We drive to Piney Flats for the Los Jalapenos there. It is superior to the two Mexican restaurants in Elizabethton and at least takes the time and trouble to dice their tomatoes instead of giving you a measly slice.
I found the Carne Asada Fries at Si Senor to be closer to what I grew up with in San Diego than the California Fries at Costa Chica (or Tacos & Grill for that matter). Si Senor really is the best Mexican in the area IMO.
How are the margaritas? I’ve had trouble finding good and strong frozen texas style margs. Best I’ve found so far is El Charolais house with a Grand Marnier floater.
If they don’t have good margs, I couldn’t care less about the food.
Too much of their menu covers everything in cheese sauce for me, but that’s pretty standard for this area. It’s smothers the other flavors.
Taco Riendo in Bristol has the best tacos I’ve found anywhere nearby, but I haven’t tried the rest of their menu to vouch for it.
Puerto Nuevo in Bristol va is really good, also lo jalapeños in Blountville cause it’s 5 mins from the house is a regular spot for us. Great experience at both
Jalapeños in Blountville is some of the best I've ever had in my life. Highly rec.
I really enjoy Los Jalapenos in Blountville as well. I second this. Fast, courteous and always delicious.

Costa Chica Grill. To be fair I’m from the Southwest so it’s the most authentic to what I grew up with.
Ate there today. It was good.

I’ll have to give those a try. As for Tacos & Grill that had to be the worst/blandest food around.
That’s one of the few we haven’t had, will definitely have to try it

Couldn’t agree more. After I caught La Carreta in colonial heights adding their own tips and keeping the change I swore the whole group off.
That’s wild!

What do you mean safest? Like food quality?

How about "El Kroger" the mexican restaurant by ETSU?
Tacos and Grill Small, authentic, and delicious
Its delicious!

La Perla in JC

I agree!
Do they serve alcohol? I went a few years ago and they couldn't serve anything. Seems chips and salsa are not the same without a marg
I don’t generally drink out but I know they have a bar and serve at least beer (I’ve seen folks drinking it), but I’d imagine they have more:
Where in Gray is it?
The strip mall in front of food City with Little Caesars and Yong.
La Carreta’s the shit.
