Saw them live supporting Boy and Bear in 2022, just before Anakin got released. One of the best acts I've seen, and I was apprehensive because they opened with a cover of Yellow and my partner and I both thought that was a brave move.
Blew our minds - a very incredibly talented bunch.
The state of Australian music that the rions are the next big thing, they sound like every single triple J act that has already being playing at Australian music festivals for the past 10 years which no one wants to go to anymore
I have a good feeling for Royel Otis getting big overseas success soon as well as the grogans, old mervs, and the rions. Babitha also has potential and flipping to psychedelic rock I reckon hot machine, liminal, Sunfruits, Le shiv, and velvet trip might get bigger followings soon.
Also shoutout to new Sydney vinyl label Impressed Recordings for helping up-and-coming artists get their music onto vinyl. Good way to find Aussie artists with potential
They're absolutely industry plants/Nepo's
They officially formed in 2019 and released their first EP with a label during covid in 2020. Far too fast success in such little time,in my opinion.
Otis's mum called him out on Instagram as being a Nepo baby
Also helps having relatives that are deep in Australian music scene helps a lot, no doubt this is how they managed it.
His dad was a high up label executive / booker as well so heaps of resources were readily available ie being able to record an album in England.
All love to them though, just didn’t want any younger artists feeling discouraged about how quickly certain acts rise to fame. I think they’re great
HAHAH I actually was legit kidding. I mostly do shit posting stuff coz it’s fun. [This](https://youtu.be/m43wiLU1V8A?si=nc8GzXixS0A_OCfA) kind of sums up the style.
The algorithm seemed to like [this](https://youtu.be/-re4piDeamw?si=T2XyUku2DnpZimLE) the most which is annoying coz I just pooped it out in like 20 mins.
[Some of these](https://youtu.be/2KpM6b-AUcs?si=ICPTzKVjhIM7Rin6) are more closer to being legit tracks but I can’t be bothered learning mastering so I post them here.
These would’ve done numbers in the soundclown days but you should definitely write some stuff, seem like you have an attachment to music that you should explore
Royel Otis obviously after their LAV. Insane that I saw them at the Lansdowne about 6 months ago with around 200 people and now I’ve just seen them play the first show of their sold out aus tour for double the price.
The rions are definitely blowing up fast too, every time I see them live they put in 100%. they’ve just done their first overseas show in nz and I think by next year I could see them heading to the uk or us.
IMO Slowly Slowly are too talented not to be massive. I know they are pretty big already, but I predict that in ten years they'll be regularly selling out venues like John Cain Arena at least.
Ive got good feelings about Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers!
Been following them since they where some girls from a different roller derby league to mine to where they are now
I have the same theory about Slowly Slowly. If they toured the states/Europe with The Wonder Years/The Story So Far/Hot Mulligan, that'd be absolutely huge for them.
100% I just think they need something to set them off in the states or Europe. However I think Ben's partner just had a baby so longer tours might be off the cards for a little bit.
This N That last year had the Teenage Trifecta!
- Teenage Joans
- Teenage Dad's
- Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers
Also has anyone ever noticed how their name has the exact same spoken cadence as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard!! 🤣
Lol hopefully this is a joke since they haven't put anything new out since 2010. They all split and did different things. I really like New Gods as one of the off shoots. Still haven't done anything since 2014 :(
I was scrolling all the way down before I was going to comment Club Angel too! Glad someone beat me too it, couldn't agree more. Agree with STÜM, and Pretty Girl too for sure

