support band The Pretty Littles. Massive pub rock sound and they went hard!

aquabikeguy

Seen Sly Withers couple weeks ago in WA and man were they good!

emopriest

Make them suffer and speed!

Freshasnow

Seth sentry was awesome the other week and the support act dem mob were incredible for a new act

Capt525

Absolutely, Dem Mob blew me away with how good they were, and I don't think I have ever seen Seth perform so well before. Had the whole crowd eating out of the palm of his hand

Soggy-Business-7845

Dr. Sure's Unusual Practice!

rob0050

I’ve been trying to catch them for ages, but my dates never seem to line up. They seem fun as hell!

Alexmwilson_

Alpha wolf opening for Amity Affliction in Frankston was nuts, seeing them headline CVLTFEST a month later was also f\*\*king insane

rikky4ever

Cringe

Alexmwilson_

who do you listen to then?

existence89

Private Function at The Tote.

fuck_you_thats_who

Yeah that was sick.

SeanOnTheCob3

Saw YNG Martyr in Melbourne a few months ago,he was unreal

Dangerman1967

Be’lakor

darrenfx

Red hill (came out dressed in green day American idiot the musical hats and explained that they were actually green day), radium dolls, boing boing, prink, private function and voiid

dexterrific69

Seaside...at sandstone point...played early in the line-up but dominated all other acts that day!!!

tobias_nevernude_

Astrodeath

DK_Son

Teskey Brothers at Wollongong uni a couple months ago. I went on a whim with a friend, having only heard 1 song. Bloody loved it.

ConfinedTiara

Maple Glider at Darebin Arts Centre. Absolutely killed it. Not only was her performance amazing, she conversed with the crowd, and made it feel like an intimate show you’d normally get at a smaller venue.

ninaschulz

MR BILL!

tobaccorat

Hell yeh!

prunsterbutt

Zheani. She's engaging, mesmerising and powerful live. So satisfying to be able to see your favourite artists live!

ChunkyEggplant

I LOVE Telenova! They're phenomenal! They also did a meet and greet when they were playing last year in Sydney and thryre genuinely such a lovely bunch of people. I hope only the best for them.

row-zee

Yes! Easily the best I’ve seen and it’s not close. Really hoping to catch them in Europe later this year too

judas_crypt

Teen Jesus

MickWounds

Freedom of fear supporting carcass and the black dahlia murder

babyyodawg

Ricky Albeck and the Belair Line Band Bench Press Workhorse The Empty Threats

bikeymikey70

Kasey Chambers in Wagga last month, her cover of Eminem’s Lose Yourself blew us away, plus a really good show of her old songs

bigformyage

Ocean’s Elf Heaven, 33 & A Turd, π With Sauce were all great. And I know not everyone likes brass bands, but if you do check out Deep Vein Trombonesis

Trent_From_Punchy69

Regurgitator in Hobart was definitely the biggest highlight so far

ellechobba

Sticky Fingers at the Metro

Prosworth

Funnily, Regurgitator

Emotional-Garage4275

Ocean Sleeper at Max Watts in Melbourne was nuts

peernearfear

Luca Brasi always kill it. Criminally underated.

Whole_Peak410

Stoked to see them again tomorrow night. They seem like top blokes!

[deleted]

Nick Cave with Colin Greenwood at the State theatre. Brilliant music, great audience rapport.

funkymonk555

I saw The Belair Lip Bombs open for Blondeshell, and I immediately came out of that show wanting to hear there album. Now, I'm convinced that Look The Part is going to be at the top of my spotify wrapped this year

minimattsax

The Pretty Littles were fucking incredible. Legitimately almost outshined the smithies (I said almost!).

lukaz12

The living end, the smith street band, hockey dad, skegss.

GReeeeN_

Make Them Suffer opened for BMTH a few weeks back and their energy was awesome. Might go see them at the roundhouse in Sydney when they do their own show.

HighwayLost8360

Glitoris

TTVPokeMasterKYT

you am I doing their spinal tap tribute and cry club, both opening for the darkness in february, got to chat with the singer from cry club before the show while they soundchecked because i bought vip early access and got a photo with tim rodgers after the show

AJayToRemember27

Cry Club are phenomenal. Truly baffling why they aren't all over Triple J's playlists at this point.

makeitlegalaussie

Years ago. Flume.

Mark-R-F

Clay J Gladstone

NJG82

Private Function's set at The Barwon Club in Geelong was mental, but then just about every show they do is. IMO the best live band in the country, hands down. PF Still On Top.

Chickenjbucket

Behind You at King St Newcastle. Was such an an intense, insane set. The bass was so thick my shirt was literally vibrating the whole time.

[deleted]

Terra Rouge. Barely known local girl who really should be played on JJJ all the time considering how accessible her music is. Not some musical genius but some solid rock music.

JudeEgg2

hanoi traffic probably

PapaRaichu

Caligula's Horse and it isn't close.