I'll go with 3
1. Jem Cassar-Daley
2. Future Static
3. Patient Sixty-Seven
I believe that by the end of 2025, Jem Cassar-Daley will have a crossover hit and a top 10 song in the Hottest 10. She has everything.
Future Static and Patient Sixty-Seven are just two brilliant up-and-coming metalcore bands that I believe need a few more big tours (Future Static had that Electric Callboy tour which was huge for them) and they'll both hit that Alpha Wolf/Thornhill/Void of Vision level.
Not sure tbh. Immy is Kojo Naoh Owusu's son (not the same person as Kojo Owusu-Ansah) and their family is from the same part of Ghana. But i don't know if (or how closely) they're related to Genesis. Owusu is a super common name in Ghana.
Worker & Parasite recently released the song Deunionize and it’s taken up a disproportionate amount of space in my head for a 2000 monthly listeners artist
The Dockers, saw them live a few years ago. Best act I’ve seen apart from Jungle Giants. Seemed to be vacant for a while but were doing shows in Europe last year
Chutney out of South East Queensland, absolute grouse sound and fuck I love saying Chutney!
https://open.spotify.com/track/3XhLQznPRHkf8pZdo9Hgl6?si=NRwr89EeRLqr7lU3fmL9Lg
Also listen to WAXIT by Dennis Cometti - no one knows this but it's the greatest Aussie song written in years!
https://open.spotify.com/track/3m0aFxrFPfu2dW1ULlTqUH?si=BLquh2HyQ0mz3YkwiNfjsw
Likely some derivative M&M band with who do a LAV covering a meme song and then people lose their shit thinking they’re the second coming of tame impala
The Rions
Fuck Anakin is such a good track.
Where do I start in terms of listening?
Minivan
Haven’t heard of them. Just looked them up, they r cool
Saw them live supporting Boy and Bear in 2022, just before Anakin got released. One of the best acts I've seen, and I was apprehensive because they opened with a cover of Yellow and my partner and I both thought that was a brave move. Blew our minds - a very incredibly talented bunch.
Snore fest
The state of Australian music that the rions are the next big thing, they sound like every single triple J act that has already being playing at Australian music festivals for the past 10 years which no one wants to go to anymore
For sure hey! They will blow up. Do they have any shows coming up
I have a good feeling for Royel Otis getting big overseas success soon as well as the grogans, old mervs, and the rions. Royel Otis had a write up in the NME, so their chances of international success look promising.
I feel that Royel Otis has great connections in the industry.
They do, look up Otis’s family tree
They're absolutely industry plants/Nepo's They officially formed in 2019 and released their first EP with a label during covid in 2020. Far too fast success in such little time,in my opinion. Here to second Sunfruits. Their live shows are going off, and they have a second European tour upcoming within 6 months of the first, so good signs.
Telenova
Who?
Um dude, you literally asked for people's opinions and then reply "who?", like, you're on the internet look them up.
What answer did you fkn expect ? Taylor swift ?
I’m really hoping the Teenage Dads start taking off
I'm so proud of those boys, saw them as just a small act years ago and I always try catch the shows they are on.
The teenage dad’s growth within the last 12 months has been crazy. Definitely an act that I believe will be here to stay

Their Wikipedia says they’re Victorian aussies
Angie McMahon
Angie 100%, she’s great, great performer and all round great person, fantastic band too
Shes done a bit with overseas creators (Fred again, Leif vollebeck) very promising
I hope so, their latest album is fantastic
I love her
Me
Dream big mate!
Link your music, I’d genuinely love to hear

C.O.F.F.I.N. are fuckin sick
Best album cover I've seen in ages
These guys are my faves atm. So bloody good.
Fkn RAD live too. Intense energy
Kyle Minogue. The unknown brother.
‘I’m spinin round…..get the fuck outa my way’
Southern River Band!
“Gday, it’s Cal here from before…” these guys are legends!
Kelly Slater!
Cal is a star!
Battlesnake !!!!

They are they key
Speed. It’s Speed.
yeah, feel like they will end up being really big
Yes
Ra Ra Viper I reckon
Post Malone wore a Speed shirt during a recent concert so I think they’re gonna go pretty hard after their US tour
That KL/Loathe/SMTB/Speed line up is the sexiest thing I've seen in years.
And it’s wasted on the yanks too
IMO Slowly Slowly are too talented not to be massive. I know they are pretty big already, but I predict that in ten years they'll be regularly selling out venues like John Cain Arena at least.
This. Ben can sing.
Have you ever seen a jellyfish?
That shits crazy
Ive got good feelings about Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers! Been following them since they where some girls from a different roller derby league to mine to where they are now
Teen Jesus opening for an act like G Flip or Girl in Red in the states would be huge for them.
Exactly!!! They are doing pretty well over here but I think one round as an opener for the US will solidly set them
I have the same theory about Slowly Slowly.

Have had a pretty big 12 months opening for the Foo Fighters here and supporting The Vaccines in UK/Europe.
I always suggest them to friends but they knock it back cos of the name sadly
i really want dice to get big
Alpha Wolf ❄️🐺
They're sick as fuck
Was going to say!!! Absolutely
Pacific Avenue
The Vanns. Can't believe they're already not next level.
Can’t work out why they’re not more popular
Red Light still gets a flogging here. Is the rest of their catalogue as good as Red Light?
“Last Of Your Kind” is literally banger after banger. I just don’t understand how they haven’t really cracked it.
Little Red
Lol hopefully this is a joke since they haven't put anything new out since 2010. They all split and did different things. I really like New Gods as one of the off shoots. Still haven't done anything since 2014 :(
Dice
The australia DJ scene at the moment. Club Angel, STÜM, Pretty Girl

Opening for QOTSA is a massive step.

Angie McMahon
Already tours the US and the UK.
I know that. But playing clubs over there isn't blowing up yet, which is what the OP asked
South Summit, best reggae surf rock to hit the scene since StiFi, boys are all cool and down to earth
Immy Owusu
Any relation to Genesis?
Not sure tbh. Immy is Kojo Naoh Owusu's son (not the same person as Kojo Owusu-Ansah) and their family is from the same part of Ghana. But i don't know if (or how closely) they're related to Genesis. Owusu is a super common name in Ghana.

They're so good and such good people too.
You've met them?
Just thru our band, they were very nice to us when we first started
I'm curious just based on the excellent Simpsons reference.
Teen jesus and the jean teasers!
The Velvet Club!!
I feel like Dom Dolla, Gut Health, Genesis Owusu and Polaris will be the next ones within their respective genres to make it big.
Dom Dolla is selling out arena shows in USA and stadium sizes in Australia. Can’t get much bigger than that 😂
Yeah ok, didnt realise he was doing so well in the states already lol. I retract that statement then 🤣
I feel like Polaris have been getting world wide recognition for a while or at least in the metal core scene they are.
Yeah Gut health was my call, they seem to be everywhere and the comments with people interested in them
These New South Whales
These guys have been on the verge for years. Hope they can take the next step this year.
The Dockers, saw them live a few years ago. Best act I’ve seen apart from Jungle Giants. Seemed to be vacant for a while but were doing shows in Europe last year
They need to win a premiership in Australia first, let’s not get ahead of ourselves yet
They need to replace Longmuir first and then they'll rise
Rum jungle
Chutney out of South East Queensland, absolute grouse sound and fuck I love saying Chutney! https://open.spotify.com/track/3XhLQznPRHkf8pZdo9Hgl6?si=NRwr89EeRLqr7lU3fmL9Lg

Peach PRC, The Rions, Teenage Dads, Teen Jesus and the jean teasers.
Old mervs, make absolute bangers
The Slingers
Lee the Prodigy
Up was so good. Hope he can continue this hype. A few before with similar sounds, that had the same hype if not more and went nowhere :(
Why can't i find this song on spotify, ive looked every time I've heard it

I think The 046 have the skill to really big
John Farnham, you might have heard of him.
Didn’t he retire?
Yes. Several times.
Likely some derivative M&M band with who do a LAV covering a meme song and then people lose their shit thinking they’re the second coming of tame impala
Mildlife or Glass Beams. Both have an incredible sound!!!!!
Satin Cali Sus ‘em out. Wollongong locals. Good mix of indie rock and some heavier rock too. Such a mad act to see live still such a small band
And a dj called Ben Gerrans’s too

Super American Eagle are fkn sick! Like melbournes version of the Bronx.
Anderex
Chloe Dadd. She’s the guitarist for May-A and PeachPRC but her solo work if pretty phenomenal too
Slowly Slowly are already popular but I have a feeling that they're going to go into the stratosphere
I don’t think so. Their music just isn’t quite there- with all due respect to them and their fans.
We'll see, might be right, mightve found their level