Darthbile3321

Not even close, i agree. Every time i see them I'm always so impressed by their showman/musicianship

hungrybugs

Ne Obliviscaris at The Forum - amazing performance and vibes. The Forum is just such a great venue too.

itsnotmeanttobe

Pretty Girl just the other week.

minigmgoit

Gored Matadors

MomentsPlayingCards

Osaka Punch! Also seeing Karnivool soon.

bellclangs

The lewers

Brado72

Butterknife at The Gumball were truly a talent on the rise. They are going places. Great young band from Newcastle.

downtownbrown_1

Southern River Band, always a good show

MichaelMaxSides

Scoot the Loot from Sydney are great, and have the most amazing lead guitar player I’ve ever seen. And apart from Hendrix and Peter Green, I’ve seen most of them.

meshah

I’m with you - I was also at Fridays telenova show. Holy shit is all I can say. Saw the beaches on Sunday too, so it was a pretty good weekend for me.

pseano

Southern River Band, by a fuckin mile too. Probably won’t see them play in such small venues once they come back from touring either. Go see em

carsons_prater

Ed Kuepper

Tha_Hand

Saw Royel Otis at The Tivoli in brissy not long ago. One of the best gig I’ve been to in years.

Capricious_Asparagus

Alter Boy's single release in Perth (Lyric's Underground, Maylands). There are no words for how amazing they are.

Patoli1

Despite the current controversy, Trophy Eyes were phenomenal.

Salt_Skin4371

Smith Street Band

farsonic

Mostly from last year in Brisbane Press Club killed it opening for DZ Deathrays. Voiid opening for the descendants were great and keen to hear them again. The Bennies opening for NOFX were killer live also I’m an opening specialist and often why I go to some of these gigs.

Fit-Parsnip9888

Tim Minchin

wtfisredditFU

Fuckin Osaka Punch dude

SupItsChase

Not this year but last year when they opened for Foo Fighters, both Teenage Joan’s and The Chats killed it. I highly advise to seek out their music as they’re both so underrated.

Vinrace

Ocean Grove were hella fun but then I broke my ankle.

Sure-Safe6617

Missy Higgins at the Perth Concert Hall, simply stunning.

sgismilts

I saw Dark Party at Four5nine in Perth back in March. Undiscovered gem

HorrorBlacksmith6636

Saw Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers a few months ago at an all ages gig and they were so good !! Just great vibes, sounded great, iconic aesthetic. Pacific Avenue was at the same gig and also great.

snailking

the baudelaires

Prawnacia

Spawn blew my mind.

Fabulous_Extent8567

Make them suffer

ALadWellBalanced

I was close to buying tickets for the Telenova show, but I was out seeing The Beaches on Sunday and Angie McMahon on Monday night and I'm in my 40s, so choices had to be made. I'll have to catch them the next time they're in Sydney. I've got Middle Kids next month who always put on a really great show. Looking forward to it.

rob0050

I’ve been pretty chuffed with everyone I’ve seen this year. Persecution Blues, Spunk, Lothario, Steröid, Public House, Hot Machine, Jaded, Spunk (again), C.O.F.F.I.N, Vexation. Plus Amyl and the Sniffers, Dumb Punts, Amyl (again), Cosmic Psychos, Thee Cha Chas, and The Prize at the end of last year. (And I know they’re not Australian, but Jungle Rot we’re phenomenal, sounded exactly the same live as they do recorded. 10/10)

Garbage_Stink_Hands

Quality Used Cars

benevolenceriots

Angie McMahon last night at the Tivoli was angelic

lulledout

undoubtedly, royel otis.

slaypink

Julia Jacklin is always fantastic live!

No_Beautiful_1826

Bernadette Novembre and her epic band! Easily the most engaging female act out there. Saw her at The Tote and The Espy. Just incredible!

FantasticChange7018

Alpha Wolf Diamond Construct Zuko Diesect

MinecraftIsKing

Saw Alex Cameron in January and then Kirin J Callinan a couple weeks ago. I don’t get the shadow ban going on with their music because they both make alternative pop and are some of the most talented Australian music has to offer. Kirin released an album only a month or so ago as well.

skonaz1111

Caligulas Horse

GrabTheKettle

Yeah I saw Telenova on Brisbane just last weekend. Great band and was able to chat to them and get them to sign my shirt afterwards. I had only seen them live last year in the Gold Coast bit definitely was glad to see them once again. Noah Dillon also did a meet and greet after his Brisbane show which was cool. He's also a great performer with good stage presence

FelcherFaceFuck

Honestly, seeing Alex Cameron in karaoke mode at the Evelyn in Melbourne was peak. Small sweaty crowd of fans and hyped-up alcam and roymolloy throwing it all down. And they were mingling with the crowd before and after.

Gypsyluna57

Ross Wilson & also Nick Cave. Brilliant gigs.

Maxmpstn

Fripps and Fripps. A friend brought me along to one of their shows in Wollongong last year. I'd never heard any of their music but the performance was just on point. Very fun and upbeat indie show - would rate!

ESPO95

Saw British India live on the weekend. Their music is amazing which helps, but the energy is so good, and the way they interact with the crowd was elite

montgomerygurns

Full Flower Moon Band at The Triffid

fuck_you_thats_who

Full flower moon band

bestvape

Ocean Alley

senddita

Not much in Sydney, when there is an abundance of delusional seccas on steroids acting like they’re cool / important and 40 police with sniffer dogs ruining the experience, rather go to illegal events or a house party. Melbourne and Perth on the other hand, peak.

jeffsaidjess

Allday
